First JW eBay related car buying game!

Ok, let's try this one.

Here is how it works, I'm pretty sure I already saw something like that in other boards, but this is the first time for JW :)

So, let's assume you live in US and have some money you absolutely want to spend, no matter what :)
And you decide to invest them into cars :-)
So you just log on ebay.com and find good use for the money.

To make it more simple, we won't consider all the costs a car normally has (consumables, taxes and so on...), so you just take the money and spend them, stop :)

Of course only cars with the "Buy it now" option are eligible for this game since you can buy them right away if you want and it won't be impossible to follow a true auction untill the last bid.

And here is what you need:

- eBay Motors is here
- To see only items with "Buy it now", once you did you search or are into the desired section, if you're not familiar with the site, you just click, right under the ad banner, "buy it now". that will give you only the cars we're interested in.
- You have 15'000 USD to spend.
- You can invest all of them in a single car or just buy 2, 3 or 20 of them if you want :)
- If you really have lot of spare time, you can save also some money and, always in ebay, buy some extra like new wheels or performance parts or whatever else you need for your car(s)

And well, that's all basically :D

When your choices are set, just post a couple of pics and the specs of the car(s) you choosed :D Not sure if remote linking always work, if not, everybody can find a hosting place just for a couple of pics, right? :)

If this little game will interest others and not just me, it could come back on a weekly or 2 weeks base :)

TT 01-07-2004 11:00 AM

And here is my choice to give some guidelines :)

--

Ok first off it's me obviously :)

I decided to go the "multi-car" way :D

First car:

1982 BMW : 7-Series 733i

COST - 4'500 USD

Year - 1982
Miles - 62'000
Trans - Auto
Engine - 6 Cyl

http://www.flytrap.it/public/ttsib/27_3.jpg

--

Second one

1991 Chevrolet : Blazer

COST - 3'000 USD

Year - 1991
Miles - 113'272
Trans - Auto
Engine - 8 Cyl V8 5.7

http://www.flytrap.it/public/ttsib/71_4blazer.jpg

--

And finally

1991 Nissan : 300ZX Twin Turbo

COST - 7'500 USD

Year - 1991
Miles - 126'000
Trans - Auto
Engine - 6 Cyl Turbo[/b]

http://www.flytrap.it/public/ttsib/ab_3nissan.jpg

--

Total spent, 15'000 USD ;)

Maybe it would have been cleaver to spend the whole 15k on a single one and have a good and newer one, but the temptation was to heavy... I saw the 7-Series and I had to "buy" it... then I was in need of a nice SUV to use into some woods or coutryside anyway.. and after them I had 7500 left but it was hard to find a nice sportcar with that sum... but I'm pretty happy anyway with my garage :D

pimrusis 01-07-2004 11:11 AM

For that money I just have to go German, the BMW m3. 1996

I think som rules need to be amended...the price that one "pays" for the car should be a real price...in other words, it has to have had its reserve "met", otherwise one could find an Aston Martin Vanquish, or a Ferrari, or a Lamborghini for $13,000

I already said that only items available with the Buy it now are accepted of course.
The rules are maybe ok.. you just need to read them..

SFDMALEX 01-07-2004 01:46 PM

Okay, I see. I thought your literaly buying cars....

1zippo1 01-07-2004 02:25 PM

Cool game, but I don't really found the "Buy it now" button. Anyway, started browsing and I know it was the purpose to pic a car under 15.000$ but I found this sweetie for 15.100$ and don't tell me that's just too much... it's a 550 for god's sake :P and it has only got 8920miles on it... so there probably should something be wrong with it or this dude just forgot to put an extra zero in the asking price!

I was first searching for a TVR T350C (a bit expensive I know), but there doesn't seem to be any TVR in the database. Was searching for the price of that baby in Belgium but I can't find any data on it! Some dealers have the Tuscan or other second hand older TVR's but I can't find any dealer that sells the T350C (no I'm not gonna buy it of course :P, I'm jus curious)

Euhm, but since I just couldn't stop looking :P I found this great offer on a nearly new S2000. 3000 miles and 15000$

TT 01-07-2004 02:26 PM

LOL I doubt I'd spent 15k USD on three crappy cars instead of a single good one :D in real life :D

graywolf624 01-07-2004 02:54 PM

I would buy exactly what I own now. I dont have time to look for a specific car. However, 88 iroc z. (I know the cars about 2.5 k for a straight bodied good pain on ebay. Tokico Illumini shocks- got mine for 100 off ebay.. eiback pro kit springs.. also off ebay.. 180.. billet alluminum phr 80 dollars off ebay. Strut tower braces are 80 dollars there*something I didnt get there. SFCs are about 150. LS1 engine with t56 transmission- 3500 off ebay. Ls1 engine install kit.. 225 off ebay*when he bothers to post it). Wheels bought mine for 600 off ebay- 17" 99 ss camaro 10 spokes. Painless wiring harness- also off ebay.. think it was 100. LS1 brakes- 200 off ebay. Moser 9 bolt rear- 1500. BMR LCAS (bought mind off ebay for 180). Front bushings kit- 200 also off ebay. CVS ram air hood.. 500 dollars.. Torque arm- 250.

Thats somewhere towards 11800. Im too lazy to calculate it out. The rest would be for install, tires, and painting the hood.

Vansquish 01-07-2004 03:11 PM
