I need Your Help, with M3 E30!

Hello guys, I come to you in a very urgent call...

A 87 BMW M3 (E30) has just appeared for sale here in brazil, at a very good price. I would like to know from u guys what should the Buyer (in this case, my father) be looking for when buying one of these cars???

The seller says the car has 76000km on the clock, and in the pictures the car seems to be in good order. We havn't had a chance to go visit it, yet, so all I have to judge the car on are the Pictures...

That is why I am askig for your help...Ideally i would take a mechanic to go visit it, but i do not know if it'll be possible..Are there any experts out there??

Thanks

As far as visual quality wise, it looks great, interior looks pretty damn flawless as well

I'd probably jump on this before anyone else did. How much does the owner want?

cooperluke 02-06-2006 02:46 PM

Just by curiosity, how much does it cost??

Mers 02-06-2006 03:41 PM

he's asking about 15K dollars

pretty good price...very cheap, because the car does not have this grand status here
I bet it's just another old car for them...

ARMAN 02-06-2006 04:17 PM

GOFORIT then!!! :P

Mers 02-06-2006 04:37 PM

we will

Mers 02-06-2006 08:29 PM

what's the stats on the E30? Hp, top speed, etc...??

EDIT: Never mind, i was just curious about Dani's claim that the car has 200+ Hp...well the one for sale is the base model, so it's 195 HP...But i still have to take a proper look...

Thanks for the link too

Now my biggest problem would be the mileage...it just seems too little, and might have been changed...but one hopes it hasn't been...

ARMAN 02-06-2006 09:04 PM

Get a BMW mechanic with you he will see if its matches or not.
You have a great chance to miss thisone thou, great deal never wait. If I would have money, needed a car I would be there yesterday already

antonioledesma 02-06-2006 09:36 PM

always check the carpets, the...rubber things around the doors, signs of repainting in the bonnet and hinges of the doors, state of the gearbox, the oil pan must not look smashed to pieces or too new. the steering wheel will have signs of use, but not abuse.
Try all the gears at different speeds, don't turn on the stereo on your test drives (used-car salesmen do this to hide any strange noises...like me )
76k kms for that year is great, but I would look carefuly at every detail

Mers 02-08-2006 03:45 PM

99% sure we are buying the car....it's got great history...and is completely original '87.....

score!

TransAm 02-08-2006 03:50 PM

Cool! Looks great in the (albeit small) pics!

stradale 02-08-2006 04:46 PM

Whoa! That would be an amazing car to buy. From what I can tell from these small pictures, the car looks to be in excellent condition and very original at that. Good luck getting the car and when you do, post some high-res pics, please.

sikx5 02-08-2006 09:14 PM

Very nice find mate, and that price is just great. This car is around $25-40,000AU here and quite rare also, good examples cost more than the e36 M3 here, hope it all works out for you mate 8)

Humm.. noticed now, you're 16! You can drive a car in Brazil with 16 years old?

Be careful... it's very funny car, but can also be very dangerous. Don't try to squeese all of him in the first rides! :D

Price on these have bottomed out and will probably continued to rise. Right now, that car in the US could definitely fetch more than $15k. Sometimes I see double that mileage for around the same price.

Bring it in to a BMW Dealer or a good independent shop and have them do a Pre Buyer Inspection. That should cover a lot of the trouble areas.
