i'll post it tomorrow.

btw: no photoshop editing was done on the pics (only retouching the license plate). cam used is a "canon ixus 700" (i think it's called powershot 500 or so in the us, 7 mpix). pics were taken using a tripod (of course) and an exposure time of up to 12 seconds. i have to admit that i didn't expect such good results while taking the pictures... however the first pics in the series are a bit too dark and a little blurred. but what can you expect from such a small cam

dutchmasterflex 09-04-2006 07:26 PM

Damn I love that car..

But as mentioned above, you have to provide a "custom shot" which includes the bmw M3 CSL manual and keys with the car..

poltz 09-04-2006 09:59 PM

God. F******. Damn.

BEAUTIFUL!

5vz-fe 09-04-2006 10:07 PM

Nice pics.....

svenson69 09-05-2006 01:18 AM

here you go:
m3 e46 manual, csl manual (differences to the regular m3), keys, and the car.

RC45 09-05-2006 01:27 AM

Nice car and nice pics for sure.

It's the only 3 series I would consider ;) - even though it's a little underpowered :P

But seriously - nice car and great pics.

ae86_16v 09-05-2006 01:45 AM

Cool car. . . nice pictures.

I didn't know that the CSL had its own separate manual. Makes sense though.

How about some pics of the interior and during the day please :).

TT 09-05-2006 05:34 AM

Welcome dude and stunning pics.

Me desire an indepth with your car to add to my website so baaaad!

bultaco_metralla 09-05-2006 06:46 AM

Beautifull images!!!! i love it!! Very nice car you have there.... BTW you Suck!! :D :D

StanAE86 09-05-2006 11:21 AM

Nice set of shots. I really like the backdrop you chose to shoot at. I wish there was a little more front lighting so you can see the car better.

When you have a moment, take some shots of the car all over, interior, etc. and put it up in the "What do you Drive or Ride" section. The CSL is a rare one, so it'd be nice to see some all around shots. Anything in particular you notice about the car that you like or dislike?

Thanks again for sharing your photos! :D

twboy1999 09-05-2006 11:38 AM

i love the csl

i think it has one of the best exhaust note on anycar

stmoritzer 09-05-2006 11:44 AM

can't see the pics :bah:

cool to see another swiss member on JW :hello:

bmagni 09-05-2006 12:20 PM

Nice car, I just love it, interior shots and/or drving impressions would be appreciated :D

yeah, why not making some daylight shots? however, this would conflict with the topic name "@ nite"
next time the car is cleaned i'll do some "@ day" shots

@Svenson69, guys the guys are just jokeing, as for the location, i'm trying to
recognize the buildings etc., where did you take those awesome shots?

and, nice car btw, not at all underpowered.

yes, you're right. anyway, i didn't expect that good results at all. of course there's a lot to improve, i hope i'll soon get the chance for another try at this location, using a better cam and ambient lighting/flashes.

it's really a rare car. something like 80 units or so available in switzerland where i live, 1367 in total (824 lhd, 543 rhd), excluding the u.s. where none has been sold afaik.

what i absolutely love is the noise of that airbox! it's so loud i don't hear the exhaust anymore 8) the car feels a lot faster only because of that noise. the handling has been improved over the regular m3 (just had a m3 e46 smg-ii for 4+ years), the brakes have more bite, but in general the car has less comfort for every day usage (no heavy stereo bass, no built-in navigation system, no seat heating, ...). for me the right choice, i don't really need that - i don't drive several hours a day.

well it's not a famous or public place. it's located north/west of the city zurich. it belongs to the company i work for.

Well - these days, anything less than about 450 to 500bhp is under powered.. even for a corner carver ;)

r2r 09-05-2006 02:48 PM

Great car, and very nice pics considering what camera you used!!

Love the CSL, and hope to see more pics soon.

Welcome to JW!!

svenson69 09-06-2006 07:51 AM

yep, the results surprised me too. this is the cam i used:

http://www.canon.com.au/images/big_p...le%20small.jpg

i think the most important tool for night shots is a tripod.

Iwan 09-06-2006 08:10 AM

...Regensdorf or Oerlikon area? I live south of zurich, between zurich and zug.

@RC45, as long as 99 % of all cars on the road are within a 150 BHP range i think
it doesn't matter if 300, 350 or 450 horses...doesn't it?

davide 09-06-2006 10:30 AM

Amazing shots!! I'm really impressed!

I got some more desktops that for sure!

Nice car too :P

Uhm - the difference between 300 and 450 HP is huge.. 150bhp to be exact :P

Unless you are now saying that the power diff. between a Porsche 997 C2 and 997 Turbo are hardly even worth mentioning?

svenson69 09-06-2006 12:33 PM

@rc45:
if i got iwan right, it's more about the fact that all those slower cars stop you from going faster, no matter whether you have 300 or 1001 hp. of course 300 hp is not 450. and on a race track you can feel the difference, but depending on your driving skills you can easily have an overpowered car.

i think the 360 hp of the csl is quite a good compromise

Iwan 09-06-2006 12:35 PM

@RC45, not the point, but if you're saying a 360 BHP car is underpowered i would
say the difference between a 997C2 and 997TT is neglible - yes!

as a matter of fact, the underpowered CSL does outrun any 997C2, could
even make a 997 S's life unconfortable.

anyway, a the end of the day, we're all somehow spoiled about all those great
reviews, pic's, comments, stories etc. but the reality is different......and goes
back to my previous mentioned 99 %.

Sure - and thats why they sell the TT and why its quicker I suppose? ;)

Power has never mattered to those without it :P

And this has what bearing on the 997 TT?

That doesnt mean that you can't enjoy and daily drive 490bp.. ;) - and still be quicker than the 99%.

Iwan 09-06-2006 01:14 PM

@RC45, got the message, doesn't make sense to argue.

Oh - you are arguing?

Maybe if you pulled your uptight euro-biased head out your backside you might look passed the "argument" - see the emoticons and understand that not the entire english speaking world is so angst-ridden and rigid.

Lighten up pal.

Again - if you took your superior head out your tight pooptube long enough to get some fresh air - you would have seen that congratulations were offered for his ride a long while back.. but you missed that post because you were too busy extricating your cranium from uranus... :P right?

Jeaulous?

Jeaulous of what? An under powered family car with a cardboard boot floor and a legendary BMW self-grenading 6 cylinder?

Sure.

Again - lighten the hell up there.

p.s. - just in case your "angry euro translator" was switched to kill instead of stun... the entire post is an attempt to get you to NOT be so serious and angry and actually read the messages posted in the context they are made - and actually comprehend the emoticons peppered throughout.

But then again, the chances of this explanation being actually understood and taken in the right light are about as much as the EU being able to agree on a single thing. :P

Iwan 09-06-2006 01:39 PM

dude, there is absolut no point to get personal here allright? not my problem if you
feel affected, my comment above is a general comment - got the message?

will not comment further posts on this topic and will give you gladly the opportunity
to have the final say as it seems you need that.

cheers iwan

ok, rc45, time to cool down

enjoy your overpowered whatever car you own and lets get back to topic, the pictures, thanks.

Holy Shit - you actually failed to read/comprehend ANYTHING that was posted.

It would seem that just because you can read and write english does not mean you are able to understand or comprehend humour, inuendo, suggestion or hyperbole.

You euro-folks really are angry and uptight.

maybe its that silly mazzeratty you drive - must require you to be pissed off at everything in sight - right?

In case you lost your handy "Phrase Book" -- :D :) :o   8) and :P are emoticons.. used to denote the humour, intent and general theme of a message - when they are included in the test being posted, you should read them into the actual sentences and then imagine the person posting the message might be laughing, chuckling or otherwise be in a jovial mood and that the ENTIRE intent was simply to break the ice and offer an otherwise candid and personal view to an otherwise dry and dull world.

Put another way - lighten up.

Oh - and it does look like I got the last word.. unless you want to have it? (see - that was a joke... maybe they don't allow people over 30 in europe to have a sense of humour *shrug* <-- see that's sarcasm... <-- oh, so is that.. )

See - at least this bloke actually gets it... laugh a little.. don't take yourself so seriosly... but then again 490bhp is not overpowered.. thats just right.. ;)

svenson69 09-06-2006 01:55 PM

ok, rc, enough of this anti-eu stuff, please. switzerland is not member of the eu anyway...

to me it looks more like you are the pissed guy here. compare the length of your post to the posts of iwan -- a humorous guy just puts an emoticon, no need to justify himself by writing a book.

8)

I am going to assume you are joking with this post.

If not then once again - exactly who or what crawled up your and your buddies arse?

Why on earth are you europeans so goddamned uptight?

Uhm - "justify" was sarcastic hyperbole.

I am guessing that while you folks may be fluent english speakers.. you are not fluent english comprehenders.

Wow - simply wow.

I can actually imagine how the world has had so many bloody wars over the centuaries...

there are those that sort of well, roll with the punches and get along... and then there are the uptight.

So heres another book for you to read.

There is no doubt that the austrians, swiss and germans are quite humourless - because when ever one tries a little snide sacry tit for tat they (as in you and your buddy included) get all pissed off.

So bcak to your original statement... angry? whos angry...??

The internets are a humourous outlet for some of us... think of it as the place you go to unwind... ah never mind... I forgot you're too uptight to unwind.

(So again - just to be clear, the above is sarcastic and caustic with the intent of being brash and aggressive humour that tries to see how far you cna be pushed until you just lighten up - unless you really are angry and pissed because I called your car underpowered? ;)) <--- BTW - see thats humour again. :)

nthfinity 09-06-2006 05:19 PM

a very nice car svenson! the CSL is definately an amazing vehicle... and...

well, underpowered might be accurate :P you see... after driving 400 hp cars, and even 600 hp cars, and a shotgun ride in a 750 hp car... you begin to see that 400 is no longer fast, 600 isn't fast enough. Of course, there is a limit to what is ideal for a given chassis.

even so, your car performs amazingly at NS, and other tracks as well :)

This is true... no one could take away from the package that is the CSL... and a great package it is. :)

NBTBRV8 09-09-2006 07:33 PM

It is good to see that you have one of the fast ones being black, not the slow silver ones with the extra weight due to the metallic paint

We've got a black one too, welcome to the club. They are a super impressive car.

DeMoN 09-11-2006 11:49 PM

Some of shit in here is unbelievable.....but expected really.

Anyway, great car svenson!!! Always been a big fan of the CSL, the "common" M3 can get a bit boring but definately not the case with your car. Great photos too.

cooperluke 09-12-2006 07:31 PM

Gee.. only nuts around here... an M3CSL being underpowered, another one with mettalic paint is refered as the "slow silver one"... gee...

I would like to see your garbage bin!!! :D

Johns 09-12-2006 10:49 PM
