Yes, better than MB but not BMW. However you pay for this, as Civics are damn expensive, I would personally go with an M5 or SLR - maybe not as good but alot cheaper. :wink:

But what are we talking about? Pure engine performance? How could a Civic be better as a whole car than a BMW or Merc?
A VTEC Civic could probably be faster in some situations than a 316 3-series, but well, not "better"

This whole question remains BS as the question simply sucks. Cars can't be compared new.

A Civic is not a bad buy, but offers different qualities than a BMW or Benz.

the civic's Vtec engines are awsome ... but the techjnology is kinda old .. soo i guess new bmw and merc engines are better ... :roll:

vtec technologu kinda old ???? you are joking they kept improving vtec over the years now they had the vtc to vtec and other stuff yes the vanos from bmw is great but it is not the same you don't feel the power like in a civic crx vtec yes it is not the same bmws are comfortable classic great cars with value and tt when you say that a civic vtec could be faster than a 316 bmw you smoke blunt i was talking about the civic vtec with 150 bhp i think even a 320 i bmw would be eaten by the MIGHTY VVTTEECC :fist:

We are going nowhere.. the original question as pointed out makes no sense.. is the VTEC an excellent car better than BMW of Mercedes... an engine with VTEC technology can boost some interesting hp/liter, no doubt about it, and it's installed in light, nimble cars, ence pretty good performance, but let's stop here this useless bullshit about killing an M3 with a Civic and so on... might be faster, but I wouldn't say "better".
And BTW, we all know the best hot hatch of the moment is the Clio :roll:

For a higher price I might add. Better built quality is relative as well. Newer Mercedes' suffer from lacking fit and finish.

Honda most definately is more reliable, numerous reports have shown that.

However, it's comparing apples and oranges.

For the money, investing in a Honda is the best financial decision since they hold value better than the other two. If you want to be logicial the Honda is the best bet since it's the most simple of the choices, and simplicity means less is going to go wrong. If anyone is smart, you'de buy a cheap civic and use the rest of the money to save up for a sports car. But for the sake of having the best of everything, i'de take an Audi over them all :twisted: !!!

I think is not an excellent car but however is a great car, is not the best technology but works, but, the front wheel drive vs. the real wheel drive make a big difference, if you don't take care about.......

front wheel drive is crapola! hence CIVIC sux. Cant compare to a rwd car.

firstly I used to hate Honda's because of all the ricers in the world but after working for Acura I have given them a chance and they are great in their own right I see cars every day with 200-300K miles on them that run like the day it was made. Honda is a quality product and aren't exactly compareable to BMW or Mercedes but for the price you can't beat it and the average driver never really can tell the difference between the FWD and RWD cars but atleast in our RL's you can kick the ass end out with ease when ALL aids are turned off.
