The longest trip I've ever made was 2 years ago when my brother and I went from Girona to Maranello in one day with our Citro??n AX. I think the trip it's about 1.100 km and it took 12 hours. We only stopped to refill our tank so we stopped 3 times I think. We spend two days in Maranello and then we did the same trip from Maranello to Girona. So, in 4 days we went with our AX from Girona to Maranello and it's about 2.200 km...I love my AX :D

About 8 hours from here to Michigans Upper Peninsula to go snowboarding. Not sure how far it was.

My longest trip was about 600 miles when I went to San Antonio to visit my gf who was staying there with her aunt on vacation. Took me around 8-9 hours to get there. I wouldn't want to do that again by myself. The boredom made it seem like a 15 hour trip.

Car related topic? what is car chat for? :P moved ;)
I'm sure not among the top travelers here.. my record was to go from Mendrisio (South of Switzerland) to Krakov (Poland).. around 1000 km but I was not the only driver :) Every time I have to visit my parents it's a 350 - 420 km (in summer it's short since I can use mountain passes). But my back and forth from Paris this year was the longest one overall.. 600 km Friday and another 600 Sunday was sure not easy :D and I was the only driver there :D |
I definately don't have the longest trip, but a pretty fun and interesting one.
A few months ago some friends and I rode our bikes from Los Angeles to San Fransisco. We purposely took the route that had all the fun canyons to make the trip interesting (something like 6-7 hours). It was great fun going up, but sucked ass coming down. To lesson our time in getting back, we avoided the canyons and went along the coast. Let me tell you, riding along the coast at night on a motorcycle is no fun at all. It was extremely cold and we were all tired as hell. Then add on the thick fog that prevented us from seeing anymore than 10 feet in front of us. Would I do it again? Hell yeah. I would just make sure we started back home in the morning. |
only had license for 3 months, so longest drive has been about an hour. lol... longest car ride is 24-hours straight, driving from Florida home to Ontario.

I went twice to Spain(Alicante) from Hungary...its around 2800-3000Km in 24 H!!!
Once with a 1999 Civic, and then with a Avensis... :D It was great! I went through 6 countries in one day... 8) 8) 8) |
Houston (River Oaks) to Hillsborough (near SF) CA, I drove it with a friend, but he didn't drive at all. Just shy of 2000 miles (1994 I think), did it in 25 hours, stopping only for fuel and 3 hours for a split rim in Arizona.
It was arguably the most boring drive I've ever done, taking I10 from Houston to LA. Absolutely horrible. Worst part was that we were in his 330i which was misfiring the whole time. I could not use full throttle because it would dump fuel and slow down, and I could feel it when the 5th cylinder actually kicked in, otherwise we were running on ~4 average (out of 6). We ditched the car in LA at his friend's house and borrowed a Z4 to finish the job (another hour wasted transferring gear). Suffice to say, that got the cross-country trip bug out of my system. Then again, perhaps if we had chosen a more scenic route... --Dan |
Pretty good guys but I think I have you all beat, when I lived in Ottawa, I did Ottawa to Miami in 26 hours numerous times, Ottawa to Cape Cod over 15 times, but the big daddy was 3 years ago, when a friend and I drove from Ottawa to Vancouver and then down to San Franciso then over to Chicago and back home. It took us 3 weeks, but then again we stopped in Banff for 3 days, Vancouver for 3 days, San Franciso for 4 days and just generally took it easy. For people who don't realize exactly how big Ontario is, it takes two full days of driving just to get out of the province from one end to the other.

Rob: now THAT is a hell of a trip.

My soccer team and I took a bus from Toronto to Dallas 2 years in a row for a tournament. We only stop once for food and gas at the same time. The trip takes us 26 hours each way.

1998, after a couple days of enjoying MIAMA/FL, hurricane GEORGE did not really
liked our presence..., so we (my girlfriend (now wife), her brother and myself) decided to leave this 'windy' place and headed towards LAS VEGAS/NV, approx. 4,100 kms within 38 hours - we only stopped for gas'n'food....and...we also got in serious troubles in the state of TEXAS....speeding of course ;-) - and....not only once   cheers, iwan |

I have done a couple of long trips over the last four years:
1. Mountain View, CA to Houston, TX Distance/time- 1950 miles / 3137 KM door to door - 25 hours driving time (+ 6 hours sleep) - 78 mph/126 km/h avg incl fuel stops. Car: 01 Audi S4 Details: Briefly touched 140 mph in three states on the way - Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. 2. Houston, TX to Cincinatti, OH Distance/time- 1130 miles / 1818 Km door to door - 15 hours driving time - 75 mph/121 km/h avg incl fuel stops. Car: 01 Audi S4 Details: No particular driving heroics - was on cruise at 85-90mph for the most part. 3. El Paso, TX to Mountain View, Ca Distance/time - 1150 miles/1850 km door to door - 19 hours driving time - 60 mph/100 km/h avg incl fuel stops. Car: Fucking awful Hyundai Elantra Details: Went through a major thunderstorm in New Mexico - car was moving from lane to lane. Awful seats gave me a terrible backache. Longest time spent in car for me. As an aside, it was Sept 13, 2001. Was stranded with my flight back to CA cancelled due to the plane crash in NYC. hence the rental car to get back home. 4. Vienna, VA to Birmingham, AL Distance/time - 750 miles/1200 km door to door - 15 hours driving time - 50 mph/80 km/h avg incl fuel stops. Car: 01 Audi S4 Details: lot of cops so was on cruise at 72mph for a good chunk of the journey. Filled gas in record time in the state of VA. It was the time with crazy mo-fos - gunmen Malvo and whatsisname who were taking potshots at people filling gas. 5. Birmingham, AL to Houston, TX Distance/time - 666 miles/1080 km door to door - 9 hours driving time - 75 mph/120 km/h avg incl fuel stops. Car: 01 Audi S4 Details: Less cops so was on cruise at 85 mph+ :D . |
