i just got back from england where i bought Clarkson Shootout
im dying to watch it but of course i forgot the fact that it is PAL so i doesent work in my dvd player are there anyways that i could watch it??? *btw i got tons of pics of england. ill post them as soon as i can |
well you can watch it on your computer without any trouble at all otherwise you have to get a PAL DVD player and TV good luck with the later.
|
Im told that you can rip the DVD change the format to NTSC and burn it into dvd , is that right?
|
yeah but you have to get the proper software to convert it which you will probably have to pay for, I've tried free ones before and they always disapoint.
|
yeah I've done it with Dr. Divx...and it that works great...but yes you do have to pay for it
|
Hmmm.... get a a MULTIREGION Player or hack for your model
I live in the UK... PAL.... and play loads of NTSC discs on my PAL TV and multiregion DVD Player. i am not sure if a PAL dvd would play on an NTSC TV Set :? Here is a DVD Hack guide... using the remote to set your player's region from 1/2 to Region 0 http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks |
The problem dude is that while here most of our TV set can play both NTSC and PAL vids, we can just hack our DVD players (like I did of course). In the US their TV can't read the PAL signal even if the player can play it
|
^^^
I thought that may have been the problem.  That's shit then :? I suppose playing on your PC (maybe using a card with TV-Out) is the only viable solution :D |
or using one of those new 30" displays from Mac
|
^^^
Hmm... £2500  ... the Ultimate computer screen  |
Yes a PAL DVD can be played on an NTSC TV. "PAL" DVDs just has a slightly higher resolution, but it can still be played. Dont forget that its all MPEG 2 anyway.
One solution would be to get an xbox, chip it, and install a multi region DVD player in it. :D Second would be to watch on your TV through your computers TV-OUT. |

Also try getting a DVD hack from the site i posted above... the hacks only work on less expensive players, not Sony's etc... Maybe buy a DivX Player from amazon.com  |

check the manufacturers website: http://us.codejunkies.com/shop/product.asp?c=US&cr=USD&cs=$&r=0&l=1&ProdID=3 you have to understand that PAL and NTSC don't just go between eachother in the US you can't use PAL equipment together |

I am sure there are much better ways with better software but with the old software I know this is how I would do it.
Smart Ripper to rip the DVD into vobs DVD2AVI load the vobs into this and save as a d2v project. TMPEG load the d2v project into this and select the NTSC DVD template after encoding you should end up with an NTSC MPEG2 compatible file. Spruce Up (or any one of the many authoring programes) load your MPEG2 file into this and make some menu screens if you like. Burn to a DVD-R to make your NTSC shoot out DVD. I might give it a go later to see if it will work. If you have a DVD burner I could even upload the image file for you to burn your own disc directly without having to go through any of the above. |
Just as a note there is a frame rate difference between NTSC and PAL so the audio will need to be re-synced as well.
|
you want to go through all that though Jabba?
|
Well I do like a challenge..plus I have done NTSC to PAL before for people that didnt have a NTSC equipped TV....it doesnt take long on my PC now either.
|
that's true but are you still on 56k? that might pose a problem uploading the iso
|
Well I am sure that you noticed that I uploaded over 1 gig last night.
|
that's true didn't think about that since I don't have access anyway but then why are you still using that nick?
BTW does it have mod privileges aswell? |
Quote:
BTW - As lamboman you are 43 years old, yet as Jabba you are 33... so come on, which is it :P You don't have to tell me... a lot of 40+ people i konow don't like to disclose their age  (joking, i really do understand that some people may find this offensive... i am just fucking around :D ) |
I use this nick when I am on 56K and Jabba when I am at the office on ADSL.
|
^^ BUt what about the age thing :?:
Tell me to fuck off if you want... |
well I think Lamboman was supposed to be hidden at first.
|
The age thing was to test the birthday mod (you get a pop us message on your birthday) lamboman was also a female once...I guess it should have been lambowoman in that case.
|
^^^^
 I was only wondering :D |
Search for the prog DVD-Shrink... With that, you can shrink the dvd and burn it as a region free dvd... Go to www.digital-digest.com and there are also progz that make you able to watch every region on your computer...
|
It wasnt a region issue that was the problem...the problem was that the DVD is in PAL and the TV will only accept an NTSC signal.
|
Quite a number of DVD player nowadays can convert PAL signal to NTSC output. The two chinese players (APEX and AMV) I tried support that. My Apex isn't region unlocked but most newer ones can be hacked easily. Do some research online and grab one of those cheap *made in china* players. They play literally anything you throw at it, even mpg's on data cd.
