My ride in an F50! (pics/vids)
 

Oh what a day I had!!!!!!!!! :shock:

The Ferrari Club of Australia is having its annual National Rally and this year it is in Perth.

One of the cars which turned up from Melbourne was a yellow F50 - and at the end of the day I was taken for a ride in it! :D

The owner is a really nice and generous guy, spending alot of time during the day telling me about the car. I got to look at all the accessories, like the driving boots, photos and manuals etc.

I was happy enough to just sit in it, but later he said he'd take me for a spin. :shock:

It lasted for about 10-15 mins, with a couple of hard accelerations. We were on fairly busy public roads so no crazy stuff - but more than enough to put a huge smile on my face.

The noise is just insane, at idle/low revs its all cam noise - but above 4000rpm you get that F1 shriek. :love:

I've been lucky enough to ride in some awesome cars so far - but this one tops the list. I've always admired the F50 so today will be special for me for a long time. :D

Straight after the ride in the F50 I drove home in the WRX - didn't feel as special as it did before the F50 experience. :bah:

No, the current owner has had this one for a few months now. It was bought from MM in Melbourne though. :wink:

thats amazing!! I remember the first time i rode in an F50 we were just cruising then the second ride i got in an F50 was a complete different experience. Your lucky though id kill to ride in a yellow F50 :D

Yeah they are rare, only 31 were produced in yellow - and this is the only such one in Australia (the rest here are all red). :wink:

Concerning your feeling when driving back with your Sub', I can understand it since I had the same when I took my Speedster back after drinving a Murcielago and a Gallardo ... :shock: just like your car is not accelerating at all !! :?

I envy you soo much but at the same time I'm happy for you!

The engine sounds so brutal and unforgiving.

The colour is ust to die for. I remember reading the EVO article (288GTO, F40, F50, Enzo) and if I remember correctly they said that the F50 is far more brutal than the other three. The hardest to drive, but at the same time, the most rewarding if you know how to get the max out of the car.

dingo thanks for the videos i just downloded them now :D As for your next ride ive never riden in a 288 GTO or F40 (soon to come) but the Enzos i have riden in was just a mind blowing expierience. we were cruising in 5th gear when we got a nice open straight, he dropped it into 4th and hammered it. we got up to 140MPH it felt like in seconds and the Enzo its soo stable at that speed. The F50 ride i got was by far one of the best Ferrari rides ive ever gotten. I cant wait to see pics!!!

These were taken with a digital video camera, but I reduced the qaulity to keep the file size down. :wink:

Great pictures dingo; I've never even sat in an F50, let alone get a ride. That car definitely looks best in yellow, and that's the first one I've seen that didn't have the headlamp area blacked out. :good:
