Hott damn, isn't it gorgeous?!? But i doubt an Audi will ever have the ability to be "light weight."

KTM first contacted parent company Volkswagen about building a roadster, but since VW was already developing the GX3, the KTM proposal was shifted to Audi. The possibility of a KTM-Audi partnership was first revealed in January.

A car is actually under development. KTM is reportedly delegating such tasks as sourcing a carbon fibre chassis from other motorsports partners. The car is expected to have similarities to the VW EcoRacer Concept (link below). It will weigh around 1,600 pounds and get about 50 mpg, AE reckons. It should have a sub-six-second 0-60 time.

I actually like it though i have never heard about that they plan such a car. I´d really like to see it becoming reality.

indeed its a nice looking car, though, as many other said, i doubt it will be a rival to the eyes of the lotus elise.

Looks excellent and the idea sounds promising, but I don't really see Audi making it since they already have the TT and will shortly have the TT spyder.

I think the S2K and Z4 are its rivals not the Elise. I just don’t believe they will be able to make that only weigh 1,600 in production. The wheels alone look like they weigh more than that!! :o

Looks like this car fell off the ugly tree and hit every brance down.

Look at that face? Sure it has functional air intakes but why make it so ugly?

Sort of has the body of a Saturn Sky too..

Audi could do it if they wanted to, they just don't know if people will buy it.

I very like this new Audi "lightweight roadster", it's a great idea. The front of the car looks very aggressive. :twisted:

You know like me that Audi AG. can be "light weight" when we looking their racing car models such the R8 and R10, thus they are able to do that, they need only to apply their Racing light weight technologies to their mass-production cars. This is their main goal now on the future RS4 Plus and the next RS6. :wink:

The front is too extreme for me, but i really like the idea behind the car.
I also duobt Audi will make it a reality :hmm:

True - but both RS4 Plus and RS6 will be up beyond 1600kg at least... :?

You know, we're talking about roadcars here... and being made by Audi - there're some minimum requirements that will make the car "heavy" (1000kg for this kind of cars is heavy).

Selling it under the KTM badge, as an "Audi-engineered" car, and using the Audi dealer network... well - that would be the best option IMO... or selling it under the Seat badge!! :wink: :P

But dani you forget the new TT! With aluminium construction (pretty much their first attempt at weightsaving bar A8/S8 ) it seems they did rather well. Lost weight compared to the older model and its now pretty handily weighted. I have trust in Audi ;)

the look of this car is nice, looks agressive. would be nice to see it from the side and back. the idea is promising, i look forward to see what happens with it.
