Ebay, is that on the internet

Actually I just checked ebay and I must say the prices are rather decent, not what I expected.

acmarttin 12-01-2006 05:36 PM

I don't plan on having one until the new Formula One game comes out next March :)

TopGearNL 12-01-2006 05:43 PM

If the new GT comes out and it has Ferraris in it, Ill be forced to buy it

It will, and does. But when is the question...because it will surely get delayed.

(on www.ign.com they have new screenshots featuring in car views from the 599 GTB)

I don't plan on having one untill it drops a good $200. Which means, I probably won't have one for a very long time.

twboy1999 12-01-2006 07:57 PM

i bought 1,, but planning to sell it

all the games are on xbox360 already

ae86_16v 12-01-2006 08:02 PM

Waiting for Grand Turismo & Metal Gear Solid. . . no point in buying it now since it has no great games.

Minacious 12-01-2006 10:07 PM

I will purchase one when GT5, not GTHD, comes out. That will not be for a very long time.

What are they averaging now? I remember the day right after, they were around $2000 to $3000. Haha, glad to see the laws of supply and demand working again.

5vz-fe 12-01-2006 10:16 PM

900 bucks for 20gig
1100 for 60

Daggernite 12-01-2006 10:19 PM

I dont think the there is such a short supply of PS3's as there was with 360's. Also the Xbox360 was the first taste of next-gen, and graphic wise the PS3 aint really anything better than the 360. Xbox360 will always be a generation ahead in game development aswell, so will we ever see the PS3 really overcome in terms of graphics? If not then why get s PS3?
Blueray?

Dont go waste your money is all I have to say. Check www.gametrailers.com and just take alook at the prerendered videos sony said the PS3 could do, compared to the actual gameplay. They fell short to say the least.

When there cheap enough tho, I might get one for there exclusive games like gran turismo and MGS4.

DeMoN 12-03-2006 06:43 AM

Bah PS3 got owned bad now, no good games... resistance fall of men is only good game but Gears of War is better and has better graphics out of a less powerful machine WTF?

And now, gran turismo HD has been cancelled so they "work on GT5" whats next? F1 game cancell too?

What do you expect? This is the first generation game for PS3 verse a second generation game for the Xbox, of course it will have better graphics.

It will probably take another 3 to 4 years until they could full extract the power of the PS3, maybe even longer. I don't seem them equaling Xbox's graphics at least for another 2 years because many developers are saying that programing for the Cell Chip is extremely difficult.

So the question is... Will the quality of games ever surpass the Xbox360? the 360 will always be a generation ahead development wise, and the Cell is a bastard to work with. So PS3 does not have the graphical edge, and the Xbox360 is alot cheaper. GTHD is over now, but its not completely dead. Its now called Gran turismo HD concept, basically a higher grade GT4. Which ever console comes out on top is still unknown, but whatever the result I think PS3 failed with planning and design of the PS3.

saadie 12-03-2006 06:58 AM

video games .. wth .. you guys need to grow up :prr:

Correct. . . in the end, I think the PS3 will still have enough power and developer's backing to overtake both in terms of sales and better games than the Xbox.

Like I said, I think it will definitely take longer to extract the full power of the PS3.

Plus most importantly, the developers are still beting on the PS3. But will Cell be so hard to work with that, people will just give up? Like GTHD?

I am really waiting for GT5 and MGS4, and those will probably be at least 2 years away.

Yeah me too!

GTHD is just an extension of GT4 so I heard :?

twboy1999 12-03-2006 11:34 AM

ha.. ps3 launch titles are jokes
i can get all the games from xbox

and many of the games, the graphic is not as good as xbox360 and has alot more bugs

well, as rite now. the price on ebay is around 800-900cdn for the 60gb version

and u know what sucks.i was debating if i should keep it, and i decided not 2, because blue ray dvd is going down the toilet.

it is not as widly supported by movie studio, and the image quality is not as good

graywolf624 12-03-2006 11:49 AM

The cell chip sure is some interesting technology. IBM now has a super computer based off it that is currently the fastest in the world. Cool stuff.

I don't know if I'd have the negative reaction to turn around time that certain people above do about graphics. I'd bet more likely they will have rival graphics within a few months if the ps2 is any reference (they said the same thing about the ps2).

Then again I'm sitting out this round of consoles, at least until I see which new gen dvd player is crowned king of the mountain. I've shifted to casual gaming from hardcore, and once you do that you tend to never go back.

Still I wish Id stood in line for a ps3 for the profit;)

Not everyone here comes from a wealthy connected family in a corruptly governed country.. ;)

Just remember, all eyes are on you now.. if you become a no-one has-been at the back of the grid when ever you race, everyone will know you only got to the starting grid because of money and connections and not talent - and the same goes for the podium finish ;) :P

So if anything, the pressure is on you - not the "video game" players ;)

You'll be back in about 8 years or so - with a lot more disposable income and then it's fun to have the budget.

I can't imagine that many of the sales actually went through.

Think about it, if you have $5,000 spare to piss away on a PS3 you would have other conneciotns and abilites to pick one up on launch day.

As well as the fact it you did have $5,000 to piss away on a PS3 that would make you fairly adept at money management which would mean you wouldn't throw money awya on a console at 10x its value.. but simply wait till the price came down.

$1000 is probably the highest any one would pay.. and even then i can't imagine why :?:

Unless all the millionaires lines up to buy their PS3's from speculators on eBay. - and again I cant imagine why, but I have been know to be worng before.

It is definitely an AWESOME chip, but how hard will you have to work to program for it. Sony has commited to make better and easiler compliers, so hopefully developers could take advantage of it.

DeMoN 12-03-2006 08:45 PM

from what I read BTW, GTHD is not a game, its whatever work they have done so far demo. It will b dloadable from the japanese PS3 store and USA might not get it. So no game till GT5, HD is free and for people to test it i guess. www.gamespot.com go read it there.

Multi threading of that type is never easy. The part that is difficult is programming so there is no master scheduler processor, the way the cell processor works that is a bit rare in programming (multi scheduling in addition to multi processing). It isn't entirely new though. It also will be solved soon enough.

rave426 12-03-2006 09:22 PM

FYE can kiss my ass. The didnt even get ONE PS3. I was number 7 in line too. I learned my lesson...never reserve from a "music based" electronic store.

Anyway...no PS3........but I did get a Wii. Pretty fun too.

Also.....GTHD as been cancelled as a retail game. Only as a download in Japan. No word on American release. So that probably means no next gen GT4 until early 08.........Dammit

After the long delay of GT4, I don't have high hopes for them to deliver GT5 anytime soon. There are 3 main things I am expecting from GT5

- UI
- More cars on the grid
- Ability to make a proper donut.

I might jump ship to 360 and foza if they screw it up.

taygunho 12-04-2006 10:37 AM

^^ I just want GT5 has less skyline's evo's rx7's nsx's and more european cars like ferrari's lambo's and more BMW's like m5 e39 and m3 e30.
I don't have any next-gen console now and I don'T think I will have one before GT5 is on sale. I am still happy with my ps2+driving force pro+gt4 combination.

Thats the only combo you need mate. Once I got use to the interior and brill lighting effects the 360 can offer with PGR3, I went back to my ps2 GT4 and wheel combo because it was much better :| .

I can see you need a drive through south Atlanta.

Escalades in front of boarded up homes owned by welfare recepients who deal drugs on the side and are so far in debt. Spending money is not a prerequisite for having it.

But then again wouldn't those folks just jack the PS3 shipment before it hits Best Buy.. ? ;)

ae86_16v 12-04-2006 10:01 PM

Back to topic at hand - Anyone got $2 million bucks?

http://tinyurl.com/y7r777

See, if you win this deal, you not only get three 60GB PS3s, you get 21 Blu-ray movies, all the launch games, plus a limosine chauffer to chart you to the airport. Once you're there, you board a Gulf Stream G4 jet where you get taken to the north pole to meet Santa and the elves.

HeilSvenska 12-04-2006 11:00 PM

Lame.

I do have a voucher for one, but I'm the 99th one from a store, so...it'll take time.

twboy1999 12-05-2006 02:20 AM

my friend got 5 ps3
sold all for 1k each

and no, he didnt line up

DeMoN 12-05-2006 05:08 AM

My roomate managed to get one, I have it here on the living room. I've only played Resistance game which is the only one worth having. Cool games and graphics, the pics shown in gamespot are not really how the game looks. You have to set the PS3 to put an output of 720 (even if your tv like mine handles 1080) so that the game will look its best. If you leave it at 1080, the upconversion will take a toll at graphics. Still, only thing I wanted was GTHD and now I cant... pretty useless for me now this PS3.

You drive one of those rice-rockets don't you? Build the PS3 into the trunk with a 7 drop down LCD's and get uber street cred :P ;)

DeMoN 12-05-2006 12:58 PM

rice rocket? I own a stock G35 so I think the answer two your question is NO. Andas for LCD, just the factory GPS screen.

RC45 12-05-2006 02:33 PM

Hmmm.. coulda sworn the G35 was a rice-mobile :P

DeMoN 12-05-2006 03:41 PM

/sigh

here we go again. 1st of all, the car I drive has nothing to do with PS3 so I have no idea why you brought it up. 2nd of all, any car can be a rice-mobile if you choose to make it so. Your car, from what I read, has had some body changes and louder exhaust while my car hasn't had anything done to it. So if anything, your car is more of a rice mobile than mine is.

ae86_16v 12-05-2006 04:05 PM

"Wii is a core gaming device. It's a more fun, intuitive sort of product to pick up, where the PS3 is a broader entertainment solution; so you can have your fun, enjoyable gaming ... but then you have a whole suite of other applications ... such as Blu-ray media playback, the ability to access your music, access your photos and the interoperability with the PlayStation Portable."

- Nic Foster, General Manager, Sony

DeMoN 12-05-2006 04:12 PM

^ its like having a MCenter pc connected to your TV. You can access/play files and even browse internet. For now, since there are so few games for PS3, its just a toy more than a gaming console IMO.
