Ferrari 599 GTO Mugello, design study

This is great looking car IMO, it's a design study by Michiel van den Brink (Holland) called the 'Ferrari 599 GTO Mugello'.

Quite nice, it looks a bit like the 575 Zagato.

TT 09-25-2006 06:10 AM

The idea it might be produced even if just for a very selected few customers makes me drool.. badly!

inso 09-25-2006 06:40 AM

why there is M like maserati in the front grille? nonetheless beauty, still.

saadie 09-25-2006 08:10 AM

after the 430 ... ferrari isnt the same for me ...
fancy electronics and gadgets are great ... but why cant they make a prettier face :?

@ inso .. I guess that M stands for Mugello.

Michiel Mobiel 09-25-2006 09:28 AM

The M is my logo and stands for Michiel.
I'm not allowed to sell this car with the prancing horse untill Ferrari gives its blessing.

Spijker 09-25-2006 11:55 AM

And another example of Dutch glory ;)

They also worked on the Spyker D12

inso 09-25-2006 01:55 PM

Michiel i like your concept, some old GTO like the holes in the front and other classic ferrari looking details, this should be kimi´s next personal transport.. Not too flashy, not too ordinary and still unmistakeably ferrari.

chest3r 09-25-2006 06:13 PM

It looks great!!!

I saw a photoshoped 599 Cabrio somewhere and it looked great. 8)

tom333 10-16-2006 04:08 PM

Too many retro details on that car and Ferrari is revolutionary in it's design, not evolutionary (911, mini...)

TopGearNL 10-16-2006 04:20 PM

I know Michiel, he makes some pretty amazing designs

I like most of them, just like this one WOW

dons5 11-13-2006 06:46 AM

Erez 11-13-2006 07:50 AM

So you are the actual coach builder then?

Thanks!

I'm not the coachbuilder, I'm the designer.
The actual coachbuilding will be performed by Alwin Hietbrink.

HeilSvenska 01-05-2007 12:24 PM

Really pretty car. Definitely a lot prettier than the 599 Fiorano.

pterps 10-11-2007 02:32 AM

The 599 GTO is ready for production!

For the engine specs have a look at:

http://www.vandenbrinkdesign.com/ind...d=29&Itemid=57

Vandenbrink GTO

Vandenbrink Design joins the revival of special coachbuilding by presenting their design of the GTO, a tribute to the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO.

The GTO was designed in 2006 by Michiel van den Brink, who founded the Vandenbrink Design company with business partner Robert Koumans in the Netherlands.
The worldwide acclaim the artist impressions received exceeded all expectations; TopGear even wrote "Ocular Nirvana: arguably the best-looking car in the world". The overwhealming response put the bar high, but it encouraged Vandenbrink to accept the challenge by prepairing the design for production.

The coachwork will be completely new; the only remaining visible parts unaltered are the A-pillars and front window. Everything else visible will be of our own design, handcrafted following the classic tradition in aluminium by Dutchman Alwin Hietbrink.
Hietbrink is worldwide known for his excellent aluminium craftsmanship in restoration and rebuilding projects such as the genuine Ferrari 250 GTO, 250 GT SWB, 250 Testa Rossa, 250 GT Drogo, 275 GTB, 365 GTB Daytona, 212 Vignale and many other types.

Like all original Ferrari 250 GTOs were different in details and therefore individually unique, each Vandenbrink 599 GTO will be different too.

Optional interior/upholstery redesign will be performed by the Dutch craftsman Henk van Lith, also worldwide known by his specialization in the making and designing of high quality Italian interiors. They are absolute specialists with Ferrari cars.

The GTO is technically based on the superb Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano platform.

In cooperation with race engineering expert EDO Competition two versions are offered:

- 599 GTO (650 hp)
- high performance 630 GTO (> 750 hp)

Correction: "P4/5 by Pininfarina" is the official name. ;)

I understand the amount of effort it must take to design something like this, but I just can't find this design particularly beautiful. But, I personally like the 599 GTB, so what do I know?

pterps 10-11-2007 02:00 PM

Michiel, nice publication in Autovisie today, it's great hearing that you are still busy with this stunning car. I hope to see the production process myself next year ;)

Interesting to hear the cooperation with Edo, and the power of the engine!

ae86_16v 10-11-2007 02:48 PM

Don't like it. . . :(

I really like the idea of new coachbuilders working on production Ferraris and turning them into something unique. It's how it worked in the 50s and 60s... and we've already got a VERY GOOD example in the shape of the 612 P3/P4

Heard about a Edo 599XX a while ago, looks like the project is more clear now
