no no. it sounds like there's a delay from when the engine gets its air to when the rev's start mounting. sorta like his engine to powerfull for the tranny and there's a bit of "backlash". i dont really know how to explain it.
i think you know what i mean though. a bit of give of the tranny and such would do this. i think. |
Not at all.
Such dyno runs are done in 4th gear.. so all the driver/tester is doing is driving up through the gears... letting the dyno settle on the correct spark/timing signal for the RPM counter, sitting at low rpms and then he hits the gas - in 4th gear to do a dyno pull. Quite normal engine behaviour - and not an indicaiton of a "lose driveline" taking up slack or anything.. afterall - its not like a chain driven motorcycle where the actual components do "take up slack" when you wick the throttle.. |

Doesnt matter - there is no "slack" in a geared system.. at least not the types of "sloppyness" you are trying to explain away.
Any engine with a 6600 - 7000rpm redline will at first slowly build revs from very low rpm when you open the throttle. I completely disagree with your analysis.. ;) It is not mechanical at all - but simply a natural stumble of the fuel/air delivery and hence power output at that point in time. The kind of mechanical slop you are talking about does not exist except in a setup that has just been broken. :) |

This car is making 562 rwhp and 507rwtq. The little sputter is just the nature of a very large cam, they are not the most streetable cams.
