Gumball 3000 and Jabba

I was just thinking... how come we havent seen or heard anything about Jabba trying to get into, or participating in the Gumball... From what I hear he definitely has the vehicles necessary to join, and with all those toys im guessing that he can afford it. Why arent u a gumballer jabba?

gis 10-28-2003 10:15 PM

im thinkin this is another one of those questions jabba has been asked a million times.LOL.

he told everyone last time if i remember that he doesnt have the time at the moment. :D

blah 10-28-2003 11:25 PM

Jabba should get a Ford GT, and then Gumball, and we could be his pit crew, following him around in bad ass Mustangs, and F-150s with parts, and gas and hookers.

stracing 10-29-2003 12:22 AM

as if he'll want to participate in a ford...well at least i wouldn't if i lived in england.
in a continent where ferraris, lamborghinis, porsches, merc, bimmers and other exotics are born. you wouldn't need to look elsewhere.

DR.GONZO 10-29-2003 12:36 AM

that would be sweet, but gumballers are crazy mass tickets a lot oflaw shit happens yea a lot of time too.

the Ford GT will kick a lambos/.ferraris/posches/merc/Bimmers/TVRs ass, even in cornering. Any car born out of Spite is gonna be bad ass.

interceptor_01 10-29-2003 02:40 AM

hey, there's nothing wrong with the ford and i cant wait to see a GT version as it will KILL all the 360 Challenge cars!!!

USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA

cho_888 10-29-2003 02:45 AM

who cares what cars preform like and what they handle like cause we can always go back to the fact that is only a FORD and will never have a name like Ferrari. i would rather drive a slow ferrari than a fast ford.

interceptor_01 10-29-2003 03:05 AM

ford never meant to be a producer of fast race cars, they produced family cars and cars for everyday use. ferrari was made to produce sports cars, ford can beat them at their own game, lets see ferrari produce a family car for the masses, oh wait their precious reputation and name are at stake.

cho_888 10-29-2003 03:24 AM

thats absolutly coreect the name, what else do most people look for in a car?

cha ching

crazidude 10-29-2003 03:32 AM

i would personally prefer jabba to get a zonda :D

jon_s 10-29-2003 09:21 AM

I dont think that there are any doubts about the Ford GT. It is a stunning car- pure and simple- it is also superb value for money! Along with the Saleen S7 these are two cars that are produced by the US that IMO are worthy of supercar status in every respcet. I don't want to go down the USvEro car argument, cos IMO that is what killed RF for me. Also, before I get vette fans on me, yes I do respect them, always have and always will. In fact, I saw one on the M25 (a rare sight in the UK), I gave the driver a thumbs up as he passed, and he put his foot down....the sound was something else.

Anyway, back to the topic, without trying to speak for him, but I believe that time as gis has already said is a major factor. Believe it or not, the money he has did not just arrve in the post lol, he has to work for it. Having said that, Jabba, if you do ever do the Gumball....you know who to call!! 8) 8) 8)

Yes that is pretty much spot on and kinda the answer I was about to give....I am only able to spend as much time on JW as I do because I am lucky enough to work in a multi tasking office enviroment....for me to even have a week away is pretty much unthinkable right now...

Maybe we could have a hardcore race around the M25 one night (there is an offical record for this I understand) maybe starting at 3 am or something...or even our own 24 hour event of 5 laps around it or something... LMAO.... :D

gis 10-29-2003 10:26 AM

LMAO,that be actually pretty fun jabba,the M25 24 hour

we should organize that :D

fedezyl 10-29-2003 10:31 AM

Hey I wouldn't mind flying to the old continent and racing a rental car over there!!

LOL, if I ever move there count me in though!

Jabba 10-29-2003 10:31 AM

I have been over 170 MPH through some sections and others I wouldnt want to go much more than 7 MPH....(the road surface being so crap)

TT 10-29-2003 10:34 AM

JW's official meeting, the M25 24h :D sound cool! I wonder how many of us will return to their country with their car and their driving license :D

gis 10-29-2003 10:36 AM

well i sure as hell would get stopped, unless jabba wants to drag me along at the back of the diablo, just use a nice strong rope and ill be fine, ill be the fastest un-modded saxo ever, lol

Jabba 10-29-2003 10:38 AM

I find a 3-4 hour race more appealing somehow...a) your not going to end up with a car like the F50 in gumball 3000 stone chipped to hell and generaly fucked and a pile of shit after the race......b) my cars often break down (in the spirit of Italian supercars) so its always nice to be quite near home c ) pure driving experience with none of that other fucking around...(bandits, mafia, corrupt police officers and drunken fools etc)

Maybe we could have a handicap system where youre given a headstart gis...I will have to give it ago sometime to see roughly how many hours I could do a whole lap in....

fedezyl 10-29-2003 10:48 AM

is there any gatsos in the M25?

TT 10-29-2003 10:49 AM

How long is the whole lap BTW? Because the M25 is famous all over Europe But I don't really know how long it is the whole thing.

fedezyl 10-29-2003 10:52 AM

yeah, is it like the highway that surrounds london?
Like Paris périphérique?
If not we could have a track day too...that' would be awesome, like all going to the Nurburing, or Silverstone

Jabba 10-29-2003 11:01 AM

In the sections where they are working on the road (contra flow) usually yes...although I guess the points on your licence are not going to matter if your not based in the UK...

I did a recent trip from Brighton to Herfordshire only last week (355 and Diablo) probably on average a two hour thirty minutes journey...coming back we did it in just over 1 hour...and didn't drop below 100 much....max speeds around 160 in the 355 and over 170 in the Diablo....didn't see a police car the whole time and only the few gatsos already mentioned...

fedezyl 10-29-2003 11:03 AM

oh...did you get any tickets from the gatsos?? lol!

The only thing I need is a car then, and we can definetely do the Jabba's 24 hs..

Hey jabba did you ever get to top speed in your diablo?

Jabba 10-29-2003 11:06 AM

Nope never broken the 200 mph barrier yet...

fedezyl 10-29-2003 11:10 AM

LOL...isn't it tempting? you should take a little trip to germany....
I think i'm getting adicted to speed....the other day I was "racing" (more like I got my ass kicked several times) a friend in his Bike and I got to 135 mph in my dad's car...very close to top speed...and i'm like...well...I need more...maybe around 155 mph...
Anyways, hey you never take vacations do you?

Jabba 10-29-2003 11:15 AM

The longest ring road in the world, the M25 was designed to make traffic drive around London instead of through it.

It is 195.5 km (121.5 miles) long.

It cost an estimated £909m to build (£7.5m per mile).

It does not completely encircle London as the eastern crossing at Dartford is formed of the A282 which is a general purpose road partly in Kent and partly in Essex linked by the Dartford tunnel and bridge which are tolled highways.

Between junctions 15 and 14 (M4 to A3113) the M25 carries 165000 vehicles per day* making it the busiest motorway in the UK.

There are 31 junctions (32, if Junction 21A is counted separately) numbered from Junction 1 south of the Dartford Tunnel clockwise round to Junction 31 north of Dartford Tunnel connecting with A13.

These interchanges include nine major motorway-to-motorway interchanges.

The signing system on the M25 uses five key destinations - Heathrow, Gatwick, Dartford Tunnel, Harlow and Watford. At the approaches to the M25 the signs show the next key destination. The idea of this is to help drivers go the right way round it.

An average of 20,000 trees per mile have been planted alongside and near the carriageways.

Four service stations were originally planned. At the moment there are only three, Clacket Lane between Junction 5 and 6, South Mimms at Junction 23 and Thurrock between Junction 30 and 31. The fourth proposed site was at Iver on the five mile length between Junction 15 and 16.

When it's quiet you can stay on it for hours and still end up in the same place.

When it's busy you can stay on it for hours and still end up in the same place.

In the year 2000 novelist, poet and "psychogeographer" Iain Sinclair walked anti-clockwise around the motorway for his book London Orbital.

Along with the Great Wall of China, it is supposedly one of the few man-made constructions that is visible from space.

It's a metaphor for life, if you drive along it for long enough, you return to your starting point.

fedezyl 10-29-2003 11:28 AM

Wow!! that is wicked! is there a record for the fastest lap around it?

Jabba 10-29-2003 11:33 AM

I think it is currently held by an Escort Cosworth....and I think its time for Jabbas World to own that record now....perhaps it could be broken in an F40 ????

gis 10-29-2003 11:35 AM

wow yeah definately in an F40

is it held by that martin hadlands ford escort?

Jabba 10-29-2003 11:44 AM

I am trying to find some information on it on the net...but have found nothing so far

if you put the ford gt and 360 side by side without tellin someone the name, someone that didnt know the history of the gt40, they would pick the ford because its a better car, just as Jezza picked it over a 360. and he's the biggest ferrari nut, that says alot!

its pretty amazing how tiny the country is but has more motorways than australia. well at least much larger and longer

LOL!

You'd better pick a quiet moment for that record and if you do I bet you can beat that Cossie with the Diablo.

Jabba 10-29-2003 01:08 PM

First we gotta find out what the damn record is.....

cho_888 10-29-2003 05:15 PM

yes we need to find the record, then we know how much faster jabba is!

gis 10-29-2003 05:16 PM

i checked a couple of magazines 2nite tryin to find info on this record,in the back of my mind i think its held by martin hadland as he has the fastest escort cosworth in the UK,but unfortunately i couldnt find a time

Jabba 10-29-2003 05:23 PM

I think what with all the new strict guide lines on speeding in the UK its become a very much underground record hence why its not talked about much these days....or so it would seem...

I think a Koenigsegg would beat the Zonda... or even the Mac F1 for that matter... proven 242mph capabilities... and its powered by a Ford V8, (thats y i love it).

Jabba 10-29-2003 05:33 PM

Here we go again...I will say it once again...having a car that can go that speed is one thing... driving it at that speed is another.....no one ever seems to consider how much skill / stupidty is required from the driver to sustain those sort of speeds...

gis 10-29-2003 05:39 PM

plus i aint seen a koinigsegg doing 242mph,the one on gumball was only word of mouth, not video proven

Jabba 10-29-2003 05:42 PM

oh...and how long did the koinigsegg last btw before it broke down....??? probably wouldnt have made it past the first junction on the JW 24-hour...at least I have the video of my 185 mph..and was doing it all day long as well....

TT 10-29-2003 05:56 PM

Quote:

oh...and how long did the koinigsegg last btw before it broke down....???
LMAO, true, for the Gumball you just need a reliable car, not a MTM Bimoto or a Koenigsegg, cars able to do 250 mph but unable to do more than 100 miles w/o a problem ;)
That said, gimme a CC8S anyday!

Jabba 10-29-2003 06:16 PM

The Zonda maybe alot more reliable with its Mercedes engine.....

TT 10-29-2003 06:18 PM

Oh yes for sure :)

hemi_fan 10-29-2003 07:47 PM

I also think ud have to be quite stupid to go 250 in the Bimoto, the thing is Just a TT... not exactly aerodynamically built for those speeds. But the koenigsegg is made for that speed, and I think it could last a race... Plus, did u not say that ur cars werent the most reliable vehicles on the road either?

hemi_fan 10-29-2003 07:47 PM
