How many GT3 RS's are built?

I've a question: how many GT3 RS's did Porsche exactly built?

Cause, when they released the car to the public, the press folder stated Porsche had the intention to only build 200 GT3 RS's. But the car was/is a huge success. So did Porsche only made 200 of them? Does anybody has an idea?

mindgam3 10-02-2004 04:24 PM

not sure, but i think it was a full production car, i.e they built as many as there were demand for

T-Bird 10-02-2004 05:06 PM

I don't think the RS was a ful production car but the GT3 was and you could get all the options to make it an RS but I thought the official RS was a lower production number car.

TT 10-02-2004 05:19 PM

Yes I also think it was born as a limited production idea, but not like say an F50 or Enzo ;) I think they were and are ready to adapt the production to the request.. and considering how many GT3 RS are always at trackdays and meetings, I doubt it will be a VERY limited production :D

Ford Capri 2.8i 10-02-2004 08:26 PM

Ive no clue, once its not strange that a brand launches a limited edition of a certain model, and due to the bigger request on the market than expected, the brand decided to increase the number of units of that model to be produced.....although its not a supercar, firstly the Renault Clio Williams was expected to be produced 5000 of them (the minimum number of cars required in order to be homologated a model as a group A)....and the end of the day the number of produced car did increase quite enormously....we had a similar case with the Lancia Deltona or Lancia Delta Integrale EVO from the end of 91.

Idd, on a bigger trackday you see loads of GT3 RS. So I can't imagine they only produced 200 of them. But the the car isn't listed any more on the official Porsche websites and you can only find the figure '200' in the press releases of Porsche.

DMbaseball1604 10-03-2004 11:42 PM

I would imagine that 200 is right..i did read that in more than two places ...and when you think about it none of them came to the U.S. except for one that I saw in du pont registry..so they are all in europe..that is prob pretty accurate..btw there were around 1200-1300 GT3s made if im not mistaken..

raphaelws 10-15-2004 01:10 AM

Only one came to Brazil!

st-anger 10-16-2004 11:37 AM

....sorry for not being able to answer earlier

so, there´re definitely way more than 200 GT3 RS, can´t name a specific number but i´d say something around 400+
at least 200 went to germany, 100 RHD to UK, ...

something like that...

Wutputt 10-16-2004 06:40 PM

Ok, thanks you for you're answer.
No problem it was a little bit late, since you have a lot of Porsche work to do ;)

cooperluke 10-16-2004 07:07 PM

Here in Portugal... my dad saw one with red rims, and saw pictures of one in Estoril with blue rims... so, at least two! ;)

RS Patrik 11-24-2004 08:26 AM

As a owner of a Carrara White /with red rims, when picking up my car I was told 587 in total was built.

As an owner of such car, you should post proof :D also known as "pics or STFU" around here ;)

RS Patrik 11-24-2004 08:56 AM

As new (as of today) to this forumk I am not sure how...
Please let me know how, and you'll have the pics.

PS. Please let me know if the Top Gear episod from this weekend can be downloaded, I should be in it.

Thanks a million.

TT 11-24-2004 09:03 AM

It pretty easy.. here are the rules for the "What Do You Drive Or Ride ?" section: http://www.motorworld.net/forum/show...=124881#124881

And examples can be found here, in the JW cars registry: http://www.motorworld.net/forum/show...=196672#196672

You just need to upload the pictures somewhere, possible www.imageshack.us wich is the easier way, then you open a topic in there with the pics, included the most important custom shot ;)

Easy :D ... I hope you will understand why we act like that.. sadly we had way too many bullshitters and had to do something.

As for TG, yes it was available since Sunday evening, but sadly only to a few selected forum members as always ;) at wich point do you appear? :)

RS Patrik 11-24-2004 09:29 AM

OK, thanks. I'll have a go at it after this post.

I drove infront of Jeremy during one lap, on purpose not faster than him, to see if I would appear in the show.Should be easy to spot.

TT 11-24-2004 09:48 AM

I am watching the video again to see if I can see the RS :P

Anyway, I can't wait for your topic, I am sure you will have some great pictures and of course since we have a featured car section... you never know right? :)

edit - no luck.. sadly they dont' show the road in front of him THAT much... and probably he did lot more laps than the 3 or 4 they show us.. but there is no GT3 RS in front of the Jag in the TG episode

RS Patrik 11-24-2004 10:06 AM

Many thanks for checking. Petty it wasn't in.

As I do not have the manual/ key pic over the car ready, will make sure a digi-cam is with me next time I am in the garage (which is not at home).

In the meantime, this is a pic taken of me at Nurburgring in September.

dingo 11-24-2004 10:19 AM

lets hope you are telling the truth....would be cool to have a member with a GT3 RS.
BTW, I am also planning on getting an RS....1/18 scale of course.

I may have some pics of your car at the ring, cause some of my friends were there at the weekend Jeremy and the TopGear crew were there.

Do you go often to the ring?

Edit: is this maybe your GT3 RS?

TT 11-24-2004 03:06 PM

Well I hope Patrick will stick around because his RS would make a marvellous featured car :D and there could be a free spot for February ;)

mindgam3 11-24-2004 03:36 PM

dam, you lucky punk ;)

Saw a gleaming RS in red at Porsche Silverstone the other week..... stunning

What's your car that's pulling it on the trailer btw? ;)

Hi, yes that is my car. I am the tall guy in the picture and the shorter guy is my mechanic, not that he was at the Ring to care of me, he was with the Swedish gang as I was. I now have gotten a personal licence plate, that I'm sure you'll like.
I am sure we met somewhere then, I met 1 photographer in Pistenklause 1 night when we celebrated a birthday, and 1 guy for lunch at Zur Burg. Was it you?

This was the 2nd time in 2004, and 2nd time total. I did the spring Scuderia Hanseat course in my RS-92, which I sold together with my Turbo-88 and some cash in between and bought the car of my dreams during the summer. Do I go often, well as we got our 2nd son on October, I thought I'd better go a 2nd time because next year (2005) I am not sure if I am able to do the same. My wife is OK that I do the spring Scuderia, as long as she and the sons can go and visit her parents in Brazil..... That course will cost a whole lotta cash!

A feature in February (blushing...) what would that involve?
Oh yes, I'm gonna stick around. And I have a lot og pics saved ( of me at the Ring) is it OK to post these?
After the pic with me, do I still need to post a pic with the manual/keys?
How do I get to be a "chosen one " to be able to download?

Kind Regards,
Patrik

Sorry, don't get the question, but my "normal " car is a 1996 Jeep Cherokee that I also use to pull my trailer. I have license to pull "heavy" trailer, special deal in Sweden as elsewhere..., the Jeep can then pull a trailer that weighs 3250 kg!!!

TT 11-25-2004 06:11 AM

Well yes you can post all your pics, but the topic will be accepted in the "what you drive" section only if there is the custom shot with the owner manual on the car ;)
And if it's ok for you to be featured on the portal, it would be nice to have a couple of vids too :P

As for video downloads, well it's for the members who take part in the discussions on a regular basis ;)

How would that pic verify anything.....there is no proof its you or your car. As for the videos, don't ask that question and just be patient and contribute.

RS Patrik 11-25-2004 06:25 AM

OK, I hear you... Will get the owner manual pic asap, for the record this manual does not differ from regular GT3, so on the cover there is a Speedyellow GT3.

I do have a few on- board video's, but no clue how to get them on the computer, each tape is 60 min long, so plenty of space is needed.

I tried to find where one puts a picture in the signature, but to no avail.
Can you please help me?

Kind Regards,
Patrik

dingo 11-25-2004 06:36 AM

click on 'profile' at the top of the page and enter the URL of the pic in the signature area.

RS Patrik 11-25-2004 06:50 AM

I am sure this sounds stupid, but the pic is on my C: drive.
When I click on profile, I only get Avatar areas, no signature.

TT 11-25-2004 06:52 AM

You need to upload the picture on imageshack.us for instance, the you copy their code in the signature area wich is slighty above

BTW, for the vids, you will need somebody able to rip them, no idea if you know somebody.. if you will manage to put the vids in the PC they would be pretty big since a 60 min VHS would end up in something around 300 or 400 MB for good quality, but we could sort something out for the hosting if your car will be featured :)

dingo 11-25-2004 06:53 AM

you can't link from your C: drive, you need to host the pic somewhere....like imageshack.us and then copy the URL and put it in the right area in the profile.

RS Patrik 11-25-2004 07:03 AM

Link is copied, but I still can't find where to put it. I tried in the Signature field, but then the link showed up not the pic...

TT 11-25-2004 07:04 AM

You put it in the signature field and then you confirma at the bottom of the page.. you come back here and you should see the pic :D

dingo 11-25-2004 07:11 AM

did you put the IMG tags at each end of the URL?
Like this:

[img]put your url in here[/img]

I don't think it was me, cause I'm not a professional photographer, I'm just a big car enthusiast with a little digicam ;) And secondly I couldn't be there that weekend, I had some other commitments. The pics were taken by a friend of mine.

RS Patrik 11-25-2004 08:07 AM

Thanks both now working!!!

It's the little things that does it...

TT 11-25-2004 08:10 AM

HAHA, isn't this st-anger's sign?

Not wanting to sound picky, but it's a bit of a confusion if two ppl have the same signature :D

if you want to send me some pics to use to make a similar one but different, I can do it for you.

RS Patrik 11-25-2004 08:21 AM

It is, and maybe you are right, it is confusion.

How do I send the pics to you? PM?

TT 11-25-2004 08:28 AM

I will PM you my email addy ;)
