Damm that car has some traction no wheelspin at on the street compared than let's say a toyota supra turbo or any other rwd front engined car.
I think this will be the new king on the streets when he has the stage 2 turbo setup and supporting mods.
Their will be sometime this year a new video of this beast now with the stage 2 setup bigger turbo's gt42r's build bottom end new inlet exhaust cams tilton clutch better fueling setup.
Anyone now how much horspower can the stock ford gt chassis and brakes handle?
:D

I'm guessing we'll find out. Although, I'm sure the brakes will be upgraded. It'll be a question of how much that block can handle. I'm sure a core won't be cheap...but he clearly has money to cover the R&D on this experiment. :D

pagani 09-19-2006 01:31 PM

I think the block will be ok for 1500 hp maby more but they have to modefied the block to get 1500 whp out of it.
With i really want to how the handling now is with all the extra power.
:D

the GT has much technology from endurance racing, and drag racing in its engine, and transmission. I know the engine is specifically designed to bear out 800 hp from a supercharger.... so 1000 + hp via turbos basically.

the brakes likely wont need any uprating, as they are already AMAZING.

the chassis is good for it all :)

also, the secret to traction is a couple things

1. 650 hp on 1rst gear
2. 2nd - 6th the rest is added ;)
3. This is probobly the only GT that accellerates quite nicely in 6th after you run out of 5th :D

pagani 09-19-2006 02:13 PM

The perfect car for tuning then if you have allot of cash.
But they have problems finding a drag radial tire for 19 inch wheels.
Maby we schould email this topic to jeremy clarkson they he will be really green with envy that his car is just not a good example of the ford gt.

AWESOME!! I just finished watching the documentary...can I just say the ending is madness....

hemi_fan 09-19-2006 11:28 PM

this car is the ultimate, no doubt about it... this guy also clearly has money... after losing to a 'turbo'd busa' of all things... Cars are not meant to go faster than turbo'd hyabusas so to know that he refuses to accept that defeat shows how deep his pockets are. This car is absolutely sick... walks away from a turbocharged mustang with no problems at all... rediculous.

How is 800bhp with a supercharger equivalent to 1000+ bhp with turbochargers?? :|
And if he starts putting drag sliks on it and goin for times with 1000+ bhp i'd guess something in the drivetrain is going to go otherwise the car was excessively over engineered by ford...

espen 09-20-2006 01:16 PM

Yes, as angine reliability goes, 800hp on supercharger probably loads the engine like 1k or more on turbos. You have to add the considerable parasitic drag of the supercharger - the engine is makein 1k hp, but the charger is using 150-200hp so it nets 800 crank hp. Superchargers are tolerable for low pressure use, enything else they are at best inferior.

As for traction, the GT like most supercars probably has a neutral or rear biased weight balance. Compared to your average FR car, that means more weight over the driving wheels - which leads to better traction.

I don't rate the GT as a competitor to the Veyron, but I think the GT is a much better allround package than competitirs like Saleen or Mosler.

pagani 09-20-2006 02:25 PM

I think when joe is running the stage 2 turbos but the other mods it will slay almost every car on the road(99,9% ) and maby even beat the veryron and it's will be a good match for most motorbikes.
A stock gt is not match for a veryron a in straightline but joe's gt is good a match.

superchargers eat up a lot of engine power, without that parasitic reduction, the GT could run quite a bit faster.

the stock supercharger eats about 100-120 hp.

as far as the drivetrain.... the car is designed very well.... although, it hasn't been without its flaws... those are over at the GT forum. Who knows how long it will last.... but so far so good, which is a testimant to its durability :)

Tarmangani 09-24-2006 07:44 AM

this car is a monster

I beg to differ. The GT has too little weight over the driving wheels. On road legal tires it would be left for dead by the awd Veyron. In the film you can clearly see the GT can't even put down its power cleanly using slicks on a drag strip; that's about as good as conditions get.

Thx for sharin'it :!:  ...great car, good sound :!: 8)
