Here's a message I just got from Barista girl.

"Hey, I'm so sorry it took so long for me to reply to your email.Â* I've been crazy busy the past two weeks.Â* If you're able to,Â*I'm working at Starbucks from 3-1030 on Saturday, you could come get your CD, if you have the chance.Â*Once again, I'm sorry it took so long."


Now, I'm trying to decide whether or not to pounce on this and say something like "Its no big deal as long as you make it up to me/ can't be there" (it really is a bitch to get there) or just play it cool and say "No worries, see you Saturday"

How does this kind of situation get played?

it's always better to pass off the first cheesy attempt to see each other. Setting up another time to get together will reflect better on you since going on saturday would just make it seem like the cd is the only reason you went to see her.

This stuff is coming easier now. Meanwhile, does playing like you don't need a women in bar situations get them to come to you? How do you play it?

ok if i was to play that at a bar, i mite get ONE chick if i was lucky come up to me, and even then there is only a 50/50 chance i could gte her number or get with her.

in that 3 hours of playing "hard to get" i could of went to evrey chick in the place, and gotten muiltiple numbers - go figure?

Just think of it this way, what are the chances that you'll ever see any of those women who say no again? It's not like high school where everyone knows you got shot down and laugh about it. Everyone in the place has been told no dozens of times.

well assuming she is interested, she may have suggested the CD and mundane meeting spot of her workplace as a kinda test(women love these). Im assuming she likes you, so I would say you cant make it saturday, think of a good excuse, then ask her to meet another day. Do not mention the CD, because truthfully u dont care, u want her not the cd. if u can get her, u can get the cd whenever u feel like it. The only thing that bothers me about this situation is that you had not talked to her in over two weeks..... keep us posted blink meat.

girls always want you to do the chasing though, they dont wanna work at getting you. You've got to put all the effort in to meet her. So either go along on sat or as someone else said make up a real good excuse why u cant go but make sure you set another date otherwise she wont think ur interested

Not always.... some girls nowadays are the hunters. Which I personally think is really cool..... it shows character!

Without being straight-up how can you logistically get a phone number. My boys are telling me this is the next step in the process, but since I rarely see these girls I need to establish some kind of "talking foundation" outside of email.

Email is therefore my only real option here, unless I happen upon them by random luck. Which of course never seems to happen.

Just ask for it... duh...:P

She wanted to know if you can make the Saturday meet... well, tell her you will be on the road and will need to call her as your day opens up.

tru dat, i've been at college for a month and i havent had to initiate one conversation with a girl. they have all come to me. im starting to like this modern shit. plus, and im not gonna lie, the booze help.

no, i could definitely see how it gets harder as you enter your second and third year.

nah dude its never easier nor harder. getting girls is easy. its up to you to read the signals she gives out. yah maybe first yr there are lots of young girls 'let loose' at college, but its not like those same girls all of a sudden decide they no longer want men the next yr or yr after. its all about timing, and making the right choice on who you want to go after. also if ure a nice enuf guy, not dead fucking ugly, and treat girls with respect you should do just fine!

So I've emailed this girl and basically asked her to hang out, go to a bar, or do whatever but she's choosing not to entertain the idea. Instead I get...

figure out when her lunch break is, swing by and offer to take her to lunch.
tell her you were in the area, make it seem like more of a surprise.
she's played this game before, so i think she is going to try and keep the ball in her court a little longer than she normally would. you may eventually have to play by her rules, i just didn't think it would be this soon...

Then I get this;

"Hey, just a little update.Â* I'm now working on Friday night at Starbucks 6-1030.Â* If you can't make it in any of those days maybe we could arrange something else."

i dont understand this girl. you need to give us some more background info. how well do u know her? i mean it seems strandge she only wants to meet you at work, in a public place where there will be limited time to speak with you. it seems she is only interested in the exchange of the cd....you have only one choice i think. it is to tell her you are interested, and you would like to take her out sometime. if she declines, then sorry my friend, she isnt interested, get ur cd, and find a new girl. if she says yes, (you should have a plan already in place when u ask her) for best results, ask her in person...if she is unsure or cant commit, walk away she doesnt want you, that or she aint worth the effort.

wait, wait, wait!! she keeps telling you what time she get off work, so go swing by and meet her as she's getting off. that way you two can start a conversation and before you know it you'll have talked for like 45 minutes to an hour (maybe more depending on the topic) that way you'll have established the talking foundation. right before turns to go, ask her for her # so that you can talk without having to log on.

or if her shift ends in the after noon, take her out to eat after she gets off. Let the conversation go where it may during the meal. Eventually she'll start fishing for compliments during the meal if she's even slightly interested, all you have to do is bite!

and if things don't work out...take P.B.'s advice and go find other chicks that will be less of a hassle. :wink:

keep it simple for the first one. Casual dinner/lunch (depending on what time you get together) If you let her meet your friends too quick it may come off to her that you just want her to be one of the guys and nothing more. i'd wait until after the 3rd date to introduce her to the crowd.

I was talking to her on msn last night and she's so serious about school it puts me to shame... 4 hours of class plus work plus homework! yeah most girls that are really involved in school and everything else would just like some time to relax and have fun. You could probably play Jenga or something and she would get a kick out of it. ( just kidding about the Jenga thing). But any way what I mean is just help her to let loose.
