1988 Pontiac Fiero GT
http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/1354/prooffh5.th.jpg
Here she is. My second Fiero GT. This one is an 88. I still have the Scion for long trips and work of course, this is my project car. Shes pretty beat up cosmetically, but that should be fixed within a short time. She runs fantastic! http://img374.imageshack.us/img374/6...viewoo0.th.jpg http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/1...0002oc6.th.jpg http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/3...5705fe1.th.jpg http://img257.imageshack.us/img257/1...7343ah9.th.jpg My goal is to have her looking something like this by the end of the year. http://www.fierodriver.com/fiero_images01/buff2.jpg |
Nice, she looks good! How's the engine/transmission?
|
Everything is in great working order. We just fitted a new exhaust system with much classier looking chrome tips. I also rep[ainted the engine vents and tried to touch up the warn out tailight lenses. I did it too fast so there are some flaws but its an easy fix.
http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/3...int2wi1.th.jpg She looks really good wet, I cant wait to get her painted. http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/2533/wet1qb1.th.jpg http://img405.imageshack.us/img405/6648/wet2ts5.th.jpg |
Congrats on your second Fiero! Hope you have many fun/safe miles with her.
One of my friends back home recently bought himself a Fiero as well, so I'm pretty excited to get a ride in it once I go back in about a month. |
|
Very nice sound :good:
|
Always a cool car. Now very rare.
|
The front resembles a 355! :D
|
Whats the difference with your yellow onw?..
Congrats, and many safe km I wish you man. |
I like it and fortunatly you didn't transform it in a Ferrari

My new car is the 88, it came with all the best stuff, an all new Fiero suspension (the previous models shared a chevette suspension) better brake system, 5spd manual, and better reliability. My new car its pretty much totally stock except I took the wing off and we put a new exhaust system on it. You can find out more about the Fiero at http://www.myspace.com/fierofoto The page was huge and had a lot of friends, but was removed by myspace because one person complained about copyright infringment so this is the new and improved site. Alot of people like to criticize the Fiero yet know nothing about it so I decided to make a little quiz for anyone who likes to talk smack. Take this quiz first. http://www.quizyourfriends.com/quizp...163410-917267& |
Very beautiful car indeed, it sounds awesome, and its a short car (as I like them); however, Ill appreciate a lot if I get its technical characteristics, its downsides, its lenght, if your engine has been tunned, and so on; since we dont have any reference at all about this car in Europe, thanks on advance

Here are some numbers for you.

The basics.. Rwd mid engined car. v6 or 4 cylinder. 4 cylinders use to catch on fire.. V6 was capable in an mr2 type of way. The big thing about these cars and the reason they are all made into ferrari kits.. is they are one of the only cars with a frame structure entirely independent from the body. They could remove the body and you could drive the car and see little to no change in rigidity.

She just came home from the paint shop. They didnt do a very good job but then again I didnt pay much. Still looks good in pictures! And I have new quarter windows on the way.

Bump.
I installed the new quarter windows myself today. They need some touching up but otherwise they look great!. The car is finished for now until I can save up some more for new wheels, tires, suspension, and brakes http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/2...dowswv9.th.jpg http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/3825/toysgt7.th.jpg http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/3137/rear1ni7.th.jpg |
nice project. i love the looks of the fiero. Great pics too. :D :D
It's a shame people use theses cars to make pitiful Ferrari replicas :| :| |
Looking good..even with the Maaco paint job. Hard to believe that it's almost 20 years old, this definitely makes for a great project car.

I had to jump through many hoops to get this thing up to speed and registered |
So, what is that building that you parked next you? It makes for some interesting scenery for sure.
Also, I checked out your video that you posted a while back. I didn't know a Fiero could sound that nice. |
Its called "Lick Observatory" on top of Mount Hamilton. You can see it from pretty much anywhere in the south San Francisco Bay. Many major discoveries in astronomy have been made there. They say on a clear day you can see famous "Half Dome" in Yosemite from there.
Here is a great video on it http://www.openroad.tv/video.php?vid=84 |
I really do like that car. No company (In the US) makes a small RWD car like that anymore. :crying:

It's not like they designed the MR2 and Fiero to be some sort of 80's Elises. Just small, affordable sporting cars and the Solstice and the Sky are just that. |

sorry...:) |

Money's the big issue, though. Otherwise, I'm sure everyone would do it. Even the Solstice and the Sky are still a bit too much for young people to own. Then again, why bother when you can buy a Mustang? Getting back to the topic, I'm really growing warm to the Fieros. This red one looks very nice. I'd normally hate useless touches such as the glass filled buttresses, but it makes the car look shapely. *I suppose that's the only way to have buttresses since it'd be impossible to see out of the car. |

GM just has issues in general. (Like their huge loss over 2007). That is why Toyota could do it right with a Cheap Lightweight RWD car. Keep the price around 20K. Could be a simple non-turbo with around 150HP. I do love the tC btw, convinced my ex-girlfriend to buy one. As for the Stang. I owned two of them, they are big and heavy. |
Small rwd coupe for 20k with 150+ hp . . . ok, how's 177 sound? Then you've got the GM Sol/Sky and let GM deal with their financial issues. The warranty is dang good to.
Mustangs are heavy compared to such cars. I'm kind of hoping the generation after the next generation (2010 refresh) goes back to the fox body proportions. The rolled '89 Mustang GT I just got seems to be a lot of fun despite it's anemic 225 hp. Of course, it still has 300 pound-feet of torque pushing no more than 3100 pounds. |

Oh, and GM didn't really lose $38 billion last year. It's just some crazy corporate law that made GM report all their net losses over the years all at once. Quote:

Tis a sad day in my life. Im saying goodbye to my second Fiero today. Im finally moving out of the parents house again and Im in a bit of nasty credit card debt that I need to sell the car to get out of. That and its a small apartment so Id have nowhere to park it. At least Im saving money on insurance each month. I took a few last pictures as I wait for the buyer to show up.
