Anyone Getting Xbox360 Today?

my friend is picking it up, I don't see the point and buying it @ this price, I am going to wait till after x-mass and prob till next year around this time (Halo 3 :P)

but anyways off to play it for 10hours or so :D NHL 2k6 time!!

vexor 11-22-2005 05:38 PM

I'm still waiting for the delivery truck to come by my house :(

Minacious 11-22-2005 05:40 PM

Nope. There really is no reason to jump on it right now. None of the must-have or kind-of-want-to-have titles are out yet. Many of them won't be coming out until the PS3's release to combat those sales. I can wait. I am looking more towards the PS3's release anyway.

Anonymous 11-22-2005 05:45 PM

Nah PS3 will just come out and blitz it for everything. Dunno if my bro will get one just because he has a hi def tele or not, here it comes out 2nd december and most places are sold out AFAIK. Anyway I'll wait for the PS3 but if it breaks after 18 months like my PS2 it will be the last sony product i buy probably :bah: After having been loyal to them since the days of tape walkmans!

gigdy 11-22-2005 05:56 PM

couple of my friends got some. But they are thinking of selling it on e-bay and getting another one later. If your wondering why just check e-bay.

What a load of crap... even at $1000 or $2000 explain why ANYONE with the money would pay that?

Not to mention $10,000 or $20,000 or $100,000.

eBay will shut that shit down in a day or 2 - note all the shill bids going on...

Let's see here - XBox360 or used Porsche GT3?

XBox360 or used Porsche GT3?
XBox360 or used Porsche GT3?

Uhm - XBox it is... ;)

I think the ones that are like $800-1000 are more than likely the real ones. I'm pretty sure all the 2K+ auctions are the seller with 40+ accounts bumping up his own bids.

yeah the 2000+ are for deperte people... i still think the max price will be something like that, not more...
there were bundles going at a retail price of 899... so paying 1500 for those isn't too crazy

Chaos in 1983! 11-23-2005 02:16 AM

OMG...how the HELL can you even consider spending 2000+ on a gaming console!...and seeing 5K 7K 10K prices is just ridiculus...talk about hype.

Actually that's the point - it's a game console - at $900 for a retail bundle it is stupidly over priced.

$800 is a $50,000 car payment - its a $100,000 house mortagage payment - it's a complete A/C replacment and transmission service on a used car - etc etc etc

All these 7-hour camp outs are just the credit card generation suckers.

Microshaft is hoping to ship a million $400 units in the first quarter or something stupid...

Pulease... XM satellite radio (which is WAY more useful than an XBox360) didn't grow at that pace.

I am almost sure people felt obligated to "me too - lemme have one" and that's why they lined up for hours to buy one.

The joke is on them when the system gets discounted, goes on sale and used refurbs show up for half the price.

There is silly impulse buying - then there is stupidity... $400 on an XBox 360 is borderline stupidity...;)

which isnt too far from happening, i give it a year (max) before prices go down...
i would pay the 400 for the bundle with hard drive and stuff and no games, what i dont like is that the only thing they were offering were packs with lots of games for 600 + and on up to 1200 or something like that... there isnt one game worth buying right now, so whats the point of making overnight lines or paying such prices...
as you say its just the hype
Im waiting to see the price in mexico, my estimate is at least 1000 just for the console, which is produced in mexico...

forget about xbox on ebay, look @ this guy trying sell a ipod nano
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll..._BIN_Stores_IT
my god that is cheap.

anyway xbox was good, but not as good as I thought (i did only play NHL 2K6) but there are more games out there and the new call of duty looks amazing so gotta try that one soon.

ae86_16v 11-23-2005 06:34 AM

Ehh, I heard people around here been lining up since Sunday. I am cool. . . I'll wait for a while. Probably end up waiting for the Playstation 3.

gis 11-23-2005 07:10 AM

Ive got an order on one for 2nd december.but i think if it doesnt arrive for release day ill cancel my order and wait till they come cheaper or for the PS3,and if it does arrive on release and im not that keen on it im sure it wont be any trouble selling it and getting back the money i paid for it. :D

its the video/computer generation guys.

get used to it.

its the same thing as buying the newest and hottest video card on the market only to have it go half in price when the next comes out.

and what is that...

3 months?

No - it's not the same as buying a video card... a video card contributes to the entire system functionality.
The XBox is USELESS without decent game titles.. and even then the real value of $5,000 worth of game console, accesories and games is rather pointless.

Use the $5,000 and get out and have some REAL WORLD fun... ;)
An XBox is just a game console plugged into the telly.. that's it.

Apac102 11-23-2005 12:25 PM

Just wait. I learned the hard way by running out and buying an Ipod last year. Now this year it has a video with an extra 10GB of hard drive for the same price. Shows you just how fast technology is going. I wonder what the next console is going to be like?

the same can be said about gaming computers rc.

there's no argument. i was just stating that... for some ppl... this is what they want to spend their money on.

i'm with everybody else here where i'm gonna wait about half a year for the ps3 just because it'll drop 100$ and that'll net me almost two new games.

though... your right about getting out there and enjoying the outside.

nothing like buying a new part for the bike and going out to break it in.

Sorry but by the time the next gen card comes out, which is not 3 months, more like a year, you wont be able to max new games on the previous gen card.

The reason why it goes down in price because it doesnt perform as well as it did 1 year ago because the games have higher demand now.

So this is tottaly different from the console argument.

You buy the console once and it lasts you 5 years.

Anyway I'm waiting till this thing gets the full crack treatment, there is no way I'm paying 70$ for games that I will play a max of 10 hours because of a boring cold winter day.

RC45 11-23-2005 08:30 PM

I would not have done the console scene if it wasn't for Gamestop etc.

Used PS2 and XBox games for $10. ;)

I bought the PS2 and XBox as used refurdbs... - the only new console games I ever bought were GT3 and GT4 for the PS2 and Forza for the XBox - every other title was used.

:)

Microsoft Reports Isolated Xbox Glitches

Wed Nov 23, 9:39 PM ET

Microsoft Corp. said Wednesday it had received isolated reports of technical problems with its popular new Xbox 360 videogame system.

Some owners complained that their systems were crashing during game play, sometimes with error messages popping up. On http://www.xbox-scene.com, a site dedicated to Xbox gaming, a member called jsgongwon reported that he could not finish the first lap of "Project Gotham Racing 3."

"It's a few reports of consoles here and there not working properly," said Molly O'Donnell, a spokeswoman for Microsoft's Xbox division. "It's what you would expect with a consumer electronics instrument of this complexity .... par for the course."

Gaming fanatics lined up for hours Monday to be among the first to purchase the next-generation system, which was in short supply despite its starting price tag of $299.99. Microsoft hopes to sell 2.5 million to 3 million of the new systems in the first 90 days.

O'Donnell urged anyone with Xbox problems to call 1-800-4myXbox or go to http://www.xbox.com. If the problems can't be resolved immediately, Microsoft said it will pay to ship the console overnight to a repair center, overnight it back once it's fixed, or ship a replacement.

yep, got my xbox yesterday, picked up pgr3 and call of duty 2...nothing really special about the games...unitl you play it on hd quality...dam its nice!!! other than that, nothin really special, just that you can turn off yur xbox via controller, controllers are wireless, you can also hook up yur ipod to it and play yur playlists while you play a game...i had some problems with my 360, where it wouldn't startup at all...but problem somehow resolved by puttin the console horizontal instead of vert...down the road though, i'm definitely getting myself a nintendo revolution...did you see the controller, damn!!!

5vz-fe 11-25-2005 02:14 AM

It is very brave for him to state that phrase!!

So there you have it... the great advantage of going console was that they were always rock solid and bug free...

This new console seems abotu as much trouble and finicky as a high end PC...
Console 0 - PC 1

5vz-fe 11-25-2005 02:43 AM

Well, that's what the harddrive is for......patches LOL!

RC45 11-25-2005 03:40 PM

I am hoping Sony don't lose sight of the value of a bug free console, and don't count on the consloe having internet access for patching and that they make the PS3 worthy of being a PS2 successor.

So far I have no reason to bother with the XBox360.

exhausted mules 11-25-2005 06:43 PM

sony wouldn't be able to afford a huge recall or anything seriously wrong with their systems.

try taking care of a million pissed off japanese.

they are actually USED to reliability!

having nintendo sticking with just a few developers and mostly staying in the shadows with the older audience.

sony and microsoft are head to head with the adult titles and the big guys in the industry.

so rushing into the battle with faulty systems and a low release title coun't is....

shall we say...

too, microsoft like?

dumb.

5vz-fe 11-25-2005 07:42 PM

Getting Paris Hilton as part of the advertising campaign sure said something about the product.....not about the looks, not about inner qualities.....LOL!!

read the link you sent gray.

its not a recall.

it isn't even a faulty part like what mostly is in the xbox (widespread overheating and freezing up of unit)

most likely its just misuse of discs and improper care of the unit.

not an issue that surfaced days after its release.

But currently you cant maximize a high end video card. Maybe when Vista comes out then a high end video card is a must. Right now these high end cars are suitable for high res displays, games and 3D modeling.

Here's the rub though as 90% of all activity on a computer happens on the desktop.

evoWalo 11-26-2005 04:53 AM

I've been reading the news concerning the problems being encountered by owners and I am amazed that Microsoft allowed this out the door. The thing crashes and MS knew about it before the release date. It's external powersupply screws up the Xbox 360 as it has a tendency to overheat. And the games... This is one example where being first isnt always a good thing. I feel sorry for frustrated owners. I'd probably pick one up once HD-DVD is part of the 360. Maybe by that time all the kinks are worked out and games like Halo 3 will be out the door.

Funny that the most profitable company among the three is Nintendo. They dont loose money selling their Gamecube though profits are naturally down.
