Very beautiful, it's a shame for the 9500rpm redline... but I hope the steering will provide more feeling, I read in Evo that the electronic servo-assistance is not as good as the traditional one
yeah, they say the value of the old one will go up, because of redline drop.
That is very, very beautiful car.cho_888 to you have any specs?
thats hot...too cramped if you don't want to get used to it.
That should make this thing alot quicker, i know alot of complaints in the reviews were about the early revs, because the VTEC in the car didnt kick in till around like 5500 RPMs. Now this should kick in around 4000, maybe even 3700 RPMs. Very good move honda. I love this car, its my favorite roadster, and this thing can move like no other.
SO the name won't be S2200? Phew ;)
As for the redline going down, I know that VTECs are meant to turn high, but the main downside of the S2000 always was the peak of power to high into the revs, to hard to be used fulltime... :) |
the car is very sexy indeed IMO,i read some were the other day that the figures stand at 240hp and 167 ft/lb torque.
but it comes with 17's instead of 16's this time..............YUMMY |
The S2000 WILL be my next car - One more year to go
I've been wanting one for over a year already and since my test drive it's the only choice :) |
dunno why but from the front it kinda reminds me of a miata. i hope the rear end on this car is more frisky. in the older s2000s the rear end didnt seem to want to play and yes steering feed back sucked. i never liked the feel of its gearbox either. getting used to shifting so high was one of its qauilitys now thats almost gone. i just hope it has more torque and with the bigger displacement a bottom end.
dude the redline is still at line 9000 RPMs i dont understand how you say the high shift is almost taken out?
Mmmm doesnt look that much of a difference to me.....maybe a few costmetic changes....any idea on hp figures?
compaire the redline on most other vtech engines around 7400 rpm this one isnt that much higher . just like honda always ruining a nice thing.
yea but when they drop the redline, the also lower the the RPMs for the VTEC to kick in. So you wont just be cruising around on nothing until 5,000 RPMs.
I hate the digital dash. It's small things like this that turn me off some times. Give this baby some analog gauges for godsake.

sorry i forgot it will be called "S2200" as far as i know. I dont think there is a major power increase, however, there will be alot more torque because of the bigger engine and lower red line.
My father drives and S2000 and i do a little bit of driving in it. I think it is a real drivers car, and in the begining was not built to compare against any other car, but to compare against it selft. It is great fun, and i think the new model will make it a little easyier to manage. |
the torque has been increased to 167 ft/lb,thats what i read
Nice, but why are they dropping the S2000 Named, I like it it just rolls of the tongue, not S2200.
i know it sounds shocking. As for the digital dash, well i think people have come to see it as a trade mark of the S2000. I also heaerd it will have softer susspention, which is really bad because they are turning the race car into a hairdressers car.
that is a true shame. i hope they adjust the gear ratio to make the car seem (tourquie?). which brings up a question i cant tell if its a 5 for six speed from the pics. tho i have a friend with a celica and its a 6 speed and he hardly ever gets the chance to use 6th gear. but its nice to have!
It has a 6 speed. I like the look of it. But only +14 tq???? I hope that it is an increase over the whole RPM range or something. And im pissed that they made the suspension softer. What the hell? This car is a drivers car. It shouldnt be marketed at 55 year olds because they are going through some fucking mid life crisis or something. Hopefully it is still as good at handling or better because of the tires/wheels.
Silvia its a honda it will have great handleing. Im guessing they arent making the suspension has soft as some of us think. Maybe just a little tune down.
hrm it looks kinda feminine, but I like the interior and the rims.
S2200 is a horrible name, its quite a mouthful comepared to S2000. |
Its a Feminine Looking car that will smoke manly cars.
i dont like the front of the new one as much as i dont like the name. How fast do you think the new one will be 0-100.
The old one had lots of mixed stats, although if you used the right driving techniques and are able to get the revs up there it can be done in 5.5seconds. The bigger engine will give it more torque so it will be easyer to do and will have more low down power. |
0-100 in 5.5 are you sure???
yeah as long as you rev it to about 6-7thousand then drop the clutch
Not a big change, subtle “face lift”, but still an attractive car. There were rumors that Honda was going to build a coupe version of the S2000, but still nothing has been confirmed yet (maybe next time when Honda do another face lift). We need the Type-V version here in the U.S.
You talking KM/h or MPH?
Km/h i'm an Australian.

type-R sounds the best |
you cant get the type r,v or s in australia as far as i know.
i must say that the car does look better than the previous one, although the old one was nice to.
i thought this new 2.2 engine was going to put out more than 250hp?? i do not remember where i read this but hopefully it does. |
I like the looks of the new car more than the current one. But I hate that they've lowered the redline and that nothing's been done on power... IMO the sreaming engine is among the primary fun factors of the S2K. And softer suspension  that's not a SL Merc for God's sake.
I'll have to admit... theres at least one Honda that I wouldnt mind owning :D 9k RPMs, dont get much better than that.
it is a great car my cusin has had three!
Cool. Is it really a 2.2 litre? What the old S2K need was torque. Nice rims. Is this for real though?
i love the new rear and exhausts they look bad ass
u thinkin bout gettin the new s2k cho_888? |
why do these stupids put dual exaust on a 4 banger? the added wieght and back pressure can only hurt proformace.
It will be my dads decision to weather i new one is bought, if we dont get one my cusin will and he is mad for honda's (i dont know why)
I will get some pics as soon as he gets it meanwhile here is a vid. http://h000625ee612c.ne.client2.attb...1-2150_MVI.AVI Dad and i at winton, you may have seen it. |
sweet,i hadnt seen this video of your s2k.
thanks for the link |
Not a problem there will big a much longer one, because i am going back november 8th. i will upload that after.
Glad they boosted the displacement. I wonder, does that help the torque that the car has been complainted of missing? Anyway the rear taillights have nice, small change for 04' and the rims are suitable.
Good looking car and it drives even better then it looks.
Have you driven the 2004, or the current model? but yes it does hold the road well.
I think the new rims on the 2004 S2000 were an option ($2000+) for the "old" S2000.

For AblativE and those who want some information on the S2000 type-v check out this link: http://world.honda.com/news/2000/4000707.html |
the Japanese get a lot more options than the rest of the world, no new rims for Aus.
The changes to the S2000 whilst few are perfect.
