 Holy horsepower that is faster than F1, it almost looks fake or something!!! damn

TopGearNL 05-24-2006 09:06 AM

It must have an even better traction control system then the Renault F1, Holy sh*t that is - fast -

SPEEDKILLAR 05-24-2006 09:17 AM

Not bad.

cooperluke 05-24-2006 09:52 AM

It has 4wd!

dutchmasterflex 05-24-2006 09:53 AM

Holy shit.

That thing isnt even a car anymore.. it resembles a mag-lev train taking off or somethin..

absolutely nuts.. 4 tons from 0 to 60 in 2 seconds.. fuckin ridiculous..

cooperluke 05-24-2006 09:53 AM

Wonder if anyone ever did a drag race of it against race cars!!?? :D

mazmazmaz1 05-24-2006 09:59 AM

OMG thats crazy.

Kiran 05-24-2006 10:02 AM

that's indeed crazy, it actually looks a bit fake to be honest.

I could be wrong, but just consider the option.

dutchmasterflex 05-24-2006 10:30 AM

king of supercars that go...in a straight line!

What was this cars time on the 'Ring? Did it even complete a whole lap with out overheating and shutting down?

Thought it was 2.5 ? and has this been officially tested yet?

Would that be faster than F1 and a bike?

yg60m 05-24-2006 10:48 AM

 OMG !! I didn't think it was THAT fast :D Is there a way to save this video ??? This is a keeper  Thanks Mopsdrops

htfaber 05-24-2006 12:03 PM

lol, I think you got the point here  I am not sure it achieves to finish a flying lap on the Nurb. without overheating ... but I love it anyway and this video .... Amazing, I wonder if it really is at normal speed not fast forward

Svensson 05-24-2006 12:51 PM

That car is just amazingly fast!! It almost seems like the vid's been speeded up

the final production Veyron has not been to the Ring.....but the priority of this car is not to attend track day events and compete in AutoX.

it is to reign as THE premium car in the world, bar none....and that's exactly what it is doing these days.

No matter what you say, its still a performance car with the figures they wanted this car to do.

I do get the idea of this car.. It's just that if it can't do one single lap of the 'Ring with out melting its brakes or overheating then whats the point if they spent so much money trying to make this car reliable..

If you had this car you would want to drive it like a complete mad man (like on a track) and not pussy footing around town..

Vansquish 05-24-2006 01:41 PM

Damn...that's pretty freakin' impressive...now if Bugatti could only have done it in a car that didn't weigh so damned much...

RAMMIUS 05-24-2006 02:05 PM

Quote:

it can beat an F1 car off the line
in the best scenario , it`s lucky if can hold up with the F1 up to 100km/h and then it`s bye bye Veyron

Vansquish 05-24-2006 02:12 PM

^^ and then about 150km/h after that point, the Veyron would start catching up again...depending on the amount of wing that the F1 car was running.

RAMMIUS 05-24-2006 02:21 PM

^^^yup aero settings , gear ratio and so on , but you can go 400+ km/h in an F1 car , without the rear wing  , keeping the front spoiler and the diffuser and having much more downforce then Veyron has at any given speed

And I wouldn`t be so sure that the Veyron will ever catch up

SPEED_DEMON82 05-24-2006 02:28 PM

Holy smokes!!!

antonioledesma 05-24-2006 02:44 PM

the car is fucking fast... or the first 2 seconds the video was fast-forwarded

momodels 05-24-2006 04:41 PM

That´s deadly fast

Z3uS 05-24-2006 07:01 PM

Yeah thats fast!

pitfield 05-24-2006 07:53 PM

not true...the Veyron has a higher top speed than an F1 car. bye bye F1!

Only because of gearing - if the F1 car was geared NOT for a track it would be able to outgun the Vagrant.

The same is true for Top Fuel dragsters that get taken to the Salt Lakes.. :)

nthfinity 05-24-2006 08:12 PM

^^^^^^
only part of the story, RC

the F1 car has termendous aerodynamic downforce, and even under extreme low DF conditions, 400 kph is still incredibly difficult to reach... however, and F1 engine + a slippery shape would equate to much more then 400 kph.

i believe BAR set up thier V10 car to hit 400 at bonaville last fall

RC45 05-24-2006 08:16 PM

Well - the aero part of the equation goes without saying - its the gearing that is the killer ;)

And come to think of it, for 1 million dollars that little drag start is not impressive at all.

What are the rest of the specs of this over weight over priced lump of doodoo?

It is about as useful as a diamond encrusted rolex - in otherwords pointless - :)

Schwalbe 05-25-2006 01:54 AM

This is incredibly fast, but some of us already knew this is the king of the supercars, this is just cool to see another proof. http://www.rs6.com/smilies/nutchy.gif

jorge 05-25-2006 02:03 AM

almost unbelievable :o

Lola-Ford Cosworth Champ Car
Speed at 1 mile: 203.3 mph — 3rd
Time to 1 mile: 24.2 sec — 1st

Gentilozzi is worried that his Lola isn't very aerodynamic, that its exposed wheels and large wings, together with the downforce-producing underbody, will create a car that hits an aerodynamic brick wall that other sleeker cars will slice through and reach a higher top speed in the mile. He's right, that happens. But no car in this test gets through the mile as quickly as the DHL-sponsored Lola, whose suspension and gearing are tailored for the Portland race the following weekend.

Following a couple of disappointing runs in which ex-Formula 1 driver Timo Glock of Germany says he can actually feel the drag slowing the car down, the DHL Lola is prepped to go out again, this time with the Ford Cosworth engine now having "Power 2 Pass" engaged, which gives the 2.65-liter turbo V-8 an extra 300 revs (to 12,300) and a half psi of additional boost, which bumps the output to 800 bhp. The power increase, together with a rear wing reduced to just one small element, the brake cooling ducts taped off and the optional stickier Bridgestone slicks, makes for a much better car in the mile. Following some wild tire-warming burnouts, the Lola blisters through the mile in 24.2 sec., 1.4 sec. ahead of the next quickest car, the Hennessey Viper. That's a long distance at 203.3 mph.

Two other amazing stats: The Champ Car hits 150 mph in only 8.6 sec., and averages nearly 150 mph for the whole mile. If another car hits the starting line already at that speed and keeps it there, the Champ Car, from a standing start, will catch it by the end of the mile! Also, Rocketsports' own data show that when Glock lets off the throttle after the run, the Lola experiences nearly 1g of deceleration, close to the force a typical production car reaches in panic braking. Just imagine what a Champ Car could do given better aero....

that is with out changing the settings on the car.

golfiste 05-25-2006 11:27 AM

it is fake ,look carefully :|

TNT 05-25-2006 11:35 AM

^^^ and how do you figure that?

RC45 05-25-2006 11:42 AM

So what is the 1/4 mile time for the car? And not some calculated claim - a measurment taken by rolling the car up to a set of timing lights and hitting the go-pedal.

0-100km in 3s, 0-200km in 8s is really not that impressive for a car specifically built to accelerate and run top speed.

Remember, other cars costing way less and build to go fast, accelerate stop and turn are right behind this over price hunk of junk :)

Think about it - its 4wd, purpose built to accelerate and costs a million bucks - shouldn't it somehow be much much quicker?

;)

I mean it can't even hang with a frealing Lotus around corners :)

nthfinity 05-25-2006 12:16 PM

this months Automobile Magazine did the worst review i have ever read EVER... and it happened to be of the Bugatti Veyron "coast to coast" if you call it that... it was from one side of Florida to teh other... whoopty doooo.

no testing of accelleration potential, no hard acclleration by the Jurnalist, no testing its turning capabilities, and totally shitty pictures (boo to Tom Salt)

the reason I think it was soooooo terrible? Affermitive action... a woman was the reviewer.

not even worth the read, or looking at pictures.

oh, and when they were thinking of putting down some numbers for the Veyron... a computer glitch caused the car not to do a hard launch, not unlike the video in question...
