Minimum system requirements just to LOAD Doom 3.

• A 1.5-gigahertz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500.
• 384 megabytes of memory.
• Two gigabytes of hard drive space.
• An nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card or better; or an ATI Technologies 8500 or better.

Fleischmann 07-20-2004 11:51 AM

Dang...will my GeForce 2MX pull that ?? ;)

I've seen the screenshots and the game looks so photorealistic. I've also read qabout the technology behind it. The graphic designers have made models which have a decent amount of polygons, yet using advanced bump mapping have made them look really nice. The lighting in the game is a masterpiece is bonded into one process together with the geometry to make the engine more eficient. And also basically everything in the game can be damaged, pushed, hit over etc. The interaction with the enviroment is simply amazing.

Gotta invest in a good graphic card. Then I'm off on my killing spree

Minacious 07-20-2004 11:57 AM

Other than graphically, I think the game is going to suck. You never know though.

Xefe 07-20-2004 12:12 PM

Ive played the game (leaked alpha demo form e3) and the game looks simply awesome and game itself really sets a mood that with the most simple of things u get realy scared.
But the game also has a downside u need a really nice machine to run it, i have the minimum system requirements pc (athlon 1600,120gb@7200,geforce3) and i was getting 5 to 7 fps, max (looking at a dark corner) 20fps
PS:u can get the leaked demo of kazaa or limewire

First Person Shooters are short on plot/story and heavy on multiplayer action. I hope this replaces the CounterStrike/Ragnarok craze here.

TVR_Fan 07-20-2004 01:05 PM

Plus don't forgett about Quake 4 when they make one, as well as future games like UT2005/2006.

Which would use Unreal 3 Engine and another game called Stalker Shadow of Chernobyl.

5vz-fe 07-20-2004 01:13 PM

Holy crap...my machine is exactly the minimum requirement......I guess I am not playing this game then. The graphics does look very very nice tho.

RC45 07-20-2004 02:28 PM

Well - Doom and Quake have always required the most potent system available to be playable.

If it wasn't for Quake1/2/3 I would never have bought a Voodoo1/2/3 then Geforce series video cards over the last 8 years... ;)

Sachmo12345 07-20-2004 02:56 PM

i really need to get a new computer for these new games but no way i can make enough money

Fleischmann 07-20-2004 03:49 PM

On my setup I'll be watching a slide-show, not playing a game. I have only 256MB DDr RAM (266MHz), not to mention my shitty videocard.

However this game will be a very good benchmark. Can't wait for the first tests. And I wonder how it compares to the upcomin Half Life 2. Annd if ya wanna see some more cool graphics then check ut "Farcry"... simply awesome :D

Gimp 07-20-2004 09:17 PM

After playing a game like Farcry, DOOM3 is going to have to pull something out of it ass to compete with it game-play wise.

"I think the game is going to suck"

there has never been a game pass out of Id's doors that sucked
they wont screw up the doom series, its too great
from what i have played (alphas, etc)
and the reviews i have read
its simply badass awesome
and it will be, Id doesnt make bad games, their games set the standard
i cant wait till half life 2 also
im buying doom 3 when it comes out, the very day, i dont care if its 100 bucks

DTM8 07-21-2004 07:51 PM

Doom 1 was amazing when it first came out.

Ive read great reviews for Doom 3, but my computer simply isnt compatible for it. I still use the Voodoo 3000 card :?

TVR_Fan 07-24-2004 05:28 PM

What is everyones spec because I want to know, then I could think how well it will run on there PC.

I am ok for running the game I hope to get 30 frames if I am lucky, or maybe 25/20 frames per sec.

PaulGT2164 07-25-2004 02:07 PM

3Ghz HT p4
2 GB DDR333
120 GB + 80 GB + 40 GB HD
ATI All in Wonder 9800 PRO
Soundblaster Audigy
19" Phillips 109B monitor
Altec 5.1 surround sound speakers

it better run well.....i would hate to have an excuse to upgrade again :D

Gimp 07-26-2004 04:15 PM

Damn many of you have nice setups :| . Mine : 9800xt, 512 DDRAM, Amd xp 3000+, 2.16GHz, 40 gigsWestern Digi 7800rpm, 15'' LCD Phillips, and Creative 2.1 ( w0000 2.1 baby  ). I hope I can play it :? .

Silvia_Drift 07-28-2004 03:39 AM

P4 3.06
Intel Mobo
ATI all-in-wonder 9800pro
Samsung SyncMaster 763MB 17inch
Western Digital SE 80GB
Integrated Soundmax sound
Panasonic stereo hooked up for speakers

Just another stick of 512 ram and I think Doom 3 should run pretty good.
