My first car: Mitsu Eclipse Turbocharger in que
** Update march 26, 2010 - pg.2 **
Just got it this past week, The dealer was asking $11,950 CDN but sold it for $11,150. It has an I4 2.4L engine and around 150hp, manual, 6 disc changer, power everything, and i will put in leather seats later on. The pics are crappy, i know, but i'll take more when i take it to more interesting places. http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/7...0958dl5.th.jpg http://img415.imageshack.us/img415/6...943pbo9.th.jpg http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/6...945pav8.th.jpg http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/8...944prg4.th.jpg http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/6...0946or6.th.jpg http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/9...0950eq4.th.jpg http://img214.imageshack.us/img214/8...0947te5.th.jpg http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/1...0954wv2.th.jpg http://img125.imageshack.us/img125/6...0966tm7.th.jpg |

So I just got some new custom made seats courtesy of my friend who's company puts leather seats into cars. They are Blue Suade interior, Black leather exterior with blue stitching, blue leather shifter and center console top, and they are all heated seats now. Total cost: $0.00 Got it as a b-day present  http://img164.imagevenue.com/loc480/..._122_480lo.JPGhttp://img13.imagevenue.com/loc365/t..._122_365lo.JPGhttp://img149.imagevenue.com/loc411/..._122_411lo.JPGhttp://img140.imagevenue.com/loc564/..._122_564lo.JPG http://img15.imagevenue.com/loc600/t..._122_600lo.JPG |

Update Oct 23, 2007 - New Rimz and Tyres
http://img124.imagevenue.com/loc908/..._122_908lo.JPGhttp://img184.imagevenue.com/loc78/t...0_122_78lo.JPGhttp://img144.imagevenue.com/loc777/..._122_777lo.JPGhttp://img193.imagevenue.com/loc210/..._122_210lo.JPG yes I know what all of you are gonna say..... I will lower it when I have the money The tires are Yokohama Parada Spec-2 P225/40R18 Rims are Konig Hotswap 18x8 |
Congrats on the car.
I like the look of the Konigs. Too bad its faux carbon fibre. What kind of coil-overs are you thinking of getting? |
So I got some new stuff since i last posted in here, new springs and shocks, heavy duty clutch, short ram intake, tailights.....
Anyway, biggest mod are the new brembo brakes from the lancer Evo 8. I got them for $550 cdn for all 4 corners (no pads, no pins, no clips, no mounting bolts, just calipers, will do rears later on in the year) I had to get all the other parts separately (pins and clips were so much more expensive than i thought) Pads are Hawk HPS and discs are from Girodisc. I had to use my stock brake lines cause the evo lines kept hitting my wheel and my wheels have a 40+mm offset but I had to take out the brake disc shields to add another 1mm and I had to use a 3mm spacer so in total 44mm offset to clear the calipers. http://img249.imagevenue.com/loc71/t...y_122_71lo.jpghttp://img255.imagevenue.com/loc347/..._122_347lo.jpghttp://img41.imagevenue.com/loc103/t..._122_103lo.jpghttp://img217.imagevenue.com/loc421/..._122_421lo.jpg http://img102.imagevenue.com/loc405/..._122_405lo.jpg |
yours is a nice car, I will be honest and say that the body style I like the most is the second gen 94-99, I have seen some like yours with body kits and they look fantastic, I suggest you do take a look at some kits, they are pretty cheap for older models, I am glad you chose this one instead of the newer incredibly girly one, I know a guy that has a GS 3rd gen and he stuffed a turbo onto his 4g64 and that thing is diabolically fast, is yours the v6? there are so many go fast parts for that car... I have even heard of superchargers for the 6
I own a VR4, I am also a fan of mitsubishi, just wished they went back to making cars without compromise... the new eclipse makes me cringe when I see it |
Mine is the I4, and i am considering a small lip kit for it (not a fan of the full bodykits
and i've been going back and forth with putting an evo 3 turbo in it for months now, almost did a few weeks ago but then i started doing some money calculations and for me it's just not worth it... or feasible |
Looking good. Have you had a chance to take that little beastie to a road course and enjoy all the add-ons yet?
|
yep, took it to a small track that we have around here (actually the only one) and it did pretty good...... in the corners, down the straights i couldn't pass anyone, but then again the only other "slow" car on that day was my friends Audi TT quatro the rest were all Porsches, BMW M3s and some american V8s
|
Sounds fantastic - get some video next time you are out there - its always great fun to ride along with other folks.
|
how much will it cost you to get all the parts for a turbo kit? my friend says it took him like $3,200 to get every thing he needed, including injectors, fuel pump, fpr, boost controller, used Apexi S-afc, a 13g turbo off a second gen eclipse and custom made manifold, he is using an intercooler from a 96 Talon tsi that he got from ebay for like 100 bucks, but of course he did all the welding, cutting and made his own piping, he does have the 4 cyl GS model like yours, he is now making 267fwhp and trapping 109mph and 13.xx sec quarter on pump gas and get this, he has the tiptronic trans, which is a feat of great proportions, at 7 psi but of course also his car has no ac and he is on stock internals so he can't push it too much yet, I believe there is potential for your car, I don't think that was a lot to spend to be faster than even the newer V6 eclipses, but I must also mention that he gutted the car of almost all creature comforts and back seats are gone
|
I calculated it to be the roughly the same for the parts (in USD, exchange rate will rape me a bit in these times) but i'd also have to spend money on tuning (haven't got a clue how to tune) and a new computer either piggy back or standalone, and add on all that taxes and shipping for some of the parts to canada and it would total up to almost $6000 Cad. in my opinion it's not worth it for an extra 80 or so hp.
So i was just thinking of keeping it NA and add some headers and a proper cold air intake and continue working on the suspension and then in 2 or 3 years sell it for a car that comes stock with a turbo that i can then upgrade, my car currently has almost 200,000km |
get a second gen eclipse GSX, easiest car to mod there is and is AWD turbo, heck even a VR4, but I must tell you that modding a VR4 is not cheap, not for one second, neither is the FD, I dumped close to 25 grand in my FD over the years... that is why that car is never getting sold, I am planning on getting my hands on a supra one of these days... just so I can open my garage and see all three in there, hopefuly I'll be able to with my bonus, in 5 years my little girl will be able to drive... I may get her an eclipse, I am not sure yet

nice, a whole mitsu family :)

Update march 27 2010
Rear drum to Evolution 8 disc swap This is what the drum looked like inside..... plenty of meat still left on the shoes http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/v...ke_swap_02.jpg Drum and Hub off, caliper and line on http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/v...ke_swap_04.jpg All back together http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/v...ke_swap_10.jpg so now my car has the same braking system as a rally car :) took it out for a test drive earlier today and what a difference disc brakes make. stopping requires even less brake pedal force and it is one of the best upgrades i've done |
I love my brembos...but they squeal like hell
|
love the Nordschlife decal :)
Photos look good :) While your car continues to look better, mine is going the other direction LOL. Time for a new car soon I think! |
^^ thanks
what do you have? |
The car looks really clean, lower it a little ? I wish you were closer to Miami, I would like to take some pictures of your ride.

Clean Eclipse; Tastefully done. The rims are a little too showy for my liking, but overall the car still looks good.
|
Just got my hands on this cute little turbo. It's a Borg Werner K04 from a Mazda CX-7 and it burns up oil so i'm gonna rebuild it and eventually later in the year (depending on my finances) put it in the Eclipse. I know a lot of you are going to say "īt's waayy too small" but my hp goals are small (~210-230) so this quick spooling turbo should do the job.
http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/v...o/IMG_0025.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/v...o/IMG_0026.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/v...o/IMG_0027.jpg http://i687.photobucket.com/albums/v...o/IMG_0028.jpg |
I wouldn't say too small ;)
If it were a larger turbo, then I'd wonder what you had already done to bolster the bottom end. Nice, and that will definitely liven up the Eclipse :) |
LSD coming up next?? ;-)
