The time has come
We are selling the M3 fairly soon and we are starting to look at new options. Trying to get my dad into a murcielago lol. I told him to go mental and get whatever he wants. Is the new M3 out in the new year??
We will probably sell before that comes out. What other options are there for about £120k max?? Preferably something fairly new. |
weeeee, i would go for that new marcos it cost like M3 maybe little more but got more power
|
From an M3 to a 120KGBP car?
|
Assuming that would be around $67K US, i would say either an S4 or a C55 if your going for a sports sedan, a LS430, a A6 or a CLS500 if you want a lux. sedan, and a Boxter S if you want a sports car.
|
er 120k pounds is just a tad over 67k $...more like 200k $ i think...i dunno what level of practicality etc u want? u could go for a porsche, or a TVR??or...man there are so many nice cars out there, just make sure its a good one :D
[EDIT]Dani's choice seems a very nice one :D definately recommendable |

For up to 120k you're looking at: --- New --- Aston Martin DB9 / Volante Bentley Continental GT Ferrari F430 Merc SL / CL 55 AMG / 600 Lamborghini Gallardo Porsche 996 GT2 --- Used --- Aston Martin Vanquish Merc SL / CL 65 AMG Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale Ferrari 575 M Lamborghini Murcielago (?) My choice... something with a RUF badge ;) |

F430 or a DB9 then. Or an M5 if he's the practical type. Personally, I would go get two cars for 120k. An AM Vantage and a LR Disco 3. or... If you're dad's patient. Wait for the V12 Quattroporte with the new autobox. |
It' difficult to say as you haven't specifies what kind of car you are looking for. As already said you couldn't go wrong with an F430, or even better a DB9, it's quite significantly cheaper and will leave you more money to spice it up with equipment.
|
Save yourself a bit of cash and get an AMV8; or you could get one of them and a track car such as a caterham/atom etc.
If not, go mad and get a murci with a tubi or similar ;) |
I always find it suprising that someone looking at a car in this price range needs to ask (or get his son) at an online forum what car they should get......but thats just me. :)

Cayenne Turbo and you will have money for options

Yeah?? We have had the M3 for 2 years. Business has been sold and new one bought. Quote:
Anything really, thats the reason I didn't specify. |
sorry about the conversion issue earlier, i don't know what i was thinking. as for the car, i would say go for a F430 if you want a exotic, a S65 if you want a sports sedan, or a Bentley Flying Spur if you want luxury.
personally... i would go for a Range Rover and a 911 Turbo. |

Don't worry dude. He likes the idea of an F430 cos of the cruising and racing sides of it. |
then i say go for it... just make sure to provide plenty of pics when/if he gets it. I'd love to see whatever it is he decides on
|
go for 430 or 360 cs
they are both great cars... cs is more exclusive.. but the waiting list for a 430 should be pretty long |

Get into a 512M for a while, then turn it over for a 550 maybe, spend a little while in a Diablo GT, swap that for 360CS and then maybe an SLR to close out the 3 year stint. :P This way he doesn't blow his whole wad prematurely - and gets to try a couple hot chicks before finally settling on something special down the road. ;) Unless of course he gets his rocks off on impressing the neighbours with the latest and greatest :P The question is - is he into swapping cars to prove he has arrived, or to quecnh his automotive thirst? :) |

I would suggest a F430, but they command a slight premium at the moment. Then a DB9 - a beautiful car, and a British one 8) Still quite difficult to come by, but the usual specialists have a many nearly new cars that have barely been run in. A 911 GT2, or a GT3 RS, would be fun, and a serious too for the track to, if your dad is into that kind of stuff. Whatever you decide, keep us updated :D One last suggestion - get him an M5, and get him to buy you a nice flash new car :P [/quote] |
AMV8 Vantage would be my choice. It's definitely on the "cheap" end of the scale that's been suggested, the performance is certainly not poor, and the noise is good too. It's got a reasonably large trunk and should be comfortable for two people, both on the road, and on the track. I know RC45 is probably going to suggest the Vette, and it's certainly more than a match for the AMV8 in terms of outright pace, but it doesn't have quite the same panache nor quality of materials in the interior. The Porsche 997 (S) would be a lot of fun, as would the 996 Turbo, but ever since the Cayenne came out, I haven't had much interest in Porsche, I think they kind of fucked up by making an SUV. The M5 is definitely the choice as far as practicality and speed is concerned, but the Ferrari F430 just barely fits in at the top of that price range, and it's a hell of a car, though I'd certainly get it with a real transmission instead of the F1 gearchange. Anyway, that's my two cents (and then some). Have fun figuring out what you're getting!

One idea to help your dad decide what he wants, would be to perhaps join one of the supercar clubs like Damon Hill's less worries for the car and he can sample a variety of current supercars. Certainly impress the neighbours :P , hell if i could spare that kind of cash it would suit me :-) I mean here how often do you get a really nice day to enjoy it?. Only problem is i guess you can't use it on track :-( damons club http://www.p1international.com/index.htm |

Nothing specific, hes open to any sort of car really. A Zonda would be nice lol but I don't see that happening!! My dad spoke to the BMW dealer and they said the new M3 is out late 2006/early 2007. |

i am ferrari freak and i love bmws also but elise is my dream car. i always want a elise after i saw it. if i won't have a ferrari in my life i won't be upset because it is too expensive and limited produced car but elise is cheapest super car of 90's. i am saving money to buy a elise. maybe i can buy '00 or older ten years later.i always wished one thing from god : to be a elise owner.

the E46 M3 ended with the 2005 model. 07 is the next M3 afaik.

That's weird, because some guy on the M3 forum just stated that he ordered one and it is MY2006 and it's a E46. |
