RIP My Old Car
The owner called me and told me he had an accident in my old car...at the latest drift event. He tinkered with the suspension and it was off. Apparently...waaaay off. It's totaled and is going to be parted out.
http://img322.imageshack.us/img322/4430/alex16mt.jpg http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/1581/alex29xy.jpg Read the whole history on my car: http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/D.../PROJECTX.html And please observe a moment of silence... |
man that sucks..... how long did he have it?
its said to see a semi-iconic car go to junk. :( |
RIP stans old AE86
i feel sorry for you... but... i haev to say that being i'm not really a drift fan; pitty it was taken to a drift event. it does look like she served you well when you had it. |
Sad to see it go. Glad to see you didnt own it when it got totalled.
BTW fantastic report here on your ride in a F1 GTR you lucky dog!!! http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/D...LarenRide.html   8) |
Maybe she rest in peace.
:( |
It's been sold for several years. It's been mostly in the same shape as when I sold it to him. He just recently started dicking with it. He went from the T04 I was running to a T03 ball bearing turbo. He put in a Supra transmission to hold up to the power and just put in an S13 rearend. He was shaking down the S13 rearend when he wrecked...
It was fun car... Yeah, that McLaren ride was probably the most incredible experience I've had so far. It's an incredible incredible car. |
That's too bad. I know how it feels except I crashed mine in my own hands :(.
Great car and super fun to drive too. I still remember when you originally put the turbo in that thing, so light, so much power :D. Oh wells, you got better horses in your stable now anyways :) . I don't understand why he didn't shake it down before the competition? |
:(
|
OMG .; such a shame . takumi will kill him if he saw this :d
Minute of silence respected here :( |
Hey stan, if you want another one, there's one not far from where i work for 2300 bucks.
|
Haha. No thanks. It's never the same.
|
Hey Stan. Their is a AE86 which my garage is working on right now for a customer and it has the same type of accident front left is totally bad.. Need a new fender, hood, radiator is damaged and the front frame is bent. The owner asked us to fix it. He did not want to total the car, he loves it so much... But I guess he did not see your car to really fall in love..
I'm very sorry to hear about your car. It really looked very good. Can you list the mods on the car and which engine the 16 valve or the 20 valve. |
It was the 16V motor, but the GZE supercharged block with a large port head. It was turboed.
I'm not sure what mods were done by the new owner, but when I sold it: 4A-GZE Block from AE101 Direct Fire Ignition ARP Headstuds ARP Connecting Rod Bolts T04 Turbo Turbonetics Deltagate Wastegate HKS Race BOV Port & Polished Head Tokico HTS Shocks FC3 RX-7 Fuel Injectors Lightened Flywheel Optima Dry Cell Battery Supra Front Mount Intercooler BattleVersion Custom Turbo Manifold BattleVersion Coilover Springs BattleVersion 4-Piston Big Brake Kit BattleVersion Negative Roll Center Adaptors BattleVersion Adjustable Panhard Rod BattleVersion Adjustable 4-Link Control Arms BattleVersion 4 Point Rollbar BattleVersion Tow Hook BattleVersion Adjustable Cam Gears K2RD Adjustable Camber Plates TRD Short Shifter Momo Bucket Seat 6-Point Sabelt Racing Harness Cusco Oil Catch Can Momo Monte Carlo Steering Wheel Dave Turner Motorsport Quick Release Steering Wheel Hub Supra Turbo Fuel Pump KAAZ 2-Way LSD Lexan Windows Fiberglass Hood Cusco Strut Tower Bar Push Button Start FC3 RX7 Front Mount Oil Cooler Autronic Stand-Along ECU GReddy PROfec Boost Controller Hayden Remote Oil Filter Kit Earl's Stainless Steel Brake Lines & Fittings Earl's Stainless Steel Oil Lines & Fittings Omori 10k Tach Omori Temp Gauge AutoMeter Oil Pressure Gauge AutoMeter Boost Gauge Apexi' Exhaust Gas Temp Gauge 15x8 Panasport Wheels 15x8 Wed Wheels Toyo Proxie RA1 DOT Competition Tires |
I see you forgot one critical mod that inevitably results in 50 hp:
Furry Dice... Oh well, you can put it in the Porker |
I agree with dani, It doesnt seem that the car is very damaged, specially it doesnt mean that the most relevant parts of the car such as the engine, transmission and specially the chassis doesnt seem very wrecked

Man.. It's a damn shame to see such a nice AE86 smashed up like that.
How much did you sell it for? I've been looking on and off for one in decent condition, but you can only find AE86's that are half dead or too expensive.. |
Well, when I sold it, there was a confidentiality agreement between myself and the buyer. It was a very hot car with about 240hp to the wheels at that time. It was well over the average AE86 that you see for sale...even the nice ones people have tricked out. Best of luck looking for your GTS, they're hard to find now, for a "fair" price. You have to try and find some older owner, and "create" a sale. Most of the ones on the market are from people exploiting the drifting craze and the cars are overpriced for what they are.
I first purchased the car in 1989 (well, my folks bought it for me) as my first car in High School. It was $6500 back then and had 65,000 miles on it. When I sold it, it had over 200k. :D |
Probably sold it for a pretty decent price.. 240 to the real wheels in that "tin can" that thing must of been a blast.. Thats awesome that you had that car so far back. It is really hard to find any GTS around now. I'll just keep my eyes open though. I have a big soft spot for toyota's, especially ones from the 80's :)
|
Yeah, it was a lot of fun. It was stripped won to 2,000lbs, so the power to weight was very good. One racing bucket, one passenger seat and a rollbar...
|
Sorry to hear that. RIP little 86
PS... where are the parts being sold? |
