Fancy Parking

http://fancyparking.com/index.html

bah, I park fancy almost everyday!

Ghostbat 01-09-2006 07:49 PM

Never understood why one should bother doing that.

crayzayjay 01-09-2006 08:53 PM

Im quite prone to fancy parking :D

TransAm 01-09-2006 09:23 PM

I'm a conventional parker and it often worries my ass-end

It's just much easier to exit the parking space when you're parked that way. On days when there are a ton of cars driving through the parking lot, it also makes it much easier to see them coming, so you don't end up reversing into them. It's especially useful for visibility when you've got a small car (such as a Celica), and you're parked in between mini-vans or SUVs.

I don't always bother to "fancy" park, but I do enjoy the benefits when I take the time.

Think it counts when you just drive through to the other side of the parking line (to the next row), so you effectively fancy park but without reversing?

I always reverse park unless there's a line of cars behind me in a small parking lot. I really don't see a problem with that unless u are holding other ppl's time.

ARMAN 01-10-2006 04:15 PM

 what a waist of time making this page  I park the way it is better to get out then, never thought there are some perverse people watching me how i park.

Skaala 01-10-2006 05:50 PM

what the hell?... This is how I park everyday, everytime, and everyone should. No matter how long time I use, I always reverse park. When you arrive at a parking you have complete overview. When you are backing out you are more likely to run over a kid or something.

Banchi105 01-10-2006 06:19 PM

Its illegal to 'fancy' park at my university. The rent-a-cops go so far as to ticket you for every hour your car is parked in an illegal way.

that has to be the stupidest shit i've ever heard
thank god my university doesn't do that. i think mine is more concerned with academics and other important things to worry about parking methods.

TransAm 01-10-2006 06:30 PM

Yeah well on some UK campuses it is forbidden to bring a car, let alone park it there!

I think Manchester (the proper Uni, not the Poly  ) falls into this category, or it did when my mate went (93-96)

In the state im in as im sure for others its illegal. But its because they do not have front plates in Indiana.

Also for pick-up trucks it is easier to park fancy once you are good at it.

dutchmasterflex 01-10-2006 11:29 PM

This is one of the reasons why I hate the internet.. who makes up this bullshit?

ZfrkS62 01-10-2006 11:38 PM

 Somehow I always tend to do the "was that a space" fancy park

However it is illegal some places here...in the city, where the spaces are angled at 60 degrees

RC45 01-11-2006 02:50 AM

"Fancy" parking assumes you have nothing to put in the boot/trunk.... ;)

It is an annoying waste of time when some one in front of you insists on backing into their space.

BTW - any one have that link to the Japanese guy evading the cop by doing a 35mph hand brake fancy parkign turn into a parking space as the cop drives past?

This whole topic should be renamed Smart parking, not fancy parking. It makes it sound stupid and pointless. :|
