Personal pictures? :)

Yes. My own! I spent about 2 hours in Piper's garage!
It was an amazing day. A 917 has an awesome sound. Not at all like a normal 6cylinder boxer. The Ferrari was also very distinctive. Unfortunately both the Ferrari and the Porsche was beaten on the track. But the track is really too tiny for the Porsche! |

There are about 200 photos in total. I swear I took about 50 of the 917 alone! |
Nice spread.
Zwartkops hasn't yet been renamed to "Umkhonto we Sizwe Speedway" ;) hehe |

I think I even have a racing 'vette for you somewhere in the shots. Some Mustangs and a Z/28. No real GT40's or Cobras this year. :( |
Fantastic pics. The 250 & 275 next to each other are amazing!!!
And it's not just those, the yellow Miura pics are superb as well. Oh and nice car btw: it's 964 isn't it? |

I am putting together a "virtual stable" of all the P3's and P4's I can for Forza Motorsport, and I figured you might be a good source of some images - perhaps Mr Piper has some of his heyday. So far I have had to resort to these types of pictures of slot cars - but am hoping some of the Tifosi in South Africa might have more images. I have a couple of green Piper P3/P4 skins in the works - and a number of others - but am always looking for more inspiration. http://www.getslotted.co.uk/temp/Ima...r11r_large.jpg At the moment, I am looking for a better /close up detail image of the Sabena sponsor decal from the rear flank of the 1967 Daytona #33 car. I have searched/googled and come across similar models to the one pictured, but no decent side view to allow for undistorted image. Here the WIP of the detailed 330P3/P4 412 skins for Forza. http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/184...25hi9ic.th.jpg http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/340...24hi5of.th.jpg http://img70.imageshack.us/img70/412...33hi7ip.th.jpg Sorry for hijacking your thread.. ;) |
Nice pics there .. the 917 looks bitchin
|
Very impressive machinery there! I love the Piper cars and the Astons as well.
While I was there, I took a look at the stunning pictures of your European adventure in the 275 GTB/4 again. Man, that's heaven. I wasn't even there, and yet it gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. I hadn't seen that picture before in which the sunlight hits the car in the cargo bay of the plane. That's pure poetry. |
Pitty the rain washed the races out as I was just starting to enjoy the day. Good pics none the less.

I left when I realised they had covered up everything and Franz's 956 went back to the pits, so no more serious GT racing. But it was a most enjoyable day nonetheless. The rain just interfered when I was starting to walk around the car park hunting for rarities. :(. |

Hopefully will have all the Zwartkops up by tomorrow and then I will eventually get all the rest up. Nope. Its a 1980 911. The 964 shape is 1989 to 1993. The 964's are easily recognisable by the big front bumbers. |

I do not have any P3/4 photos myself, but I have a source of a huge amount of Ferrari material. My friend with the 275. 8) I am also going to the Le Mans Classic in July, so am likely to get some P3/4's there. If you give me a full list of what you need I can try to find a few in books. I also have another friend who has a huge amount of images from the old Kyalami 9 hour races. Many shots of the Ferrari 312 pb etc. There may be some p3/4 and even 250LM in there. He will be giving me a cd full of scans in a week or 2. |
Dude, if you have time, I wouldn't mind the first picture in high-res (for the next photo contest too ;))
|
Awesome pics!!! Looks like a lot of fun. I love that Gulf 956 :D
|
Something interesting I noticed.
If you look carefully you can spot the number 3 on the Lola T70 in the Piper Garage. It is the original T70... I happened to run across this article... http://www.newswheel.com/newswheel/s...t70-reborn.htm 8) |
The 917 is hot. Any pics of the T33?
|
Any side/rear shots of the Gulf 956?
|

Alfa T33 is in Zwartkops 2006 Various GT. Enjoy! |

2 More shots in an old gallery with the car's original livery here That car is in South Africa and I will see it relatively often on Porsche Club Days, so I will concentrate on taking a wider range of pictures in the future. He also bought a Kraftwerkz 917 replica, which was painted in Gulf colours. Unfortunately the car may have blown an engine in practise for Zwartkops, so it wasn't there on saturday. |
Thanks a lot - my library of reference material is growing nicely :)
|
its not uncommon to take original 956/962 that werent as successful in the racing world, and change the livery to suite the new owner. the owner of that car did the right thing, and chose a great set of crayolas ;) :D
yes, i love 956/962's..... a whole fargin lot :) |

damn, i definately need to pick up a copy of Forza sometime... and another xbox? the 965??? surely you dont mean the 964 Turbo 2? (known as model 965) but rather whichever of the 2 race cars, combined livery from 956's and 962's (also, the original IMSA 962's had some slightly differing body work due to engine configuration... you may have some help from this site if you havent used it already... http://962.com/ |
^^ 956 ;)
In Momo, Miller, Coke, Lowenbrau, Rothmans, Gulf and bunch of other odds and ends.. :) |

some of my personal favorites Joest 956-104 (red/white/blue) http://962.com/registry/956_962/956-104/index.htm 956-106 (Brun Jagermeister) 962-008 (PAG Shell) http://962.com/registry/956_962/962-008/index.htm 962c-111 (nova engineering [black livery!] (wins came with lemans low d/f config) http://962.com/registry/956_962/962C-111/index.htm 962c-133 (converted to Dauer 962 in 2001... [Dauer 008] a real road car... amazing!)--- mabey best looking 962 ever if it werent for the yellow striping ;) http://962.com/registry/956_962/962-133/index.htm 962c-173 (Dauer with Shell Livery) http://962.com/registry/956_962/962-173/index.htm bah... so many that are simply awsome :) |
^^ This calls for a real JW Forza "Class Race Series" - I know I tried with the custom F355's a year or 2 ago, and that didn't take off - but if we all run custom 956/962's - that's got to appeal to someone ;)
It is afterall just for fun :P |
^^^^^
definately, it appeals to me... just let me pick up Forza sometime... soon i think ;) although, i think you'll hand me my ass in a bag... but i think i'd beat you in GT4. the costom 355's looked flat out amazing... but, well... not having the game ruins that :? |

But understandable, I do the same query thing often enough myself to make sure I understand correctly. Basic communication skill. I just forget to explain myself sometimes when I'm in a rush. |
My bad all. I just wanted to clarify for those that aren't so informed about the Porsche heritage of motors.
By the way I not a German but if i can fit in as one living here than I'm all for it! |
Wow those pictures are great, especially the 917, 956 and the 935 Porsche Martini replica. :good:
Thanks mate ! :D |
Update!
The Cape Town event has come and gone and I found a guy that took a good range of shots. He photographed a much wider range than I did... RC45 if you wanted more views of the Gulf-coloured 956, it's here. Seems the CT event had bettter weather! Shots of the Cape Town event. |
