Two new Stangs for 07
http://www.motortrend.com/features/a..._ford_mustangs
New Boss mustang.........425-435hp. NICE!!! Once again....I still say BMW better step it up on the new M3. If they dont, its gonna look pretty odd with the new line of cars coming out. |
Looks ok... :)
Whats next, a shitty Bullit remake? :? |
^^^
I'd bet on it  |

Even with 500 hp, the shelby gt500 is only as fast as the new 335i from BMW. Mustangs don't handle at all and 0-60 sucks for that much power because they weigh too much. Mustang isn't a good comparo with a BMW, especially not the new M3 which will no doubt blow any production mustand out of the water, but the new M3 will also cose 20K than these mustangs. The two cars aren't in the same bracket for comparison, price, performance, or otherwise. |

But still the Mustang seems like a bargain compared to the other cars, then again it is less car :| |

You get what you pay for though. With BMW, owners may pay a bit of premiun for the name, but the build quality, interior comfort and material quality, reliability, and driving experience is second to none. IMO the BMW is worth the extra money. You gat all the performance, a better engine, better reliability, and a car that can handle the track just as easily as the street. The same can't be said for a Mustang. |

Well, truth be told, the Ford V8 will stand a lot more abuse than the Beemer I6 anyday.
And both you guys know this :P ;) |

My buddy is a mustang freak and over the years he has had a lot of problems with the cars. Engine issues that is. Not to mention they don't go in the snow. |

well the newer specs of my engine are actually better in terms of strength although they still use those shitty hypereutectic pistons other than that they are pretty good engines, no Honda 4cylinder or SBC but a good engine no doubt.

It's mainly how you take care of the car and engine, abuse it and parts start breaking. I was 21 once and I remember those days well. Run the car hard without abuse and it will last much longer.
The main weak points in both the Fox and Fox 4 designs were mainly the weak gearboxes in the 80's to the last of the 5 speeds. The 8.8 rears are pretty stout. As far as the hypereutetic pistons are concerned, as long as you are not using nitrous or some kind of forced induction with high boost amounts, it should be fine. So far, my 130.000 mile stock block 4.6 DOHC is doing fine with the base Vortech kit (5-7 psi boost) as long as there is no detonation. You do know that hypereutetics are silicon- based (read, made up of sand) |
it really surprizes me how silly some comments here really are. Sure, a mustang is inferior to a corvette. but... the suspension is IDENTICAL to a 3 series up front; except ti doesn't squat the rear under breaking like the BMW does (yet). To say a BMW 335 is anywhere close to as quick in an overal sence even to a stock Mustang GT is a slight streatch. The V8 is more then stout enough, the soundtrack is immeasureably better, cheaper to maintain (once off of BMW maintainence program) and can be made much faster much cheaper.
All that, and it looks 100000x better to boot. BMW is not a comparitive vehicle; but to call a beemer a superior handler... well, even a 3rd gen F body will out lap a 3 series with no engine work, 150,000 miles, and 2001-2 suspension fitted. These aren't the only new mustangs for 2007; we also have the new Shelby GT to come out... unless that has been trashed.. I'll have to talk to my people about these. |
