Best driving game for PS2. Or should I buy an X-box instead?
I bought a PS2 yesterday. It came with the network adapter and ATV Offroad Fury 2. I'm looking for a cool driving game for PS2....with cars that is. What do you guys recommend? Or should I buy an X-box instead? If so, what game should I get for X-Box?

GT3, GT Concept, GT4 in some months ;)
For bikes, Riding Spirits II is very good and long IMO :D And no, the best driving games are still on the PS2 IMO. |

You will be happy with your PS2 ;) do you actually like other games or only racing ones? In the survival horror / RPG cathegories there are A LOT of great games for your PS2 :)
GT3 is definatly the right choice!! also GT4 prolouge aint bad but I'm not sure if it came out in america, I have an xbox aswell but there nothing out for it in IMO. I think u would be better sticking to your PS2, unless halo2 and Fortza tickles ya fancy, which are coming later this year.
Yeah, buying GT4 prolouge may make u think u are paying double for GT4...but it is by far having better graphics, dynamics and gameplay than GT3....so do put GT4 prolouge in consideration :)
if your going to get xbox live i say go for Forza which comes out before christmas.
thats one of the dumbest questions ive heard in a while of course GT3
As others have said, GT3 and then GT4 (when it is released). I wouldn't bother with the GT4 demo , just play GT3 and wait for the full version of GT4 (I'm a crazy foo! so I went and bought the GT4 demo).
Re: other games to get If you like the Time Crisis series ( as I do) get a pair of guns and do it John Woo style. GTA: Vice City (Grand Theft Auto) was great, but I quickly got tired of it. I haven't played it after my initial session after buying the game. Unlike the Gran Turismo or Time Crisis series which I have a blat on a weekly basis at least. Didn't find the 1st person shooters all that great (I came from Goldeneye on the N64) and I prefer Halo on the XBox out of the current crop. |
I haven't touched my PS2 in ages. But for racing games with cars I'd say gt3. But right now I want to get an xbox because of pgr2 and toca race driver 2.
Has to be the Gran Turismo series on the PS2
if your just having one console stic witht he PS2 and get the GT series, cant go wrong with those and GT4 in a few months will be awesome.
x-box really only has PGR2 as a good car racing game,so PS2 is the afe bet to stick with |
well having one console is good, but how about you get BOTH like me
yeah anyway, i haven't play forza yet but so i can't tell much there, but i have both xbox and ps2 and i gotta say i enjoy PGR2 much more then GT4. |
Is GT4 Prologue on sale in Canada? Its not in the US, for sure.
I'd have it by now if it were! |

BTW: I haven't seen Prologue in Canada, so I guess it's not out here either. |

^^ This comment made me think GT4 was out in Canada, as it was written by a Canadian, y'see  If it was out in Canada, it'd work on my US PS2, and thus I'd order a copy from a Canadian store!!! |
The prolouge edtion is out for a long time...but GT4 won't be out till Nov......
(but of course, my PS2 is chipped....and I bought my prolouge edtion in DVD-R form :) |
Buy GT3, it will take months before you finished this game 100%. By that time GT4 will be available. Some other nice PS2 games are WRC 3 and upcoming GTA San Andreas.
If you still like getting present I say go for Forza is definitley going to be better than GT4 theirs articles about the game in this forum.

i played a juiced demo it has nothing on forza or GT4
Forza has the problem that there is no decent force feedback wheel for the XBox.

If I had to choose 1 - the PS2 would get the vote for driving with a Force Feedback wheel and GT3 (and soon to be 4)

If you like driving sims as opposed to racing games, you might want to check out F355 Challenge and Lotus Challenge (I think that's what they're called).
You might have trouble finding them though. I know I am. |
I found F355 for the PS2... after I had first bought the Ferrari wheel for the Dreamcast...
I say go for the Xbox and also get Live, as for games go for PGR2 (a lot of ppl still play it, even pro drivers not just newbs) and in November or December get Forza.
why would you care about force feed back you will to much fun customizing and racing.
Force feed back adds some realism to the game in my opinion.
You NEED force feedback!!!! On prolouge the stearing was so so so much better than GT3 try driving the mclaren at full speed on Tuskuba circuit, and I garentee you will not hold that wheel without it shaking, the feedback is really strong. Wheels are so much better please take my advise. You need a PS2 for GT4, if you want the closest thing to real driving.
actually the physics in Forza and the enemy drivers are built in AI that watches how you drive and manipulates to it to beat you. So no its not more real. Abd no Juiced, GT4, And Forza arn't made on Fantasy they are made on realistic.
Well iv got an x-box wished I got a ps2 just for GT4 though ha ha, but I still like the x-box few games I play, main one is V8 Supercars 2, think its called Toca Race Driver or something for you guys well depending one what country you from etc. But I like that game, just certain things I dont like that they bloody took outa the first one god dam it.
what did they take out?
I dont like how you cant bloody change the weather in the dam game, so you cant drive on the track thats raining unless its a track thats raining. Thats about the only thing thats on the down side, well that I can think of any ways he he :D
