SilviaEvo 07-19-2004 05:13 PM

i agree the new ones are ugly this one reminds me of the 350Z
i also love the RB26DETT's!

twboy1999 07-19-2004 05:13 PM

looks like an ugly piece of shit off roader

T-Bird 07-19-2004 05:14 PM

looks too much like a Cadillac especially the lights but that's just me.

vexor 07-19-2004 06:36 PM

Why couldn't Nissan just give the R34 a new facelift and put in a more powerful engine? This new Skyline is just plain ugly.

nurbrun 07-19-2004 06:42 PM

That looks more like what the 2007 Altima should look like........how the hell is that supposed to resemble a skyline :!:

mindgam3 07-19-2004 06:45 PM

yeah they should've at least made it vaguely look like the old one, otherwise whats the sense in calling it a skyline?? I've seen a fair few concepts/ps skylines n none of them look at all like the old one. Havent seen this one before and its the ugliest so far

X-ale 07-19-2004 07:20 PM

It was obvious they were gonna go 350Z. I personnaly think it's fabulous they got out of the box and into the curves. It looks beautiful. A mix between 350Z and RX-8.

davide 07-19-2004 08:03 PM

That's not the skyline I know it... bring back the old one, or make one better!

stracing 07-19-2004 10:16 PM

WTF is Nissan doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

first they kill off the GTR then the Silvia, now theyre building shitty looking cars and have the audacity to call it the new GTR :?: :!:

i betcha Toyota is fucking happy coz frankly Nissan are making their whitegood products look even better than before.

CMonakar 07-19-2004 10:48 PM

Nice jelly bean.

Chaos in 1983! 07-19-2004 10:51 PM

is this official? I think it looks like a piece of shit...no way this can be the new GTR

JiggaStyles09 07-20-2004 12:06 AM

hmmm, its not too bad, but i wish they would have stuck with the old design and improved on it. this doesnt look like a skyline to me. I would even have preferred the GTR concept to this just because it had more skyline cues with it.

Sachmo12345 07-20-2004 12:25 AM

this is bullshit they had the perfect design for the first 3 generations and now its gone to shit

Xploded 07-20-2004 12:37 AM

God if they make it look like that ill throw up ha ha, plain ugly no doubt about that.

RAMAN 07-20-2004 12:55 AM

Oh man, Nissan really fucked the GT-R over if that's anything near production look. Very disappointing. :(

ae86_16v 07-20-2004 01:10 AM

Wow that is pretty ugly. The R34 looked good, I hope they seriously reconsider this one before releasing.

spicymustard 07-20-2004 01:13 AM

Well of corse it has to look like the 350z. The skyline has been out for several years in japan. In the US its called the g35 coupe. The Skyline GTR is what we have here which i have always imagined would look similar to the Skyline (duh) I too have read these rumors about the 400hp but i dont see how that is posible as the japanese limit hp to 285. Personally i really dont care what it looks like if it is at all faster than the r34 GTR i will have to like it.

gottacatchup 07-20-2004 03:31 AM

http://img18.exs.cx/img18/2361/skyline1.th.jpg
I'd say this version looks alot better. Much more of the R34 in the rear with a touch of 350z/G35 up front.

philios55 07-20-2004 06:22 AM

I've never seen that before, but if that its going be the basis for the new Skyline then its a shame!

aks 07-20-2004 07:16 AM

that's so much better than the one posted by oldsnail. hopefully none of these are the actual design, because i don't think anybody would be caught dead in the first one, and the headlights of the second one just don't seem skyliney enough (you know; sporty, masculine, etc.)

time to pray for nissan :!:

Evo 07-20-2004 03:47 PM

dose not look like a Skyline at all.. I like the shape.. But I hate it also.. I mean it dose not look like any of the privious onces.. It have to be an Evolution thing.. not a completely new car.. They should have worked with the R34 and made it better like what they did before when transforming the amazing R32 in to the R33 and so on.. This Sucks.. :? :(

oantob 07-20-2004 11:37 PM

I agree with EVO the new generation skyline GT-R should resembles the old skyliners... because the R30, R32, R33, and the R34 share the same design.... because skyline is a legend from time to time, so the evolution of the car must be obvious... maybe nissan motor corp. read all our post and they should redesign the new nissan skyline GT-R...

possessed_beaver 07-21-2004 02:19 PM

personaly i don't rely mind it

ofcorse it has nothong on the other reat godzilla's but it has something that aint that bad about it.

i will wait for the "official" pictures thoe.

because this isen't the first pic claming to be the new nissan skyline.
and i dont think it will be the last.

Josh 07-22-2004 10:39 AM

What have they done to the Skyline
Skylines are meant for the streets, there meant to go fast
This skyline looks like a car that wants to go slow to show off how good it looks
I could neva see one of those with a huge spoiler a body kit to match and a blue neon system

IgotWRXed 07-24-2004 07:57 PM

well the car is also rumored to come in around 90k so i think they are going for a different demograph than the ones who are current Skyline lovers, the regular import freaks.

rachaderua 07-26-2004 05:33 PM

the best skylines made ever are the R32, R33 and R34...no more is greater or beautier...

HeilSvenska 07-26-2004 06:37 PM

at least it looks interesting

tifneedle208 07-27-2004 12:30 AM

Man I love that thing.

Caplax40 07-27-2004 01:25 AM

If the author of this thread actually put the full article in his post it would have read...

"Lotus is once again in the US sports-car limielight thanks to the introduction of the Elise. What's next fo the small car company based in Hethel, England? The Esprit replacement? Yes, but before that, we discovered that the company is busy with the upcoming Nissan supercar, the GT-R. Sources told us that Lotus has been hired to fine-tune the car's handling, which includes developing the suspension and steering. The prototype car, which wears an Infinity G35 Coupe shell, has been spotted numberous times around Hethel this past year.
Nissan has also outsourced the development of the GT-R's engine to Cosworth, the noted race-engine builder. We hear Cosworth is massaging Nissan's VQ powerplant to produce about 450bhp. Early reports suggest that the 6-cylinder engine will be turbocharged. So what do we make of all this? Well, it confirms that Nissan is serious about the next GT-R, due to hit showrooms around the world in 2007, and is seeking the help of outside experts to produce what may be the ultimate grand tourer. When the GT-R, which may possible wear and Infinity badge, arrives, drivers of cars sucha as the BMW M5 had better keep an eye out. -Sam Mitani

That straight from the current issue of Road and Track (August 2004, page 54) and has been copied word for word by yours truly.

So fear not fellow fans of the Skyline, I'm sure that shell is just for development purposes.

X-ale 07-27-2004 04:29 AM

/\/\ thx m8, but i think it looks fabulous, the first one especially. It's so new you guys don't understand the lines. Let it grow on you before bashin' away. It's fresh and curvier, far from the 90s squariness. Welcome to the new millenium. What would yall prefer, the 360 squared out like a 288 then?! C'mon... Aerodynamicly it mustav lost .05 cd :D

crazidude 07-30-2004 09:11 PM

It looks ok... not too sure about the head lights though.

neilo63 08-19-2004 07:17 AM

wow... turdfull excuse for a GT-R back to roots for nissan

DeMoN 08-19-2004 01:51 PM

I like how it looks, the only thing I dont like are the headlights. Other than that, its great.

dutchmasterflex 08-19-2004 01:59 PM

that sure is a pretty crazy concept... i really dont like the big grill piece.. much like the new audi's

ak1na 08-19-2004 09:59 PM

I hate the way that looks. It has lost the GTR appeal. :x

FordGTGuy 08-20-2004 01:58 AM

the one is the mag scan looks alot better. Ford GT looks good with curves because the newer one was designed after a woman. Is this designed after a Bullshitzu?

Daggernite 08-20-2004 02:38 AM

I think the prob with oldsnails pic, its the nasty wheel acrhes which resemble the RX-8, but the problem is for the people like me who followed every edition of the skyline suddenly find out it is no longer following in its original footsteps, and seems to be goin in the way of the 350z, and I think its ashame :(

FordGTGuy 08-20-2004 02:42 AM

the 350z got a face and ass lift to(Nizmo) is the 350z aposed t be top dog now or what?

Its starting to look that way, Skyline will always be top dog for me tho.

Sir_GT 08-20-2004 09:17 AM

It looks fantastic, wtf are you people on?

Its supposed to be released on the year 2007... that's almost a decade since the GT-R was released when? 1998? 1999? 2000 maybe?

Regardless, its been a long time coming, and you people STILL want it to look like it was from that era? Then by 2008, it will already look outdated if it were to be placed next to the cars that would be released by that time.

Geez, talk about grumpy old men...

oantob 08-20-2004 12:07 PM

You got a good point there Sir_GT

Daggernite 08-20-2004 01:10 PM

I see where your coming from sir_GT, it cudda bin abit more style from a R34 tho, I mean the R34 still does'nt look old or out dated when put against modern cars, but then again, I might just be a grumpy old man :P

Nik^XeN 08-20-2004 07:44 PM

I like this car, some of youdnt?? how come??

KaBlookie 08-20-2004 08:18 PM

gottacatchup you're right, that one looks sooo much better than the one posted up top...I've seen that pic a bunch of times, and each time i see it I think of the new trend towards crossovers and off-roadable on-roaders, and how it seems to have seeped into that thing...I really hope they come to their senses and build something that looks more like this most recent pic gottacatchup posted.

SilviaEvo 08-20-2004 08:49 PM

i hate new japanese cars they are usually horrible IMO especially the stuff Nissan has been dishing out

hemi_fan 08-21-2004 12:44 AM

BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! :x  :( :? :?: :!: :| :fist:

DeMoN 08-21-2004 01:04 AM

Watever man IMO 2007 = Nothing. Dont think this car will ever be made. Seems as a hobby done by someone.

Pokiou 08-24-2004 12:11 AM

now thats what happens when u give a stupid american the ability to design a car that was perfected by the caps.. they design it so no1 likes it !!! stupid american car designers ... tell 1 good designed american car ???

AlienDB7 08-24-2004 12:31 AM

The look alone worth at least extra 2000 pounds! No, not the value, I mean the weight.

Since Lotus can make a Lada good handling car, no doubt the new GTR will be good on the track. But given all the excess weight, it will need all the extra power to stay on top of the performance game.
