Personally, I think that is a pretty kickass sighting, and if you don't think so that's great, but why not just keep your mouth shut about it? Sorry if I missed some hidden sarcasm. |

I don't care what the situation, I would be fucking excited to see a Ford GT! Its such a gorgeous car in pics, I can't imagine it in person! 8) |
its a nice car to see in person, but it doesn't give me a boner or anything like that
|
periodically seeing them on the road is great... unfortunately still quite hard to photo in movement...
ill also post the most sad Ford GT i have ever seen... you will understand... sorry for the poor quality in advance http://img111.exs.cx/img111/4370/DSC01817.th.jpg |

Well I haven't seen one in person, but the lines are extremely similar to the original which i consider to be a truly beautiful car and yes i have seen one in person (and its mostly British of course so its bound to be better ...... ducks for cover)

Are you for real...i can't belive u compared this v8 powered 100 odd grand car with a pure breed V12 Ferarri which costs 3-4 times as much!...come on man... ...they are two totally differnt cars, both built to be fast sure, but one is the ultimate, and you can't compare a 360 competiotor to a top of tree supercar... ...i personaly think the Enzo is the pinnacle. Its perfect...Great sighting btw... 8) |

Now - back to the GT - another timeless shape... a couple changes from the original are not perfect, but still a great looking classic shape. |

lol have any pic of the stang you were suppose to see?

^^^^^
although i disagree, it truely comes down to opinion. and RC, i would agree with you that the F40 still holds that spot in most ways. i get quite giddy when i see the GT, a special ferrari (all 360's have become bland after the third one i saw, where 355s still hold something special when i see it.) when i saw my first(and only) Porsche 959 in Koblenz, i was like this.. even knowing i would really never want one, i knew it was special. when i first saw a red Enzo at the auto show, i was like this... every time since that ive seen one of a few Ferraris i have been like this... there is something about the allure of this car that draws me into it, so much so, i would say i want it more then almost any car in the world... and its so close. and al... the new one is 100% engineered in America... with some consulting with Saleen, Roush, and Aston Martin. regarding parts, most of those come from here too, with a few key elements (like the transmission) coming from companies like Ricardo. thanks for all the nice comments guys... i wouldn't have guessed so much controversay would come out of a few pictures from a Ford dealership  :P  |
Man I would Kill for that car.

i may love the look of a DB2, but you could never get away with producing it today. where the lotus super 7 seems quite successful today as a caterham... and the GT has been quite successful as a kit car too. |

From Japan or Korea or Germany or the UK or France or Sweden or Italy? (and many of these are made in Mexico.. :P... heheh) |
hey if i went to a Ford Dealeship and saw a Ford GT i would be really excited, but if i went to a car show where there was like Ferraris and Lambos etc then i wouldnt cae so much about the Ford, but if its on its own hell ya its sweet
and SilviaEvo your not a weird person for taking a Challenge Stradale over a Ford Gt lol im sure most people would. But a Ford Gt is still sweet man, you know when we read about cars in Magazines and talk about them on here we say one thing but when we see the car in person being driven and stuff like that its tottally different. Well for me it is. I just love cars, so if I say I hate a Mac F1 for example it doesnt mean i wouldnt give a shit if i saw one driving by me, id still be like look holy fuck that cars wicked. |

...i personaly think the Enzo is the pinnacle. Its perfect...Great sighting btw... you are dumb for not doing your research. The Ford GT made a .2 of a sec in a 1/4 against a Enzo. It has a bigger powerbad, more heritage, 4xs less in cost, more rrom for improvement to the engine. and the beauty yes I have seen a Ford GT in real life but I nearly pissed my pants knowing that I was standing next to the fastest production car in the state of VA infront of me. The looks were stunning but they put it in a cramped little space. kind of sucked and the worst staff of any ford dealership which is very rare. here are some pics I took: http://img4.exs.cx/img4/4233/26-Picture002.jpg http://img4.exs.cx/img4/6198/28-Picture003.jpg http://img4.exs.cx/img4/6653/fb-Picture004.jpg http://img4.exs.cx/img4/1995/96-Picture005.jpg http://img4.exs.cx/img4/8528/de-Picture006.jpg also the Ford GT finally had a dyno 565 bhp and they said it had more potential. |
Looking at the invoice on Page 1:
$4000 for McIntosh system $5000 for the stripes - seemed to be inspired by the pricing on the 360CS  I notice that they don't mention the power or torque figures - is it because of the Mustang cobra incident some years back where they quoted something and it was verified that the power was about 20 bhp less and was a SNAFU. Not that I am doubting the GT's power - I want to know if they are explicitly stating that is 550bhp or 500 bhp... |
Quote:
official ford press documents say 550hp, which is nearly an accurate term when the car has near 0 miles on it. after a few thousand miles, and an oil change or 2 later, the car is damn near 600 hp @ the crank... perhaps over ive heard  this is one car Ford is under-rating... not to mention, thier dynos are only accurate to 600 hp |
Pretty sweet hehe...hope they let me take my digi-cam tomorrow...I'm going on an SAE tour of the Saleen and Wixom plants where the GT is assembled thanks to our mutual buddy deth.
|
what it do the quarter mile in

The world would be a very dull place if we all agreed all the time. Personally i think it looks absolutely fabulous. The only negative things for me with this car are: - the price - only left hand drive - only TWENTY EIGHT cars for uk... grrrr. |
Holy fucking Ford GT!! Ok...so nthfinity posted a picture of the Wixom assembly plant where the GT's final bits and pieces come together...I didn't expect that they'd let me take any pictures or anything either at Wixom, or at Saleen where partial assembly occurs, but....not only did I get to take pictures, I got some video of one of the cars on a chassis dyno undergoing some final checks before delivery to a customer. I still think it's a bit too muffled, but damn it sounded good. In the Wixom plant there were something like 60-70 cars all waiting for delivery to customers. I've got pictures and am currently uploading them to an Imagestation album, I'll post the link when I'm done :-)

The Ford will do 0-100mph in 8.8 seconds The Jaguar XJ220 does the same increment in 7.9 The Mclaren F1 does it in 6.3 and the Enzo does it in 6.6...if the Ford is nearly 2 seconds behind the Enzo and Macca at that point, how in the fuck could it possibly do the quarter in less time? |
no shit man, the Ford gt is a wicked car but the quarter mile in 11 seconds dead? i doubt it
|
actually 11.2 secs @ 133.9 mph
i didn't say 11 secs dead i meant in the 11s and if you saw the article of enzo vs. CGT vs. ford gt u'll see that the CGT was .1 slower than the enzo and the ford gt was .1 slower than the CGT. plus racing slicks isn't everything its a 6 gear car that would have to be changed. 4 gears, readjust gear ratios, readjust supercharger, add drag racing back tires, set car for acceleration except top speed 200+mph isn't gonna help you unless you do 6s and 7s. theres numberless amount of work you would have to do and that powerband would boost it infront of the enzo in a drag race. read this: Quote:
|
OK...well "setting it up" as a drag car, i.e. changing the supercharger boost, modifying the gear-ratios, changing the gearbox, changing the rear end, changing the tires, and oh, maybe adding a pair of sissy bars, roll cage and stripping out the passenger seat and all the sound deadening, replacing the body with Carbonfiber etc...etc...yes, sure it could break into the 8's or 9's...but the way your post made it sound, I would never have guessed you were talking abuot that sort of vast amount of modifications. Under those circumstances almost any car on the market could break into the 8's or 9's given enough work and enough money.

LMAO!!!
the GT is no enzo, and the enzo could likely break into the 10 second range if it didnt have such tight rear suspension. the GT is a fast car, but we are talking about comparing it to the Enzo? two different realms there. with slicks on, i imagine the GT could cut its 0-60 time by about 1/2 a second, and that half second is all that would be gained in the 1/4 mile... so with slicks, i think 11.2 is achievable with everything else layed stock. |
