SSC Ultimate Aero Twin Turbo - 1180hp

Not sure whether I have included (or updated when I heard about this one half a year ago) this into my former "ultimate cars of the future" crystal ball where most of you wouldnīt believe and say the horsepower figures are ridiculous and unreal but it is here.

pics?

TeflonTron 08-22-2006 06:55 PM

What does it weigh, as you have it down as 422lbs?!

McLaren4eVa 08-22-2006 09:24 PM

^^^^ I think 422lbs is the wieght of the engine. It is a light car previous versions were around the 1 tonne mark. would 1500BHP be legal. 1500BHP in a 1 tonne car thata power to weight ration of 1500BHP per tonne thats formula one territory.

TeflonTron 08-22-2006 10:15 PM

^ Yeah, that sounds about right, and that kind of power in that kind of car would make it crazy fast!

HeilSvenska 08-22-2006 10:26 PM

but it's so ugly.

racer_f50 08-22-2006 10:40 PM

ugliness may be the price payed for going over 270mph with stability.

if that thing comes to production i'll be very impressed, but i'm hopeful as I'd love to see some reviews of it :D

nickthaskater 08-22-2006 10:53 PM

I like the look of it, though I've heard from people who have seen it up close in person that the quality is on the poor side.

The last thing i'de want is poor quality at 270mph. "oops, there goes my mirror"

That's the least of the problem when you're goint 270mph. "oops, there goes my brakes, and my tires, my windshield, and the back half."

crazidude 08-23-2006 02:25 AM

Geez, the 1180hp one already had over 950lb/ft of torque. With the 1500hp one, having tires would be useless, you'd need something like tracks for a tank.

as was already said, the engine's 420 lbs

mv 08-23-2006 06:45 AM

The post has been edited, now itīs probably clear how much the car weighs in at.

The first Aeros were of very poor quality. But it is getting better with every version they unleash.

The former 1050hp supercharged version was tested in Road and Track and they were actually impressed.

"Just when you thought the supercar war was over, out of nowhere come two potentially Veyron-whopping cars from an American company called SSC.

The Ultimate Aero averaged an impressive 73.1 mph besting the former Road & Track slalom record holding Ferrari Enzo by 0.1 mph" -- Road & Track magazine

nickthaskater 08-23-2006 06:59 AM

Has anyone actually tested the top speeds of the Aeros? All I've seen are figures based on mathematical calculations, no real world testing.

mv 08-23-2006 02:35 PM

They are planning on entering a Top speed competition, set to be held in mid-2007. So as to make sure they win it, they keep on improving on its power. The target is 1500hp and 2500lbs.

McLaren4eVa 08-23-2006 02:52 PM

A car with 1500BHP is going to need some serious downforce to keep it stable the veyron has ONLY 1000bhp yet it has a huge double spoiler 4wd and loads of other gizmos. How would this cope with 1500BHP. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

BUMP

new article about the SSC Ultimate Aero TT

http://www.classicdriver.com/de/maga...00.asp?id=4045

71% on the pedal gave 388km/h already, ..... they expect 440km/h (?) with 100% pedal down :hmm:
I'm not sure about this, since the power you need to get over the last km/h is a lot more than the ones youneed to reah 350, 380km/h ...
looks like the Veyron Speedrecord is possibel, but IMO not 440.

The spoiler on the Veyron is regressed when you want to go max speed. If it's up, it produces too much downforce and the car can't reach maximum speed...

saadie 08-13-2007 05:35 AM

^^ with 4 wheels ? :P  ....
it works best when going downhill   init? ... ...
