who's beaten the game

finnaly mission of SLR on the ring was complete - 100%

RC45 05-18-2005 09:37 PM

I gave up on the missions a while back - as soon as my MiniMe did all the enduros and I was able to get the cars I wanted (all ;)) - and simply use it for "fun drives".

Max Power 05-18-2005 09:48 PM

the stupidst (if that's a word) is that u'd have to wait for 2 min everytime u started that mission...pissed the hell out of me

Exactly - I tried it a couple times then got bored... you have way more patience than I... hehe

jon_s 05-21-2005 06:28 PM

Man, that mission gets on my tits! I only manage to get in striking distance of the SL500!

Max Power 05-21-2005 09:15 PM

well what are your split times....
1st - 1:48.5
2nd - 1:39
3rd - 1:29
4th - 1:15
5th - 1:04
I forget after that...u should pass the sl65 before the 1sr carrusel, the sl500, some where before u go into the turn which dips and right, than the sedan right after the 2 carussel, and blow by the rest on the straights
your last sector should be under 14 s....my time was 9:11.7
...its pretty easy after a while, but the waiting was killer

Minacious 05-21-2005 10:06 PM

Unfortunately (since I was really looking forward to its release), I lost all desire to complete such a flawed game.

sheruken 05-31-2005 06:58 AM

^^^LOL^^^

So basically we all are dick-heads arent we? That we played "such a flawed game" over and over again... (well the game has its flaws, but its highly unlikely u "lost all desires" to complete the game coz it was flawed, I think you gave up, because you didnt have the BALLS! to complete... :P (no offence meant, but its just that if you cant complete a game, dont blame the game for its flaws, even the mighty GTR *according to me, the best racing sim yet* has its flaws, that doesnt make it any less desireable.)

Anyway coming back to the topic, yeah the M34 was just a killer, the 2 min wait was the worst time i've wasted in life doing nothing. BUT Finally a day came when I passed that notorious 300 SLR just after the final right corner.. Dayem, I could hear heaven bells ringing, but I didnt die ;)

100% complete..

Incorrect. I more than likely could beat the game just like I did the previous 3 if I only played the damn game. I don't. The game isn't hard at all. Sure some of the missions take a bit of work, but they aren't hard.
I am a huge racing simulation fan (I use that term loosely for this game) and prefer a game where the proper suspension, racing line, etc are what wins the race as opposed to the more arcadey likes of NFSU. Don't assume because I have no desire to play the game means that I don't have the "BALLS" to complete the game. I am a fan of the series. I simply didn't have fun playing this version of the game. You liked it, I didn't.

5vz-fe 05-31-2005 12:58 PM

Altho I lost the desire to beat the game, I played it everyday in arcade mode at the ring using different cars.

100% complete..

I completed enough events to open all the races - and used cheat to get all the cars - and now use it for hotlapping with certain cars on certain track.

Other than that it's pretty lame - especially considering the lead time and effort put into the game.

I mean - they go and survey the tracks to 30mm accuracy, but somehow forget to complete the AI for all the cars on all the tracks.

The spend all the time 3D modelling cars and producing photorealistic graphics and photomode, then somehow forget to have replay forward reverse controls in the replay mode.

It is an unpolished cash-cow title.

Aaah, Sweetness! Manna to the Israelite :)

I'll be back in Houston on June 10-12 or so. I will try to get the manna copied over from you then.

5vz-fe 05-31-2005 09:08 PM

Did I mention the game has all 700+ plus cars unlocked and owned in the garage? :)

And the 4 black cars - and the elusive solid colour Ford GT's - oh, and the black GTP cars are all zero mile new cars.

The only car I am missing that is of note is the black Formula 1 - but you can race that in arcade if you really have to.

Just one of the quirks that prove they over promised and under delivered on GT4.

sheruken 06-01-2005 07:43 AM

Yes Minacious, I agree. Choice and FreeWill, is what makes Mankind Grow. We have the freedom of choice so I might like something which you may not. But that doesnt mean you dont appreciate good things. I agree GT4 had been in development for a few years and the AI is just horrible, but thats where the Missions come into picture. If you think AI is totally unchallenging, then for the "challenge factor" the missions are just in a different level. If you have lost the desire of completeing mission, then thats why I said ^^^ well what I said. And I didnt mean to be offensive about it, allthough I apologies for that. Its just I have seen many people stop playing the game just coz they couldnt complete the missions. Which I took it as a challenge and completed myself. As far as simulation goes for this game, it does have enough simulation for an Auto Enthusiast to enjoy. But as a Racing Simulation fan, trust me, I've played many PC Racing Simulations and except for a very few (like GTR) they just feel like driving on Ice rather than on Tarmac, which GT4 delivers perfectly. Yes it is much more forgiving than other Sims, but its not as unrealistic as "just a dab of throttle on a reasonably fast AWD car and the car spins". I've spent on many track day events in my life and have spun overr like crazy and trust me whenever in GT4 I spun it was exactly the same mistake I did in the real, allthough that doesnt mean anything, its just my experience, am not trying to prove anything here.
Allthough the suspension and other setup according to me has been quite well programmed in GT4.
Besides that I agree, that the other racing events with AI cars are just a bunch of overrated, compulsory piece of repeatative crap, but it can be FUN :) ..
Just my opinion..

I could'nt agree more, If I don't make it, and then have to wait over and over again, I just get sad..... and almosts starts to cry  :D

Minacious 06-01-2005 12:11 PM

No worries, sheruken. The AI in the game is where my real problem stems. Just look at the quote in RC's sig and you will see where I'm coming from. There was absolutely no excuse for having the same tired ass AI that was in GT3. It pisses me off more in 4 because we kept reading about how great and much improved the AI was going to be, and what did we get? The same damn AI from the previous game. It's like going out with a girl with spectacular breast, getting her home and finding out she stuffs her bra. If PD is going to call their game "The Ultimate Driving Simulator", damnit, give me "The Ultimate Driving Simulator" and stop blowing smoke up my ass with all these promises of greatness. I demoted GT4 to the status of hot-lap racer. Taking a well setup car on the Ring and trying to beat my best time is still fun.

Hehe, Funny, yet precise!! :D
I cant dissagree to what you said. Sorry to have jumped to conclusion before, the AI is indeed pathetic.

5vz-fe 06-01-2005 04:46 PM

I have a request actually....

For ppl who claim to finish the game 100%, can we have a screenshot please ??

Max Power 06-01-2005 06:02 PM

ViperASR 06-01-2005 07:50 PM

wow, thats impressive. 202 cars total, with an 81.9% win ratio. I must congratulate u my friend on a well done job with that.

5vz-fe 06-01-2005 08:52 PM

Max Power, thanks very much for that screen shot, very much appreciated =)

btw, the mileage for B-Spec >> A-Spec

RC45 06-01-2005 09:43 PM

WHOA---- You are one race from armageddon!!!! Don't dare start race 666 :P

Max Power 06-02-2005 12:15 AM

well all the endurance races were shit.....u'd smoke all the cars by the 1st lap and then have a race against yourself trying to beat your best time....so endurance races = B spec
