thanks for the info, i think i was confused with all the magazine tests done with pre-production models. ill have to call up the 'local' porsche dealership and ask if they are slated to get any, or have already sold them...

HELL those rear lights look MEAN!!! (maybe they should keep em that way?) BTW very nice wheels, but what's the thing on top of the dashboard(the bulb above the radio etc.)? is it a clock, or some kind of compass? im not sure i really like it...

stracing 04-30-2004 12:41 PM

luckily that just tape around the rear lights. i'd be shocked with that look. don't like the rims tho

st-anger 04-30-2004 12:43 PM

NOS gauge

...as i said b4, sorry, no comment on any details but the media pics are already finished and they´ll beginn to appear in some weeks time ( 2-3 ) then you can see all the details...
just be patient... 8)

BTW just to be sure, st-anger, but on page2 of this thread in 1 of the pics of the german car mag it says: To prevent damage, a Cayenne interior wrapped up in plastic. But damn me if that's not a CGT interior, cos last time i checked, the Cayenne didnt have a gear shift lever made out of wood and so high up...

Thanks for the scans.. dang to see an Enzo now brings a tear in my eye LOL! I will read later, but just wondering why a red CGT :D simply not right and black would have be perfect but well, there aren't 100'000 CGT from wich to chose ;)

BTW, in page 4 the "standard" CGT doors looks almost misplaced :D luckily you don't judge a car by its doors :P

BTW ok I was unable to wait and had to read.. and well.. not very up to date those jurnalists ;) they write about 349 Enzo

Tomerville 04-30-2004 01:35 PM

Hmmph, as mean as those rear lights might look and all, I still prefer the 996. There is something about the 997 that just doesn't move me I guess. Oh well, just an opinion.

st-anger THANK YOU for those scans...
BTW snowboardertom dont worry those rear lights arent gonna end up that way, these are just partially covered up rear lights to disguise what the 997 is really gonna look like

SPEEDKILLAR 05-01-2004 07:22 AM

Thaaanks st-anger, that was a good read, well anyway the SLR has my vote

If only I was super super rich, I would buy all three :D but I'm not :(

I also wonder why BMW doen't produce a supercar :?

yg60m 05-01-2004 07:29 AM

Thank you mate !!! :D I was waiting for this one and was going to request them, you did it before i ask
I like the CGT in red, they already test a red CGT in AM&S, in fact grey, black , red yellow, it's gorgeous !!

...a friend just mailed me that pic, and god damm this is definitely the fastest GT2 i´ve ever seen, 235mph (378km/h)...
of cource this is not a stock model, just look at the boost gauge, 1.8bar, unbelievable
it´s a project car from german tuner EDO-Competition  link
years ago i went something around 335kmh (208mph) in a slightly tuned GT2 and i thought this was freaking fast, to be honest i was kinda scared, but this.... :o

SPEEDKILLAR 05-01-2004 09:22 AM

TT 05-01-2004 09:27 AM

My fuck! Definitely FAST!

frodefe 05-01-2004 10:46 AM

....

I hope that no-one takes this the wrong way.... :?

But this picture is "photoshopped". Look at the 5000 rpm mark (a shade of read,
where the needle should have been). I think the real speed was something like 237km/h..

I think I've seen this picture posted prev., on a different site were
they came to the above conclusion

lol, good job :D
such speeds aren´t possible with a GT2 even if one´ll tune it to whatever hp...
just the fact that´s 1.8bar is just silly enough....it simply can´t be, aerodynamically i´d say something around 340-350 is the limit, definitely...

jon_s 05-01-2004 11:46 AM

959, to me that is the ultimate porsche of all time, CGT is awesome and I absolutely love it, but given a choice between the two or any other model for that matter, I would choose 959, in fact it is my favorite car period, I would rather have it than a mclaren f1 or any ferrari or really anything else ever produced, period; is it true that porsche offered a factory upgrade up to 515 bhp as an option to 959 costumers? that's a 2.8 L engine, wow, that sounds unbelievable; especially in a car from late 1980's that was so far ahead of its time; would that also mean that 959 with this option could accelerate even faster? I have heard of 3.5 claims, here they give 3.6 for a 450 bhp car, just wondering if a 515 bhp version was ever tested by skilled drivers such as those at CandD? anyway, thanks for the article, really nice piece about a great car
