*** LOOKING FOR A NEW MODERATOR FOR THE F1 SECTION ***

Sadly we don't get to update the results in this section as quickly as we would like.

We are therefore looking for someone extremely dedicated to Formula One and at the very least a Formula One "Nut" or "Fanatic" better still a "Ferrari Formula One Fanatic" but this is not absolutely necessary.

Updating the results for both the qualifying and race as well as the drivers and constructors championships will be an absolute priority. News, Features and F1 Media will also be a must.

If you would like to be considered for the position then please add your name below as we will be running a poll to help decide who is the best person for the job.

Thanks

THe Admin Team

aww! i dont know alot about f1... too bad cause i would like to b a moderator but i guess illl wait for next time... :?

DMbaseball1604 07-07-2004 08:41 PM

I know he hasnt been here for a long time..but he seems to be very dedicated to F1 and knows a lot about it...

So I would like to propose sameerrao for the new F1 moderator..

I just dont know if he has done enough to become a moderator...I dont know its just a thought

he7lius 07-07-2004 09:08 PM

I love F1 and read the news about it everyday. :D
But i'm not sure i could be able to do this, but i certainly would love to.

There might be only one problem for me, and that is. i usually work on the Sundays. :(

EDIT: There might be another problem. I soppurt Mclaren, and Jabba i don't think u'll like it. :D

same here my knowledge is very little on that topic! ill pass on this too

Vansquish 07-07-2004 10:00 PM

Well, I'm a "nut" but I don't think I qualify as an F1 nut, so I don't think I qualify, I'm also not on here fast enough after the races or during Qualifying and Practice to post anything of worth.

Theres nothing wrong with a McLaren fan...hah. Just a problem with the car :P

Toronto 07-08-2004 02:47 AM

i know alot about f1,

i read about it everyday on about 5 websites, aswell
i am half german = loves shumi
plus i love senna
so really a vote for toronto is a vote for everyone :D

oscargarza88 07-08-2004 03:50 AM

^^
hahaha lol
i agree
u have my vote :D

astonmartinandy 07-08-2004 04:33 AM

Toronto would get my vote as well after that! I think you should deliver some irrealistic manifesto promises as well (just to sway the voters  )

Jabba 07-08-2004 04:34 AM

Thanks to everyone that offered to help out. I always thought the one person that would have been perfect for the Job was indeed Toronto but I wasnt sure if he wanted to take the job on or not and I didnt want to force it on him.

stracing 07-08-2004 04:37 AM

i'll do it! thats only if you don't mind having results posted like 2 hours later. thats the average delay telecast time over here. i like to watch the race before i jump onto the net.

and i definietely qualify as a ferrari fan, look at my die-cast collection and you know!

Jabba 07-08-2004 04:57 AM

Damn thats gonna be a difficult decision now...both Toronto and Stracing would get my vote.

mindgam3 07-08-2004 09:20 AM

I would love to do it... i could do f1 news as well as race reports if you wanted? i would definately consider myself an F1 fanatic, considering im about to start a course in motorsport engineering and will hopefully be working in F1 within the next 5-8 years or so. Although I understand that i am not very likely to be chosen as i havent been at JW for that long but i thought it would be worth the try anyway ;)

sameerrao 07-08-2004 10:53 AM

I would respectfully like to nominate myself for this post. I have been a rabid F1 fan since the magical 80s. The magic has not wore off since.

Why would you vote for me:
- I am pretty good at GP/F1 history (from the 1930s onward)
- As with most of the others nominated, I check F1 news everyday without a fail
- I have a few ideas on improving this section - make it more than just a space to discuss current rumours.

Why you may not vote for me:
- I will need some initial support from the veterans such as Jabba and TT to understand the technicals behind moderation
- The others nominated - Stracing and Toronto - are great choices too

Anyway whoever gets nominated, I will be glad to share my ideas with him/her to make this section more vibrant.

- Sameer

Jabba 07-08-2004 10:58 AM

That was a very well presented post...in particular I am indeed very interested in fresh ideas for the section.

I don't think more that one moderator for the section would make any sense but what about if you all had a month each...then we decide who should be the permanent moderator for the section ?

No.1 07-08-2004 11:05 AM

Nice idea Jabba :D

I would love to be moderator for F1, but my interest has waned recently :( , let's hope the British GP can revive my love for F1 and ferrari in particular :P

I think one moderator is more than enough.

Personally I would go with the vote system. It might cause too much chaos if everyone who is nominated rules for a month - too many changes proposed and might cause some wrangling later on ---> "my idea was better than yours ..."

To show that I intend to support the group whether I win or not, I am going open up another post with my ideas so far for improving the section. Let whoever wins use this ideas to the benefit of all.

I will contribute the same way whether I win or lose so it doesnt matter. I think the section would be in good hands one way or the other....

Jabba 07-08-2004 11:12 AM

Ok as I understand it the people that WOULD like to be considered for the job are as follows :

Ronin005, toronto, stracing ,mindgam3 and sameerrao

The first three with the highest votes 48 hours from now will all get a month each to run the section. Then we will run another vote to decide who gets the job permanently.

sikx5 07-08-2004 11:19 AM

dude go with sameerrao. He has incredible knowledge on f1, just read some of his posts, i dont know where he gets his information from. Very well informed and hes correct too. He knows his F1 for sure.

I was going to nominate him but hes already done it

mindgam3 07-08-2004 11:22 AM

Sounds good to me. Althought the chances of me gainig a place are slim, F1 is of great interest to me and i too have a few ideas for the forum that id like to put forward sometime that could possibly be considered.

For example:
 A more structured race review
 seperate timing tables for qualifying/race
 A more detailed constructors and drivers standings table
 A technical section for those interested on aspects such as aerodynamics, chassis, tyres and new cars etc

Jabba 07-08-2004 11:29 AM

Well I have tried to give everyone a fair chance regardless of their status and length of time on JW and the last time I checked you were winning

You get my vote for that technical section :D it would be really interesting. Hope you win

Jabba 07-08-2004 11:35 AM

If this idea works out we may use the same system to find a moderator for the ultimate section...a DEDICATED FERRARI section.

I am sure that 500 JWites will apply for the post

Who knows, Jean Todt and Luca DiMontezemolo might throw their hats in the ring too. I can see the Jabba response to their nominations - "Hmmm, they show a definite knowledge on Ferrari but have too few posts -- naah Reject. Next please."

Jabba 07-08-2004 12:01 PM

HAHHAHAHAH.....ROTFLMAO !!!!

oscargarza88 07-08-2004 12:13 PM

i think toronto ha always taken this site seriously and well he likes f1 do i think he will b a good moderator, im not sayin that other people wont b but i think toronto is best reagrdless if samerro may know a bit more that him...
and about the ferrari i would love to b te moderator but i bet there r more hardocre ferrari fans out there, so i think another person deserves it more than i do... :?

Toronto 07-08-2004 03:15 PM

well i just want to add that on sundays i have to be up early to go to work, as well as watch every race, so by the time i am out, i can post the news of who won and loss :D

Things i would do...
clean up the forums (i don't want to see 40+ stickeys in the forum by the end of the season)
F1 media - videos/scans (much like in St. angers forum)
News Thread - Lastest news posted
and much more...

ps: am i allowed to vote for myslef ?

Jabba 07-08-2004 05:59 PM

Yes you are indeed allowed to vote for yourself...I am sure everyone else did

Toronto 07-08-2004 07:46 PM

rather sad, such a big forum and only 16 vote :(

look like when bernie said the sport is loosing fans he was right

he7lius 07-08-2004 08:17 PM

As a huge fan of F1 I hope this section will be one of the best and most exciting in JW.
Kind of the opposite from what has been F1 in the last few years. :D

And i think everyone is welcone to help the new Moderator for this section. :D

sameerrao 07-08-2004 10:33 PM

A positive from all this moderating shit is that there is frequent activity/view in this section. Usually the F1 form goes on a bit of lull between races.... :D

PATo355 07-08-2004 11:01 PM

Im going for toronto since is the one i know the most .... but sameerrao is my 2nd choice

That means editing topics and stuff like that ? In a ferrari dedicated section , maybe we need 2 for that section , the busiest ever

SPAD 07-08-2004 11:38 PM

Sounds like a plan. This section is so much better without all the stickys :P

That is only half of it....what we are looking for also is new media. News, Pictures, Sounds, Videos look at the sections run by A007APL and St-Anger for some good examples.

TopGearNL 07-10-2004 03:04 PM

I would like to do it myself, but since Im am only 16 Im still updating my knowledge, I would like to see Sameerao do it, always good comments with facts :) :!:

Toronto 07-10-2004 06:31 PM

jabba when do the top 3 start working ?

Fleischmann 07-10-2004 06:43 PM

Make us proud Toronto, make us proud :D You get my vote.

Jabba 07-10-2004 06:48 PM

I was meant to announce the winners earlier but I have been working hard on the Silverstone Qualifying and the Top Gear special that was on tonight (both about to be uploaded)

Here are the results

3rd. mindgam3 (4 votes)

2nd. sameerrao (8votes)

1st. toronto (10 votes)

Toronto as you won with 10 votes you can decide if you want to do the first month as the moderator.

Well done to everyone else that took part.

Huh??? I thought it was Jabba who decided the winner. Are you a Jabba incognito?

I want Toronto to be the moderator period (and not just for the next month). He is a good guy and deserves it. Also he has a commanding vote behind him. So thats my $0.02.

TT 07-10-2004 07:11 PM

It's just a dummy account used not to lose the "lights" for new posts ;) yes it's Jabba

TT 07-11-2004 04:58 AM

Actually that account was created during the first days of JW, to do some testings with a non-admin member and something like that :)
