Bugatti Veyron 0-100-0 time (finally)

ohh pleaseeee someone :| :( scans

I bet the Ultima GTR guys are happy!
Still, very impressive time for such a heavy beast. The braking is maybe the most impressive, 3.4sec...if my physics aren't off, that's about 1.34 average G of braking over the 3.4sec, nice. So did they only test the 0-100-0, or what?? How about some handling tests hahaha. |
Well it was the "0-100-0mph contest", so I'm going to assume that's all that was tested :P

Uhm planes do not take off at a high rate of speed. (unless they want to put the Veyron up against a steam catapult launch on an aircraft carrier.. ;)) Once they leave the ground, jets scream into the sunset. Everytime I see a magazine put a car against a plain rolling on the ground I just want to slap the editor in the face. Next thing they will say x-car beats the Jumbo jet in 0-100-0... :P |

Just noticed something in the article 5.5 to 100 mph then 3.4 to 0 actually equals 8.9 secs.... either error when typed or they can't count.

the same thing that people wrote in the Ultima thread... there is a thing called creaction time, people... its not like some instantaneous beep goes off, then the guy is immediately off throttle, and on brakes... there is usually a spotter who says "100" or "brake" or something the Veyron is both Better then anybody possibly expected, and worse then what they know :? |

Or maybe there was just a 1 second period where the driver ensured they were at 100, then started braking *shrug* |

^^ probably added in total over the entire time of the test
|
i haven't ever conducted this test myself, but when you are accellerating that hard, you must know how crazy it is... 1 second is not a long time, and in just 5 seconds you are already going 100...
|
blows the mind away doesn't it?

Yea it should've but oh well, it doesn't really detract from the fact that it's mindboggling acceleration and deceleration.
|
That's a nice news but I will wait to see the magazine before commenting more : I wonder if they did take the acceleration time recorded some weeks ago and add it with the braking time or if they really test it like other cars :|
|
the only headache I get is the fuel consumption the Bugatti had when they pushed that throttle to get the times.... iik!

More cars from the same review

Would have been great to have been there to watch them test the cars! 8)
Thanks dude |
Whoa, the 100-0 is pretty darn good for a 2ton car ;)
|
Pretty amazing times, but 4.76 for the M6..I'm not sure about that one!

Here is the complete list of cars tested in Autocar 2006
http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/4...10000ze.th.jpg - Some intresting points I want to add. BMW M5 was one of the cars this year, Autocar also tested the M5 last year. (year 2005) - 14,16 sec (year 2006) - 15,20 sec Intresting to see that the M5 was one second faster 0-100-0 mph last year than this year. I wonder why - Also Alpina B6 better time than both M5 and M6 - 997TT is faster than Veyron 0-30 mph Result from year 2005 http://img168.imageshack.us/img168/8...0mph6ov.th.jpg |
Actually seems like many of the times are pretty poor compared to when the cars have been tested before.

I"ll have the magazine in hand later this week and if I can get in front of a scanner, I'll happily do the deed and post it here.

uhm...just_me im guessing there's a typo involved, cos ur post says:

No surprise really cause it has the strongest engine and the best brakes in the world  Did you know that it´s 100-0km/h distance is just 31,4 metres?
|
The excess time is indeed the reaction time - its roughly the same for all the cars. Will try and scan it in later ;)

OK......now I am confused because the magazine scan shows 5.5 to 100mph, a .2 sec reaction time and then 3.4sec to 0 mph.....that adds up to 9.1 seconds total unless I am blindly missing something!!?? |

Decent braking distance...although what I'd really like to see is what that braking distance is after say 5,6,,,10 successive stops...I bet those brakes would be cooked, 2 ton Veyron style! :P

VW/Audi ? What about Italdesign - chassis & body panels, AP Racing-brakes, Ricardo-gearbox and the frenchies that put it all together |
