RICE CARS AND BIG WINGS!?

i think that the 2f2f and fatf movie was kool until the ppl started to put wings and shit to their cars, its pretty incredible here the rice has gonne?!!!!, even to ferrari and porsches!!!! in my country there is one 348 spyder ricedout ferrari, ive seen many bad shits, is it gonna take the world??? lol, thanx for you future opinions!

SupraPolak 01-04-2004 12:34 AM

Would you be talking about the whole GT-style wing thing? Usually I don't like to call "rice" but on this topic I have to agree, however, I don't know if this whole trend can be completely attributed to the FAFT & 2F2F movies.

Those movies may well have been contributing factors but I think a lot of the fault lies with the market itself. These Gt-Style wings are somewhat of a new'ish product and IMHO the businesses selling these POS wings are just preying on peoples stupidity and selling these things by the truck load :( just to make some $$$$

I can understand if a wing of such description is warrented because of the vehicles intended purpose as a race car but on a street car it is not only over the top but completely usless and a waste of money.

Sorry for the rant but that's just my $0.02 worth and I just hate most things that are more form rather than function.

BTW, I'd love to see any pics you may have of that riced out Ferrari, more as a "what not to do" than anything. Maybe the guy will even see his car on here and finally understand how wrong it is to do such a thing to any car, but even more so to a Ferrari!

:)

snacky 01-04-2004 12:42 AM

I hate WINGS on 4 door economy cars and pukeup trucks !!! I mean pickup trucks.

Wings on a race cars; I love em. Wings on airplanes, gotta have em. Wings on maxipads; ALL GIRLS SHOULD USE EM!!! otherwise it's

stracing 01-04-2004 12:50 AM

hey i was about the get a wing for my previous car. it produced downforce which i needed when i was on the track. my intention wasn't for show. but i wouldn't care what you say about it, as long as it helped

SupraPolak 01-04-2004 01:13 AM

What wing and what car? and how do you know it produced downforce? and how much downforce?

Then again, not to be rude, but read over the replies and you'll see that the only thing we had against wings are the big ass fugly ones people put on for show and nothing more.

For example, the big wing on MKIV Supras, it's BIG but it's factory proven to provide functional/useable downforce. Whereas you get a Hyundai Excel with a big bad aftermarket GT-style wing which does nothing except look fugly, see the difference.

snacky 01-04-2004 01:27 AM

if a servo is rated at let's say to push 20 lbs, and that say servo's job is to push up a rear wing on an 911 or a CGT. Wouldn't you say that's a gimmick?

coz the downforce in the above example has to be less than 20 lbs unless there's some locking mechanism. but that would add even more dead weight so there probably isn't a locking mechanism, or would they be so stupid as to put one on?

corvette97 01-04-2004 01:35 AM

well i only got the pics when the cars still clean and with just a few stickers, but i heard that has a ugly body kit and a shit muffler

corvette97,

Those pics are effin hillarious !!!OMG !!! LMFAO !!! HAHA !!!! those south americans ( anything south of USA is south america, lol) MUST be smoking their own crack !! OMG LMFAO !!!

Toronto 01-04-2004 01:52 AM

what i don't get is, most of these cars are front engine and fwd, so u would want most of the downforce in the front, so puttin a huge wing in the back might give u better grip, but if u want to improve your track times, focus more on generating downforce in the front of your rice rocket, *Then it could go as fast as REAL cars*

corvette97 01-04-2004 01:59 AM

just for record

everything above mexico: north america

from guatemala (where i live) to panama is : central america

from panama to chile 'punta de fuego' is: south america

believe me i've seen worst things, and this is just the begining

but accept that in the US there are things really badd :fadein:

corvette97 01-04-2004 02:01 AM

there is no excuse for extreme rice jaja :P

SupraPolak 01-04-2004 02:42 AM

man, rice rice everywhere LOL

Kangaroo Boy 01-04-2004 03:05 AM

I agree with SupraPolak but Some wings do work and some don't..What may look good doesn't mean it works and some civic owns should use that as good advised.
But for Race car for example, like A Holden V8 supercar the rear wings on them are designed to give alot of downforce and can be used for a purpose.I have no idea what the figures are on the V8 supercar but I know if the wing isn't setup properly valuable time is wasted by the lose of traction on the rear wheels.Wings do work but not on rice.lol.

it was for the s15. the back end at times gets a bit slippery. i know it produces downforce because my friend (also owned a s15) who was about to make it for me and himself worked in the aeronautics industry. he's moved on to a larger company which he is very busy and us two no longer have the car.

but i wouldn't get one that claims to produce downforce unless i see with it my own eyes.

SupraPolak 01-04-2004 05:23 AM

stracing that's all we were saying. If it serves a purpose, all well and good, if it's just for show then it's rice

Bavarias_Finest 01-04-2004 05:29 AM

I think they just want to fly up into the clouds......

the honda's civics and eclipses and shit, are RICE

Now, even every manufacturer is putting wings on almost their entire model line up to make sales :(

wings on an airplanes, they have function
wings on race/sports cars, they have function

wings on pukeup ...errr pickup trucks have function? yes, to look rice. hehe

pointless to answer you but,

ok, let see if you understand this...the stability of a pick up is not as good as the stability of a car or a sports car....did you understand that??

well, the srt-10 pickup has a srt10 viper engine on it, that means big power...
since the pickup is unstable, they add a wing, to add downforce,
haven't you seen the pickuptruck races? hu? well try to investigate a lil more about that truck and you will see the differnce beetwen rice and functionality!
8) keep it kool bro

snacky 01-05-2004 02:02 AM

well econo hatchbacks with lil skinny tires and soft springs aren't as stable as a race/sports car with fat tires, stiff springs and rigid frames, so wings are functional on them too right? NOT !

so it a lil honda has "big power" and can pull 12 sec 1/4 mile times , then wings arent' rice? NOT.

it's a pickup truck, nuff said, it's texan hickville long grain rice. hahahahaha

Quote:

shit, you need to read some more, it depends on the use that u are gonna give to the car (the econo hatchbacks), if its for SHOW, thats rice, if you are gonna use it for street use, thats rice, if you are gonna used at a drag strip, thats no rice even if its a honda...only at drag strips, theres diference beetwen aerodinamics and stupidity, i know that the shit i talked goes for the srt.10 too but, i think the wing is for drivers and passenger security;

"The rear wing is one of the most unusual features of the truck and it is fully functional, providing a 165 pound reduction in lift and provides a reduction in drag, which is a rarity for a wing. "

and.. read some more! look at this

snacky 01-05-2004 02:57 AM

ok, please define rice. as long as it's functional, it's not rice, right?

so posermobiles=rice right?

165 LBS?!?! I bet if someone's fat sister (165 lbs) sat on it, it would break. hahahaha. btw I dont have a fat sister.

corvette97 01-05-2004 03:00 AM

well i think we go into the sea of opinions, i think that is it look rice...is rice....if we talk about functionality ....if it doesnt have a function its rice....btw i dont like the srt-10 wing, sucks

stracing 01-05-2004 06:24 AM

thats how i define rice as well, if thers no function associated with it at all.

ie turbo timers on NA cars, shift lights on automatics, fake blow off valves etc

also its stupid to use a wing on a drag strip. wings will always have drag, but the advantages overcome disadvantages on a circuit

corvette97 01-05-2004 03:07 PM

Wings and that kind of dumb things only really "help" above 120km/hr, even when almost all cars can go over that speed, you can't drive 120 all the time.
And are all rice drivers know if their wings really help them to reduce fuel consumption? to bring more downforce?
in pick up trucks a wing helps... in nothing! Remember these are high or tall (sorry... their height above the pavement) and all the air that comes down the truck (even when it has diffusors, etc) makes the truck very unstable. If you want a truck with good stability, go and lower it like a car.

not all wings and accesories really work, they may be parasites.
come on guys, go and grab a fluid mechanics book

to make that comment you have to own a exotic/muscle/srt-10, have you read the link that i gave to one guy?????, to build a SRT-10 you need more than just a ....
Quote:

fluid mechanics book
the guys tha developed the SRT-10, know more than just fluid mechanics, these kind of books are for riceboys, if a stock car brings a WING, ( a really good car, exotic/muscle/any fast car/srt-10), just don't mess with that, the "mechanics"....the engineers that build these type of cars know why they put a wing that might look ricey on their car, but somehow these wing has a function!

SupraPolak 01-06-2004 07:27 PM

I tend to agree, most wings that look over the top that came factory for exotic and sports cars have definitely got a purpose where a lot of the aftermarket ones do not.

antonioledesma 01-06-2004 11:05 PM

not all wings work. Did you know that the lambo countach wing didn't work at all? even when it costed 4000dollars?

And that kind of books aren't just for rice boys, are for the engineers that developed all our cars.

I agree with suprapolak with: "most wings that look over the top that came factory for exotic and sports cars have definitely got a purpose where a lot of the aftermarket ones do not."

I know a guy from general motors, he's an engineer that tests and modifies the cars that come to my country, and told me that the marketing guys told the engineers to put a wing for marketing purpouses, for rice boys

zevolv 01-06-2004 11:23 PM

Wings on alot of those cheap FRONT wheel drive cars have absolutely NO purpous. the idea behind a spoiler/wing is to push the car down on the ground to keep traction on the drive wheels. front wheel drive cars only need the back wheels to keep the bottom of the car off the ground. The funniest thing is when the stupid ricers put the "wings" on backwards and have them pointing down like a plane wing defeating the whole downforce idea.

the countach, is a fine machine but the teach on it is old, the srt-10 has new tech, the wing on the srt-10 has a function even if u like it or not,and might look ricey but with a function, sorry but thats how things are!, you need more than a book to build a fine machine,
the DODE RAM SRT-10 is not for riceboys, its a a 50k$ machine, usualy riceboy dont buy this kind of cars,
where do you live anyway! iam from guatemala

antonioledesma 01-07-2004 12:36 AM

mmmm, you're right with the thing that riceboys don't buy $50k vehicles, almost all.

of course you need a lot more than a book to build a fine machine. The dodge daytona 69 needed that awful wing and the diffuser to handle the high speeds in the circuits, and it's "old teach", older than the countach. That's why you need fluid mechanics (look the new wings used in F1)

the same wing didn't have a real use outside the circuit.

snacky 01-07-2004 03:08 AM

SRT-10: it's a focking truck. yes a fast truck, but still an ugly ass truck, with an inherently not balanced for sports driving chassis and an idiot that cant stay in his/her own lane on the freeway or parking lot. and it IS RICE, it's texas long grain rice.

maybe the SRT's better balanced in South America where you're from cuz the water spins the opposite way down the toilet, eh corvette97?

frodefe 01-07-2004 04:13 AM

Your exactly right...I know for a fact many Porsche models have wings that come up after 60mph to cut back on resistance and centrifugal force. The fact is a wing on a Honda Civic - Accord - and other lower end cars serves no purpose for a car that can barely go 100mph without shaking its entire chasis. On the other hand the European and American autos you named can pass 100mph with no stability problem and in many cases their wings are merely nice spoilers that are barely 2inches high of the rear end. The Dodge Ram SRT-10 has the highest wing of all the cars you mentioned and its circular none the less.....I wouldnt call a car that is around 20k and does high 13s rice.....

mhn3773 01-25-2004 10:49 PM

ok i agree with u there..but something kinda bothers me a wing provides lift..whereass a "spoiler" provides downforce..theres a more technical explination mabey RC knows how to say it.

McLarenF1God 01-25-2004 10:49 PM

It's a phase many teenagers go through unfortuantely. I am not one of them and I think they are morons. There is no point in having a spoiler on a front wheel drive car on your mom's Civic going 40mph on the highway.
Geo Storm Type-R Buick GSX.

Riceboys are not whoever is driving an import. I saw a picture of a 355 and the owner had torn the "turbo" badge from a Porsche 911 and stuck it to his non-turbo 355. That is a riceboy. Riceboys make their cars LOOK fast not go fast. Stereotypes exist because a vast majority of the people follow it.

and the srt10 IS rice, if u want me to say that even tho i dont think that,

i consider a car RICE if it is slow, for example...

a skyline with 1000bhp with all rice shit...i dont care cuz' its a fu**** fast car, now a riced out honda civic with 150 bhp with a heavy body kit and heavy wings and heavy rims with tonly a fucking pipe and a filter with a poop can, shit thats rice, now a fast TRUCK with a fucking small wing is not rice
