I think you gave us the wrong link.

astonmartinandy 09-12-2004 09:29 AM

Lol yeah I don't think that's the right link! Have to say the NSX does seem a strange choice for British police - a two seat sports car is strange enough, but then at least the Lotus Esprit they chose a few years ago was British!

bmwmpower 09-12-2004 11:52 AM

good link, you must click on cars

Finally, the Brits have something other than Omegas.

martin100 09-12-2004 01:29 PM

Why don´t you just post the direct link mate :?: This site seems a bit confusing :|

I can't understand the practicality of using a small little two seet
sports car as a police car. I mean, were do you put the arrested
criminals and all the other gear that has to be carried in a police
car. :? I still think that a Ford Crown Victoria is the best choice
for a police car. :)

Most "city" police cars in the UK are vauxhalls, but motorway police and high speed pursuit vehciles are high performance volvo estates, mercedes e class estates and mercedes ML's as well as a few evo's

I do hope you are joking.

The practicalities of an NSX/Corvette(US)/Gallardo(Italy) is that they can take part in a high speed pursuit, with handling to allow them to catch criminals.
The Lambo in Italy is used to transport organs to save people lives... tell me what is so unpratical about that :|

The NSX, it must be stressed, is only going to be used to promote the Safety Campaign in the UK, not to actually be used by the Police

Thanks mindgam3 for bigging up the UK

This will probably end up turning into one of those "What police cars do they use in your country topics?" :|

That's a great idea RC :D

A TVR, Noble or an Aston Martin would have been amazing 8)

Imagine a Vanq or a M12 in police livery :P

well it could have strobes on the lights and little lights in the grill down low, some cars also have lights in the visors when they flip them down.

jaguars are sometimes used and land rovers quite often but other than that british cars are too expensive or too extreme and just generally too unreliable for police use ;)

The britsh force do have some very nice cars....I remember reading EVO saying that they have X5 in service too

urban_hero 09-12-2004 07:49 PM

Well, the best car in the British Police force at the moment is a Rosso Corsa 360 Modena, the Metropolitan Police have it as a undercover police car!
I remember reading that in the Sunday Times Driving supplement.
Also the Yorkshire Police currently have an Impreza WRX in full livery.

And they say speed cameras are not intended to raise revenue......
