i know many of you will like this.. but i dont.. i dont see why people put so much money in such an ugly thing...

Sachmo12345 05-09-2004 05:52 PM

This car was on the tv show Rides

Drive4Ever 05-09-2004 08:39 PM

look at those brakes, they are huge, well when u have 1000bhp, u will need them

dons5 05-09-2004 09:15 PM

wow, thats crazy 1000 hp! it looks too much like one of those spanish guys cars that think there cool because they're bouncing when the drive

Because anyone with that kind of money can buy a Porsche or any other supercar, but this is one of a kind. Unique and completely different. Sure its not practical or normal but its creative. This, IMO, is what hot rodding is all about. One will always be able to buy a car from the factory, but to do something like this takes creativity and craftsmenship.

ahmedgiyab 05-10-2004 06:50 AM

SNOOP DOGG!!!!!!!!!!

mit5005 05-10-2004 10:56 AM

Yea I saw that car on "Rides." That is one kick-ass engine. I wonder if they have ever raced it. Oh and about your question Erez...

..First off, the owner probably doesn't think it is ugly. It is all about personal taste and I think it looks good. And I guess when you have the money, you can do something like this many times over.

teto 05-10-2004 02:00 PM

increible....huge brakes....it must handle good or not ....what did they say on Rides??

I can't agree more with novass, you are right about the creativity and craftsmenship.. The car is one of a kind and just look at it.. It looks good. Even if it had 200HP it still looks good. I really like the paint job on it.

number77 05-10-2004 05:06 PM

hahah, yea i've seen it in CHP, nice car. but its de-tuned(something you don't see in imports). thats right, it has more potential, but whats a 100 more hp when you got that much anyways

toprpm 05-11-2004 04:18 AM

as i can see from the engine , the car would have too much lag of turbos, also the maineful is next to the head of the valves and cames which will case casket over heat . .. this car made for show as EVo said .. i would love buying it , but not race with it,

Chingachgook 05-11-2004 05:26 AM

Incredible, outside it doesn't seems so powerful, but 1000bhp, insane

Im sure this car experiances some turbo lag, but it is built off a 406ci small block, so even before the turbos kick in this thing is already making some serious power. If you go to the chicayne.com website, there is quite an extensive amount of info on how the engine was built.

Also, this car was built by Troy Trepanier, who has said many times over that he does NOT build strictly show cars. Granted this isnt a daily driver but you can bet that it does get driven.

TT 05-11-2004 08:08 AM

I don't really care about the 1000 hp, but the lines of that car are simply perfect :D

sau_mathur 05-11-2004 10:51 AM

Yeah...1000hp...good stuff...cant use it on the eeveryday road though..can u!!??

Good engineering though..dont get me wrong..!!! amazing what us humans can do

gogo4ever 05-11-2004 11:11 AM

Yeah guys... This car is really good. I don't think it is ugly. The owner done very good job. From paint, to engine, wheels to the brakes... An excellent look and performance... I see it driven in the track( at the TV show )... Believe me, it is not built only for show

Erez 05-12-2004 12:56 AM

well.. still dont like.. and never will.. he should have gotten a 996 and TechArt it.. would be way better.. its a pimp car.. looks VERY bad.. shit.. a vette would be much better... thats just weird... sorry.. :?

But that defeats the purpose entirely. Anyone (if you have the money obviously) could buy a 996 and Techart it, but there is practically no other car in the world that is like this one. The owner of this car is Glen Grozich, owner of Billet Specialties and I wouldnt be surprised if he has a Porsche or two in his fleet.

Erez 05-12-2004 04:19 AM

then why not do a vetter? a 50's-70's vette? would be much better! this is just not cool!

Because the idea is a slab-sided early 60's look.. -- which is what he did...

Erez 05-12-2004 04:29 AM

well.. that just not cool :P if i were walking down the street and saw that.. i wouldn't go 'damn what a cool ride' i would go 'pfff.. what an ass wasted his money on that!' but i can see now that thats just me

dons5 05-12-2004 10:38 PM

why are u comparing a vette and a porsche to this, ur comment was so stupid i dont even know what to say lol

Erez 05-13-2004 09:37 AM

i'm not comparing.. i'm just saying this is a waste of money.. and anything else would be better...

dons5 05-13-2004 07:29 PM

not really thats like sayin a Challenge Stradale is a waste of money because the 911gt3 rs or whatever its called is almost as fast track wise, well its not only performance that matters, its looks, feel of the car the engine, the way it makes the horsepower, the sound, where it was made, exclusitivity everything, and thats all oppinionated besides the track numbers

he does have other cars duh. This one is beautiful in its own way, maybe you just can't see it. He also has a Hot Rod 32 Ford roadster style with 800HP and AWD and pulls over 1G on the skidpad lol. the Chicayne is rumored to be able to pull from 80-140 in 2 sec, now that is some serious power.

SilverPhoenix 05-13-2004 11:10 PM

oh yeah this is up there with IMO the #1 hotrod the Chip Foose GrandMaster

Erez 05-13-2004 11:18 PM

@dons5.. yeah i agree.. but i just see nothing nice in this car..

@SilverPhoenix... i'm sure he owns other cars.. i guess the beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.. ..and you can edit you post if you need to fix it after a sec.. ;)

dons5 05-14-2004 04:56 AM

ya im not into those cars either, those lowrider spanish lookin cars ahah, i dont like them, but i respect them because everyon has there own taste, but i hate turbos on any car, na is the best, using turbo or supercharger or especially nos is like boxing without a glove, its cheap and anyone can do it, but can u do it without using the turbo,sc,nos

TVR_Fan 05-14-2004 09:58 PM

Nice engine just think about siting in this, when it is going at full pace yum.

Like I said he also has an 800HP NA 32 ford style roadster with AWD. THe Chicayne could have been NA with 1400HP but wouldn't really be livable, the turbos allow him to drive it normaly on the street but when that pedal goes down all Hell breaks loose.

pagani 05-15-2004 12:29 PM

The perfect hot rot.
I love it nice styling and engine.
How fast is it ??
:P

dons5 05-15-2004 03:20 PM

Not always. Depends on what your gonna do with the car. Turbos and S/C have a lot of benefits that an NA engine couldnt touch. You cant tell me you dont like power adders. If every car was setup the same it would get boring.

Artur Filho 05-15-2004 06:44 PM

I always prefer new cars, sport machines and clean lines BUT THIS MONSTER IS DELIGHTFUL !!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!

dons5 05-16-2004 05:18 PM

How is the use of a turbo cheap? Everyone has the ability to use them and it takes just as much engineering, if not more, to make them work properly.

gogo4ever 05-19-2004 07:15 AM

Turbo is cheap?!
Turbo is not just any part and you attach to your engine dons5... It need lots of engineering and lots of additional parts for proper use. An intercooler, the gauges, additional part such as titanium retainers, fuel regulator...etc.

Typical american car.... lots of grunt... but if it reaches a corner... it's like a school bus with a jet plane... with that enormous size!!
And getting out of the corner, with 1000bhp in that... must be someting very interesting.
I think it has the power.. but only to be used on a drag strip, and a good car should do better that that!

MINI - Bends the Rules, and Rules the Bends!

  ahhh, again, someone is missing the point. Its not like these cars are built to go racing with. These cars are built for fun and for an artistic and creative purpose. Its not like Michelangelo sculpted David to play football, he did it for arts sake.

BTW - I would like to see what your Mini could do against this at the track  And before you ask, no im not talkin shit about the Mini, in fact I would love to own an original at some point. Ill post the rest of this article later

I like the old school body with those big rims!!!SWEET!

crazidude 05-21-2004 02:10 AM

For some reason the paint job alone looks like its worth more than anything I could afford. That engine bay also looks sweet. It's so clean looking.

dons5 05-21-2004 06:12 PM

ya and the only reason why Ferrari used turbo's on F40 and 288 was cause that was durin the turbo era in F1
