Can't buy any of them cars over here. Pay the price in Germany, then a bit more to get it taxed.

Here in brazil there's a pretty basic equation for cars..especially the ones we all like (ferrari, porsche, bmw etc...)

1. Take the price in dollars, and double it...
2. Convert this price into the currency here (real) by x' it by 3.16(the present value of the dollar in reais)
3. add tax and shipping rates(could get to about 50 000 reais, depends a lot on the car) and you roughly have a price of a good car here in brazil..

For example, Lambo Gallardo, 1, 010, 000 reais roughly (i can't remember properly)

Mini cooper S - 53,000 US$...about 160,000 reais, the price of a '96 carrera 2

shocking isn't it...that's because i didnt mention the few people who try to bring classic cars from england...(instead of X'ing by 3, X by 5...)

..and please also throw into the mix the average starting salary for a junior, mid and senior worker - as well as housing rent and purchase - and some bare essentials as well, say gasoline, bread, milk and beer... :P

I have done this math so many times (both before and after moving to the USA) and it is astounding just how cheap and easy it is to live in the USA.

And remember, we are talking basic survival here - you finish school, and enter the world without parental money and you are not about to live in Hollywood, or Monaco or Mid-town Manhattan etc.

Just a regular working stiff trying to stay alive.

BTW the cooper is very expensive there , here its only 35 thousand dollars , and YOU guys in brazil make the ENGINE !!! that is crazy , maybe cuz of the production of cars in brazil they try to protect the national cars .

An an entry level car , like daewoo Tico , Hyunday Gets cost 5500 dollars , a 206 and fiesta 8500 dollars , a golf starting from 16000 dollars , a GCherokee 50000 dollars , a Porsche 911 C2 , 110000 dollars .

It would have been easier if you chose some common cars as it's not easy to find correct list price for supercars..

Judging by a MAY magazine, a manual model costs about R$69k, made in Brazil..

Also, I forgot to mention the famous bulletproof equation...
Here in Brazil, especially in Sao Paulo where I live, there is a HUGE amount of bulletproof cars...(SP has the biggest amount of bulletproof cars in the streets, in the whole world)
Most imported cars are Bulletproof, and they cost about 150% of the original price (mentionned in previous post) plus, the Insurance is like 10 per cent of 0KM value..or more I think...and average wages in Brazil is about 400 reais...
to become 1% of the brazilian citizens (the elite) you have to get about 1200 reais a month...that is 2% of the whole population 169 million ppl...so, to afford a simple BMW 540i (my father has one) without being bullet proof, or paying insurance..you have to be in the 20% of that 1%...pretty amazing huh...

The most basic 745i would be about 75 ,000 USD [about 61,000 euro] ( accoring to bmw.ca) but you can easily increase it to 85 USD with cool options

Now the 760Li again most basic runs at 125,000 USD [around 103,000 euro] ( bmw.ca)
