200mph+ Cossy and some TVRs at Bruntingthorpe. *VIDEO ADDED*
well, as some one here know, I know someone who has modified a fiesta to put out 600bhp, and run a proved 178mph. Well, this is his mates project:

dam those tvr's are gorgeous
|
That Sagaris is just beautiful. :D

Whats the top speed of that orange tvr? probably 200+
|
The Orange TVR is the new Typhon. Going to cost around £80,000 and has a top speed of over 200mph
|
Was this any sort of particular event? Or was it just a 'show up and go' sort of thing? I can't imagine they'll just haul down the prototype TVRs to just hash them around the track just for kicks, would they?
Nice shots! |
Bruntingthorpe is a well know proving ground. Loads of people use it to test cars, tuners and manufacturers alike. It was only by chance that TVR turned up at the same time.

thanks for the video, although ive no complaints about the TVR, i do prefer much more the sierra to be honest, once im a big fan of cosworth sportive fords such as the escort or the sierra............of course i love how the sierra looks(just a stock sierra with 17" wheels).....and the sound and sensations of the sierra must be stunning...(for instance thats why i like the 2 series of Getaway in Stockholm........due to the Escort Cosworth on the video).....anyway the sierra in question is a 4x4 version isnt it......the looks of the sierra is 100% of 4x4....
|
thanks for the pics....sorry...naturally
|
LOL, was woundering where the vid was! hehe
As for the Typhon, it is a supercharged straight 6. TVR are aiming for 500bhp. They have also developed a 6 speed sequential gear box. |
TVR's have a very unique beauty, that older car is amazing, 200mph you got to be kidding me!
|
yup - TVRs are great ;) they got specific style - a like them a lot.
www.tvrsupercars.com/ ---- few view (inside and outside) and a bit of raw data. |
Nice cars and pictures.
202mph from the rather bricklike Cossie with only 600hp seems - kinda.. oddly optimistic. Any links the full specs.. such as gearing etc? |
It's a insane fast cosworth and i think it can go faster.
9/04: Once again Performance Ford were at Bruntingthorpe using the latest Datron satellite timing gear, and confirmed that Rod Tarry's car had broken the previous Sapphire Cosworth top speed record of 183.27mph (previously held by Rod Tarry also) and the Cosworth top speed record of 188mph with a new record of 201.8mph in his 613bhp/507lb trq + 150bhp NOS Sapphire Cosworth!!! The first road legal Cosworth of any variant to pass 200mph!!! At 201.8mph the car still had masses of speed left in it, however, due to Bruntingthorpe airstrip only being 1.7miles long, the full potential of this car will never be able to be proven over such a small distance, as at 180mph+, the car is covering 3 miles a minute!!! http://www.apra70.dsl.pipex.com/home/news7.htm  :P |
Definitely an insane car regardless its a 4x4 or the rear wheel drive sierra, it doesnt say the article if its the 4x4 or not, but it must be the 4x4 in order to get the best traction when accelerating the car, it has to be almost impossible to get used to the car on twisty roads
|
But if it whas my car i fit a better aerodynamic carbon bodykit make it couple of 100 kg's lighter than stock.
It's rear wheel drive and is has no good traction for the sprint to 0-100 km/h but then it takes of. The magazine are in old spec not in the new 750 bhp+ spec. http://www.apra70.dsl.pipex.com/home/images/pfjul99.jpg http://www.apra70.dsl.pipex.com/home/images/pf7991.jpghttp://www.apra70.dsl.pipex.com/home/images/pf7992.jpg http://www.apra70.dsl.pipex.com/home/images/pf7993.jpg http://www.apra70.dsl.pipex.com/home/images/pf7994.jpg http://www.apra70.dsl.pipex.com/home/images/pf7995.jpg http://www.apra70.dsl.pipex.com/home/images/rodgrph.jpg http://www.geocities.com/rtarry_uk/   |
So he does the run using the 150 shot of Naws then? If so that makes it 750hp Cossie doing 200+ then... right?... ;) :P
|
It's running 614Bhp with 508ft/lb of Torque.
Not for a 4 door cosworth sierra.  :!:  |
cant say i like the sierra cossie. Maybe the escort, but still dont really like the ford cossie series
|
Nice mag article, thanks! 8)
|
I has almost 800 bhp.
On the record run used 2.5 bar & more ignition so circa 640bhp + 130shot of Nitrous so around 770. Here is a older video of rod's monster sierra. http://www.mp3anthems.com/rodvsporsche.mpeg  :P |
He is a video of that day. Video filmed, edited and hosted by Sunny:
