Williams confirms 2007 Drivers...

and Webber is out!!!

Wurz and Rosberg are officially the drivers for next years Toyota powered WilliamsF1 cars.

I feel so bad for Webber though, he is fast but has an inconsistent car that breaks down at the most inopportune time. :|

nthfinity 08-02-2006 02:02 PM

that is really crap, because Webber is very consistant IMO; but the car is unreliable; where he's regularly in contention for a podium, where Rosberg isn't.

hopefully Webber moves to Renault, that would be really interesting

I am surprised by Wurz, not that he isn't good but I didn't think about him ... I think that he's got talent and will make a good job (for free :?: )
Webber will maybe go to Renault ...

dannyroz 08-02-2006 02:36 PM

There is a rumor saying Webber might go to Red Bull to replace Klein but I doubt he would want to be a backup driver to DC this late in his career

But what do I know, Im just some schmuck on a forum :P

st-anger 08-02-2006 03:20 PM

"WURZ WURZ WURZ, lang lebe WURZ" :P

.......................i´m from austria, u know

Finally? Wurz drove for the old Benetton team for some time. It's about time Webber moved on from Williams. I also hope he drives for Renault.

Webber favourite for Renault drive

nickthaskater 08-03-2006 04:42 AM

I'd be surprised if Renault took Webber over Kovalainen...

davide 08-03-2006 04:59 AM

..and Kimi signed for Ferrari for 5 years

But I don't think this is confirmed by Kimi or any agent, just an article of what might be going on.

5 year contract, get €160 mil... that's what I call a salary!

nickthaskater 08-03-2006 07:09 AM

That's right next to Schumacher's last reported salary (a little less, but close).

Though as far as I know, that's just a rumor at the moment.

LotusGT1 08-03-2006 08:49 AM

Well it makes sense. With Brawn rumored to be taking a 1-year leave it looks more and more likely. Ferrari obviously still believes MS is the best driver, but they're shrewd enough to realize that at most he will drive 2 more years (and that would be a stretch) while Kimi could drive for another 10 years. So, do you sacrifice Kimi for one-year of MS? No. My guess is they're asking MS to drive alongside Kimi or take his leave. MS should stay and drive by KR.

That would be a good show regardless of the competiveness of Ferrari :D

This is great news IMO, time Webber gets a drive in a real team - Renault would be a nice opportunity for him to show what hes got.

Mattk 08-03-2006 11:41 AM

Yeah. He was 5th on debut in a Minardi. That's something.

LotusGT1 08-07-2006 03:06 PM

Webber to Red Bull

Yep would be great to see Webber with a car thats actually reliable and let him finally finish a race on the podium.

Then just as I wrote this I went to Formula1.com and find he's signed with Redbull not Renault. Oh well

I would of stayed with Williams, but its not up to Webber. there were rumors a few weeks back that Webber might be leaving and this just confirms that the rumors were right.

all the luck to him but Wurz isnt a bad driver either.

Appearantly it was up to Webber...

Frank Williams has revealed that Mark Webber chose not to re-sign with the Grove-based team because he had the prospect of a better offer elsewhere.

Williams caused surprise on Wednesday when it announced that test driver Alex Wurz will partner Nico Rosberg in its 2007 line-up.

The team had been expected to keep its current pairing of Webber and Rosberg.

Its option to keep Webber for ’07 expired on Monday, and Williams explained that it was not taken up because the Australian was holding out for an opportunity with another team and would not commit to his current employers.
