Well, well, well.... so much for all the nay sayers -- hey? ;) :P

I will refrain posting "I told you so"....

And simply offer up a :fist: :P

Very impressive figures indeed. NS?

komotar 03-18-2006 01:18 PM

very impressove figures.

Now all the Vette has to get is a half decent interior and then if I'd have the funds, I'd defenetley buy it.

Ok seriously, it's a ridicolously fast machine and my hat goes off the the makers of the Z06.

I'm surprised at some of the times written in the first post. I know they're real, but I would never think a Gallardo would be faster than the F430 on track....well...4wd

or that the 996 turbo is that much slower than the gallardo....or the Ford GT time...man I thought the differences would be smaller, not to mention the zonda time, helooooooo, way slower than I expected

one more thing.... a GT3 RS with race tires, helooo is "just" as fast as the gallardo, yes I know HP difference and a couple more things, but still...the circumstances had to be VERY different for these times to make sense....

Ok, I'm OT here, so I guess what I wanted to say that I'm very impressed with the Z06, but I had a feeling the time would be fast.....

Thx for the data you have provided

yg60m 03-18-2006 01:32 PM

Impressive machine  Having seen one I can say it has presence !! BTW, no Nurburgring time ??

SFDMALEX 03-18-2006 05:27 PM

Too bad its still a Corvette.

hey it even rhimes

paradizzy 03-18-2006 05:54 PM

it's just amazing
I like this Corvette very much, since the day I saw the first photos.

nthfinity 03-19-2006 12:04 AM

the Ford GT's lap time there reflects poor gearing for track use; they stayed in 3rd gear the whole lap...

as for Z Z06....!

i love this car, and it would do nicely as a stable mate to my Jeep, and future FGT

How long did you have this post ready? ;)

Very nice to see it do so well on a proper benchmark test..

StanAE86 03-22-2006 12:51 PM

Given its company, it's an amazing car. What's the closest price competitor? GT3 at about $30k more...thats some serious underdog coming and raining on the parade. Does anyone know where the Japanese hi-po cars fall, timewise? Like the Skyline GTR?

That CGT doesn't F around does it?

dutchmasterflex 03-22-2006 01:10 PM

Yeah.. the CGT is the real thing.. with the Z06 nipping right at is toes.

I still have yet to see a C6 Z06 on the road!

Porsche 911 GT2 (480hp) ------------------------------ 1.11,6 min
Porsche 911 GT2 (462hp) ------------------------------ 1.12,6 min

1 sec faster than the old version, thats all

DodgeMan1969 11-01-2006 09:21 PM

good damn that thing is fast. Thanks for the tread. :D

5vz-fe 11-01-2006 09:26 PM

Dodge, as a fellow canadian, I'll try to be nice. Could you not bring up too much of the old threads? Thanks

obdr 11-01-2006 10:21 PM

and thats not even the most amazing thing about the new Z06. The amazing thing is this: I went to the local car supercenter where they have just about every car maker on earth all in one big place. First went to look at the porche Cayman S. For a well equiped model it can run you $70,000 plus after all was said and done. I talked to one of the dealers there and they had a guy come in and buy the most expensive (read:loaded) Cayman S possible with all options. Afer taxes, tags, doc fee's it was going for $80,000. Im sorry but thats WAY overpriced. The cayman should be cheaper then the boxster, not artificially inflated to fit into a model range price porsche wants.

Then I stroll over to the Chevy dealer. They have a loaded black c6 Z06. Price was $60,000 out the door. Thats the same price you would pay out the door for a nicely equiped E46 M-3. Heck, I;ve even seen fully loaded regular 3-series convertibles in the $50,000 range. Jeez, I was looking at 350z's and they had a loaded 350z roadster for $40,000 sticker.

So you see people, for the price of an M-3 you get a car that Sport-Auto, a highly respected tester, rates as faster then a Gallardo, Mercialago, F-430 and posts the same lap time as a GT3 RS on RACE TIRES which means on streat tires the GT#rs is SLOWER. (and the z06 is very nearly as fast as a Carrerra GT !!!) .

So in closing, you can rag on the cheap interior all you want. The simple fact is that the Z06 gives you supercar beating performance for the price of an M-3.

Nothing else in the entire WORLD even comes close. Not evne the might Evo can match the performance to dollar ratio of the Z06!!

Oh and one more thing: It was also tested as faster then the Zonda, a car that costs as much as most peoples houses........

obdr 11-01-2006 10:28 PM

The z06 is easily the best sports car for the money in the entire world. Every time I see it reviewed in a group test its being put up against cars that cost double or triple or even quadrouple what it costs.....and its STILL BEATING THEM in performance.

AND AND AND I can actually afford to buy one instead of just dreaming about one.

That critical fact makes it, to me, the best sports car in the world. Sure, there are some faster. Yeah, there are some with better interiors. Ok, there are many with better interiors. But there are NONE, ZERO, NADA that have that level of performance and that can also be afforded my a decent amount of people...............

Lets face it folks. Its damn easy to make a high performance car. Its damn easy to make a supercar these days. I mean, supercars are everywhere. But has anyone else in the history of car making given the buying public this much performance for so little $$$$. ? I'd honestly like to know.
