Gran Turismo 4...and the Nurburgring
 

There is some talk that the Nordschleife (sp?), aka "North Loop" of the Nurburgring race course might be included in GT4 or some future version of Gran Turismo kind of like part of Pikes Peak was in GT2. Imagine pounding through the 14.8 mile course in some of the world's most exotic machinery...at least it's an attainable goal...not everyone can have a Lambo in real life :wink: :wink:

I heard voice about a very long track, but so far no official confirmations came from Polyphony Digital.. but it would be supercool!

And BTW, GT4 will be playable online ;) and online races at the ring, even with only 6 cars, would be GREAT!

I know for a fact that the SL55 AMG is in the game so that's what I would be using, even if i lose i would look very very cool in my SL 8) .

First they said December 2003, but as always Polyphony can't respect the dates ;)

Now it's moved into the beginning of 2004.. January maybe.. but apparently in Japan they'll also release sort of a beta version, with limited cars and track (similar to GTConcept), to show something to the public...

nordschleife will be in PGR2 :D

I have high hopes for GT4. GT3 was a let down for me. I hope the ring is in, if it is, between GT4 and PGR2, I'll be doing a ton of laps!

I don't think it's going to be coming out in January either...the best estimate so far was what I saw on ign.com I think, it said that based on the fact that Polyphony is already claiming delays are occuring, the game probably won't be available (in the US at any rate) until sometime in the spring or summer next year. I don't actually think that Nurburgring is going to be in GT4...but in some successive version of the game. Either way, it's going to be an awesome game for sure.

Crap number 4 is coming out already? lol i still havent finished 3 yet. Think i got till about 70% complete. has anyone actually bothered to finish every track and get 100% complete including the endurance races ....soo time consuming.

I heard sometime summer of next year for GT4.
Apparently, they were falling behind with the number of new models of cars they were entering the frames in for (I think the total number at the end was supposed to be 400, if I'm not mistaken)

As to GT3, I got to about, oh, 98%. Unfortunately for me, I bought a super-early version of the game. Apparently, Polyphonic intended to have a drag-racing section to the game, but never finished it. However, they forgot to take the races from that out of the total game count, so apparently, I'll never finish the game (they did fix it, but I wasn't going to pay another $40 for a newer version of the same game)! I just about cried when I found that out :)

i'm at 97% ....just a couple more of those damn endurances left....those F1 races took forever to get gold! i thought the drag racing sim was supposed to be in GT2 cuz i remember i finished everything but said i was at 99%

95%++ omg, how many hours does that total, must be much more than playing Final Fantasy, you guys need to get a life :P

You did? Hrm. Well, I would probably try to find out, but I've already lost too many hours of sleep over that game. No use starting up with that game again when I've already managed to wean myself off that addiction once, already :)

I did too...I actually did it twice, cuz I wanted to win some cars to expand my garage...I guess that definetely makes me a loser hehehe. I managed to beat everything and I have gold on all the license tests too, so I've got the bonus cars that come with the territory...for a bit of a challenge, I tried to beat the game without buying any cars, and only paying for upgrades...unfortunately it wasn't possible because some of the races require vehicles that you can't get any other way. I also have the 1st US release of the game and while it was stuck on 98.6% for quite some time, it turned out that I had one endurance race left to go, and that accounted for it hehe.

Man, once GT4 is out my life will be ruined. When GT3 came out all I did for a month and a half was eat, sleep, and drink GT3. Now this....Bye Bye world....

I heard a November 2004 release date... they are so mean teasing us with all this info and making us wait another year :twisted: grrr

Hope that the Ring is in gt4, greatest track in the world!!!!

I've read two things:

1) The Japan release is set for April. No mention was made about whether localization would be occurring simultaneously for English speaking markets unfortunately. Although the recent trend has been to have more world wide releases, we may see a Final Fantasy style thing where you have to wait 4 - 6 months :shock:.

2) I read somewhere that Yamauchi ("Mr Gran Turismo") said the Nurburgring was too large to render with the current engine :(. Unfortunately it makes a lot of sense since even the test course in GT3 is still significantly smaller and less geomertrically complex than the 'ring. We can still hope though.

What I've read (I think I already posted it too, but I'm too lazy to check hehe) is that Yamauchi wants to put the 'Ring in one of the future versions of the game, but wouldn't specify which...though he did seem to indicate that GT4 was out of the question...but here's hoping all the same!

I wish they would put the ring in. Why not have the most badass track in the most badass racing simulation.

I am waiting for gt4 to buy a ps2 in the US, i have one at home, but I want one here!

Sorry dude...so far no ferraris or lambos if i'm not mistaken on GT4 yet. This sucks so much!...I haven't finished GT3 either, but as soon as GT4 hits the shelfs I'll go buy it!

Chaos hes talking about Project Gotham Racing 2 for Xbox, not GT4. I cant wait to do the ring in a Saleen S7 with PGR2.

yea the 'ring is in PGR2, but you have to beat like 80 percent of the game if you want to unlock the track. Unless you beat someone on Xbox live and win the track there of course. But since I don't have xbox live, i have to do it the hard way. (i'm in melbourne, but i live in Malaysia, and they don't have Xbox live there..DAMMIT!) Anyone know if GT4 will sport any ///M cars? I know the Z4 is in, but what about the M3? Or (hopefully) the new M5?

Will that game be available to the PC ? or do i have to buy one PS2 ?

Due to lack of ram on PS2 (only 32mb) there is no chance of making Nurby in GT4 :(

Thats why there are only 6 cars, thats why there are no skidmarks :(

What is the price of an Ps2 in other countries of europe? Here in portugal is about 200/250€. And games about 60/70€ =\

He meant only 6 cars in each race. Which sucks, if they can manage a full field in 24 Hours of LeMans on the Dreamcast you'd think you could have a larger field on GT4.

They should dump that giant test track they had in GT3 and give us the Ring instead.

I haven't heard conformation about the Ring in GT4. I've read all that is available for GT4 and I've seen April quoted as a release date all the way up to Xmas 04. So who knows. The beta version you are refereing to is Gran Turismo 4 Prologue, it has 50 cars and a school mode (licence type mode) It has 5 tracks but was only released in Asian markets. There also is rumor of Gran Turismo Bike, polyphony has been seen trailering around many bikes to different tracks. It is supposed to fill the gap between GT4 and GT5.

Yeah it would be pretty cool to race with a F1 car in the Nordschleife.
I have many videos of nurburgring, and it´s very very cool. I hope pholipony put Nurburgring on the new GT4. And Interlagos too, Suzuka, A1 Ring, Indianapolis...

I sure hope that it's in there. Probably more fun than actually running the course in a rental Audi A6 w/ a TDI engine :roll: (it was a great experience, but the car was just way underpowered and the powerband too narrow for too much fun and learning - I would have killed for a gas-powered car that didn't weigh 4000 lbs!)

as of now the us release date is set for april 30 but we all know that that means it will be a couple of more months probably june.

btw i have always heard that the total car list was 500+
