Casino Royale
Think it's about time to start a thread for Casino Royale, coming to the big screen on November 17!
Most of you probably seen the DBS already, so here's a glimpse of the new Ford Mondeo on the set of CR. With the body kit, it actually doesnt look bad at all! http://www.mi6.co.uk/sections/articl...deo.php3?t=&s= |
I reserved tickets for teh 22nd of november, the first official screening day :P
( there are some premiers in Switzerland on the 18th on, but I'm on holiday - David Craig is actually comming to the Swiss-premiere , he's only the second Bond caracter to be at a swiss premiere :good:, supposer to arrive in a AM :good:) |
AM, Mondeo and even the New BOnd Movie don't look bad
Im expecting a lot! :) Thanks! |
I saw the trailer recently. It looks fantastic. Pity they didn't show more of the DBS in it.

I do hope this movie is good unlike the pathetic last couple movies. Goldeneye was the last classy movie.

It'll never be as good as the original Casino Royale!
David Niven FTW! Seriously though, it does look like it'll be a really good film, and I hope that they take it back to the dark and gritty Bond of Dalton (an excellent Bond, btw). |

Actually, Lazenby is often rated by critics as one of the best Bonds, and OHMSS is seen as one of the better films in the franchise.

Lazenby had some sort of disagreement with Broccoli, who had wanted Roger Moore anyway, so he left.
It will be interesting to see what Daniel Craig brings to the role. He does seem to be more of a Dalton character - more flamboyant. |
Well I just got back from the movie, and it was much better than I expected. The new Bond is even better than I thought he would be, but he still doesn't measure up to Pierce and some of the others. The action was pretty good(a bit disappointed that there were no new gadgets), the Bond girl was pretty, and it had its funny moments. I'd give this movie a 7.5-8/10.
|
I just saw the movie last night and I tell you the film is great! It's way better than expected, which was a very pleasant surprice!
p.s. Except, maybe, the part when the DBS rolled over like 10 times just from turning harder, which is next to impossible especially on the wet ground. :) |
Saw it on Friday night (after a 2hrs line-up outside the theatre) and all I can say it, it's the best movie I've seen in the past few years. In no way it is directly comparable to the old Bond movies since everything is so different.
Overall, it's a much darker Bond and Daniel Craig did a good job. Should be interesting to see what the next Bond movie will be like when it comes out 2 years from now. I heard there'll be a cameo by Eva Green ;) For the DBS roll, apparently they tried to use a ramp to roll the car but the aston pretty much leveled itself in mid air and landed on 4 wheels. So they ended up using an air canon. There was a documentary on Making of Casino Royale on ITV or channel 5. |
^^^it was on 5th gear. They tested the manouvere on cars with similair weigh to the DBS and all went well but when it came to shooting with the DBS the car didn't want to flip over so they had to use the canon.
|
After reading many positive reviews, I also went to see it on Friday. Overall, the movie is not bad, but certain scenes are missing the link to reality. And most important of all, even tho Daniel tries very hard to imitate previous Bonds (e.g. water scene), but you can feel that something is still missing.
Spoliers Warning: If they plan on focusing so much on the poker scenes, at least make it look like a real poker game. There's no raise / re-raise, ppl just check / call. How the hell could you flip an AM like that? It's no Ford Explorer. When the entire building colapse into the water, how the hell could you have such clear water in the last scene. I thought Bond suppose to be a calm and smart gentleman, but this film seems to portait him as quite the opposite. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyways, at least I didn't feel rip off when leaving the theater, so I'll rate it a 6/10. |
I watched the film yesterday and I think it was much better than previous Bond films

I watched it, and I liked it. Its very different. A soild movie but I wont say its the greatest thing of the last couple of years. Most definetly is the best bond after GoldenEye. |

It annoyed the hell out of me that the movie is set in 2006 but it is the start of bond. That and the romance scenes were a bit moronic.
Where was the Q like charachter? Otherwise a great movie, tons of action. |
I watched the movie yesterday. It was better than I expected. Daniel craig did very good job IMO. I gave 8/10 to this film at IMDB.
|
I quit liked it.
It is a proper bond movie :D |

I got a bit bored at the middle really....and how is that sail boat suppost to pass under the Rialto bridge in Venice? And where is the DBS? I mean, its night and he wrecks the car, thats IT???? A bit disapointed really.....but it gets back at the end, very nice, when the building collapses :)
I liked better , ''Die another day'' ..... |
I have just seen in yesterday daniel graig dit a good job
But the end was really shitty to much romance to little action no decent car chase. The first part of the movie was really good it all got downhill when james bond is captured. :D :o :) |
Saw it today, the new approach is very refreshing, finally crappy and naive CG is gone making place for authentic stunts. And they finally got rid of the cheesy quotes. Too bad so little attention was paid to the DBS :(

For me, easily 8 out of 10, if not 9 out of 10. I agree with other's that it is the best Bond since Golden Eye. |

Dani - that torture scene was right out from the book. I thought it was grueling to watch. . . Definitely the best Bond since Golden Eye (same director). |
I just saw the movie tonight, late - I know, but I thought it was great.
The only reason I'm posting this - besides the fact that I want to keep you all up to date with my personal life :o - Is the following: I found it interesting that the prototype jet that Bond saves in the first 1/3 or so of the film resembled the "747" that 5th Gear pulled with the Volkswagen Touareg. It seemed to be a computer modified 747 with that strange 2x2 jet engine pattern + auxiliary fuel tanks.. dunno if that's important or not, but perhaps the jet from 5th gear was a model for the jet in the film. |
I watched the film yesterday too, Its more real, more danger, blood etc.
And, off course, the best of  Now I've news ideas for my "a007apl in Acitons" ___________________________   Wait me |

Action of the non cgi kind, funny dialog and not just slap stick one liners ALL the time, hot bond women who were natural beauties and damn that torture scene had my legs clenching just thinkin about it  Def a 9 out of 10 for me too. |
Very good movie, just watched it last night, the best from the recent ones for sure.
He is more human yet still a 007 and Eva Green is very beautiful. Spoilers To bad the Aston gets fucked quite soon. |

Maybe it is just a mock-up and not a real flyer? |

I just saw the movie. Im not really sure if I liked it or not yet. As just a movie, it was alright, but as a Bond film, I dont think it was that great. The movie centered too much around Bond's emotions showing that he was penetrable when Bond shouldnt be IMO.
It was a decent movie, but not a good Bond movie, if that makes any sense. |

It wasn't a bad movie per se, but I felt disappointed in a way after it was over. It felt like I watched a decent action/drama movie, not a Bond movie. |
Well, I kind of like that they're trying to change the very idea of what a Bond movie is supposed to be. I mean. Casino Royale was the first Ian Fleming book, so in a sense, Casino Royale should be what all Bond movies should have been in the first place.
Besides, some existing Bond movies were jokes, especially Die Another Day. I didn't think I was watching a Bond movie during that, honestly, but felt more like watching another Austin Powers movie. Halle Berry? Come on. Least attractive Bond girl ever. The other one was the fattest one ever too. Anyways. It was a very good movie and a good Bond movie too. It's kind of sad that people would go to see a Bond movie for silly gadgets and farcical plots. Hopefully new ones can change that. |

Like I said, I didnt think it was bad, it just ended up being a lot different than I thought it would be. And there was still way too much poker and cheesy romance for my liking. |
Haven't seen it yet... with Christhmas and all.. I've been busy on weekends, and on weekdays, after work, I just wanna crash on the sofa after dinner.
|
i saw it yesterday, i loved it, honestly one of the best Bond films ive ever seen IMO... i think its because it's no longer such an over-the-top boy fantasy film, it's more mature i think... and i like the grittier style of it too 8)
I can see why people feel it's not a proper Bond film since it's so different (btw License to Kill wasn't about world domination either), but i agree this is probably what they should've been like, Daniel Craig is a Proper Bond imo... and ow yeah Halle Berry's HOT :D |
Just back from the movie, and I think it's a great action movie. The story is really Bond too, but the movie isn't all that. Sure, Daniel Craig does a good job playing an inexperienced 007, but he's just too much Hollywood! James Bond should be a British bloke, then the jokes will actually be funny! It's like letting Bill Cosby make Rowan Atkinson's jokes.. Also the commercials in the movie bothered me a bit, how about 5 mins of using Sony devices in the movie :? Where are the good old days when that didn't occur.. I hope there will be a next Bond movie, this time without Craig and without all those (all to obvious) commercial thingies, and with a proper British Bond.
In short: Great action movie, great Bond story, bad Bond movie. 0X |

I thought Daniel Craig was British? No? |
