Ahhhhh...... the Carrera GT and the SLR isn't exactly 'a walk in the park' either TopGearNL. I think that's one reason why I should start Yoga!!! Mags

 Only you would know. I wish I had that problem
I'm goin crazy :silly: waiting for the pics of the GT3RS tag pics! I need to learn more patience, I know

magwheel 04-22-2007 02:31 PM

FINALLY!!!...... The Sun  came out yesterday and I was able to get some pretty neat shots of the GT3RS and its new license plate. Sorry for the long delay but Mother Nature had a mind of her own and I wasn't about to argue with her!

In all the excitement of being able to get some pics of the RS, I completely forgot to get the 'accenting props' I told you I wanted to get. I'll dig them up later this week and post a pic of the RS with the 'props' which I think you'll get a real kick out of! Some of you after seeing the plate might even have a decent guess as to what the props are but I won't reveal the secret until I post the pic. :prr:

I took the liberty of trying to shoot some 'artistic' shots :rainbow1: of the RS and only you will tell me if I succeeded or not. Feel free to tell me 'yes or no'. I'm a big boy and can take the truth!

The shots taken on the driveway incline seemed like a good idea.... especially the ones of the 'ass end' going up the hill  and the ones through the trees. My drive is 2500 feet long and narrow (only 10ft. wide) so it's hard to arrange some various picture positions.

What I really have to do in the next couple of weeks is get a 'line-up' picture 'ala Dragnet' style :2gunfire: of all the cars and a trio picture of the 3 Porsches and a trio picture of the 3 Mercedes. I have a few neat ideas to make them different too. Thanks for hanging in there with me and sorry for being a little late in posting them. Take care, Mags

p.s. As far as the idea of the license plate, I had seen a post on another web forum (6speedonline.com) and the person (DJ) posted the 'Topic'...... "Can't get enough of Orange Crush". This is about the time I started getting 'hot and heavy' for the GT3RS! I'm not sure whether or not his post stayed with me 'subliminal' and when it came time for me to think of a plate, I may have unconsciously recalled his post and that's possibly where I got the plate idea or whether I thought of it on my own..... but if it is from his post, I certainly want to give him credit  for that idea or at the least thank him for turning me on to the GT3RS.

p.s.s. Do you realize how close me and YOU are to 100,000 views :shocked!: since March of 2006? Only a couple hundred more posts and we've done it!!! I sincerely want to thank everyone for your kind replies and great communications over the last year or so. It's been fantastic talking with a lot of you and discussing cars in general. I only hope we can keep this post going and that I can keep supplying topics of interest for you without going 'broke' in the process!!!   :roflmao: :wall: Mags.... over and out!

Whoops..... sorry about that! I corrected my error! I think I'm delirious from taking and downsizing all the pics and then posting the pics through 'Imageshack' to get them on JabbasWorld for you! At my age, :bday: I think I need an afternoon nap  after that laborious job! :faint: Nyuk..... nyuk! :roflmao: Mags

glad to see you keep recycling some cars and keeping some others... and that you share with us all

novass 04-22-2007 07:16 PM

I want that car!!! :D

Great pics, I really like how the orange pops out at you against the nature background. Nice plate too, though its making me thirsty for orange soda. :D

atomic80 04-23-2007 12:44 AM

Can't get any more creative than that, Mags. Great touch going with that plate! Kinda has the same kind of panache as "Fuzzy Navel" but its own special touch all its own.

Funny thing about your wife's plate on her Rover is that I was in yoga class earlier tonight and the instructor was talking about how it's pronounced/spelled either "OM" or "AUM." Personally I think "OM" looks better. :D

Keep those pictures coming, Mags...won't be long before we reach 1000 replies!

Hi insane, I've been taking it a lot to work lately because it's a 'blast' :onfire: to drive it on the freeway. As far as tracktime, I don't think that will happen for a few reasons, 1) I'm a good driver but not a great driver..... I'd be afraid that I would lose it in a corner and do some damage to the car and me, 2) At 59, my reflexes aren't what they use to be so that would be a negative against me and 3) To be honest, my balls aren't big enough to do some heavy duty track time. :bah: I've never been in to 'high speed' driving anywhere.

The fastest I've ever gone in a car was around 135-140 in a 1966 (427) Corvette and I wasn't driving. I was scared 's_ _ _less'! :faint: The fastest I've ever driven a car myself was around 125-130. Just isn't in my blood! Maybe I want to live a long time and that's how I justify being 'chickensh _ t' Hope I haven't disappointed some of you hard-core track enthusiasts! :prr: Mags

Uhhhhh atomic80, She's not my wife...... she's my girlfriend of 6 1/2 years. I did my duty to 'God and my Country' once. Had four wonderful kids and then wound up getting a divorce :slap: after being with her for 30 years. It was mostly my fault cause I was 'being a :silly: Bad Boy'! I never plan on getting married again!!! Once is enough! :wanker: Mags

Yeah cooperluke, that's how it came from the Porsche Dealer. I'm weird. I like to keep interior stickers or tags intact on all my cars. Then every time I get in one, it makes me feel like it's a new car again! Mags

Nah racingfreak, It's a Valentine One radar detector. It's the best I feel although I am trying out Cincinnati Escort's new 9500 detector with GPS. It's mounted in my 07 SL550. Pretty cool when it talks to you. :argue: Still going through a trial period and I really haven't given it a good evaluation yet.

Radar Jammer..... I wouldn't do that! They're illegal aren't they? I wouldn't even know where to get one. Do you? Got their number? Heh.... heh..... heh! Mags

atomic80 04-23-2007 11:54 AM

That does help make it easier to sell your cars too. It doesn't surprise me that you prefer to keep things as intact as possible because you do change cars pretty often!

Not a bad habit to have! :D

not me. i'm going to a track a few times a year. but usually it's a organized course to improve driving skills. it would be very funny to go racing and hunting seconds but then it's a very expensive hobby. i spoke with a few drivers which are doing the whole season from the Pirelli Porsche Cup Suisse... it's insane how much money some people spend just for tires.... i guess it will take a few more years until i'll join them for a season... maybee
and everybody who's honest has to say that it could happen very fast on a track and it's over... so i really understand everybody who doesn't drive on a track with his car.

and you're pics are great. the orange one is my favorite color combo for the RS.
i'm still waiting for my first ride on the passenger seat in a GT3RS... looking forward to read more driving experiences from you

cheers

It's not possible to get a radar jammer at this time. Not ones that actually works anyways. :D

BTW, did you ever get that "T" on your Carrera GT fixed?

I must agree, no offence, but if I was 59 I would also rather look for someone who takes good care of me...but at my current age (22) I still enjoy the beautiful "fruits" that my success provide me...my list is not nearly as long as yours, but definately working on it!!!

Really Expensive Rear License Plate Light Bulb

To help keep this engine going, :multi: I have a little story to relate to you. I stopped at the local Mercedes to check on replacing a license plate light bulb that had burned out. What's really neat is there's a warning light on the dash that told me my right license plate bulb had burned out. Great in depth warning system on my S550 but what the heck is a light bulb burning out after 1000-1500 miles? :bad-words: Must have happened the time I took it off-road in the quarries! :roflmao: Yeah... right!

But truth be told, I also stopped in there to check on the new CLK63 Black Edition :shocked!: that's coming out in July or somewhere close. So meanwhile I go ahead and ask about the license plate light bulb and they tell me to stop in one day and they'll replace it in 10 or 15 minutes. Trick!

Then I inquire back about the CLK63 BE and they aren't up to date on the car because it was just announced by MB I can understand that because we're kinda in a small town market area and sometimes it takes time for Big News to reach us in this region.
'
The Owner promises to check into the CLK63 BE for me and in the same breath he says there's something he thinks I should check out. HUH? They just received a Limited Edition SL550 in the 'White Pearl' paint with a 'designo' package. I'm not too familiar with the 'designo' packages, so I stupidly say "Sure, why not, show me the car!" BIG MISTAKE! :faint:

The 'White Pearl' paint work is absolutely illegal! It shines like a real white pearl in the sun! The interior is also fabulous. It has the 'designo Mystic White Edition' option which includes the following: designo Mystic White multistage paint, designo Porcelain Nappa leather upholstery, Natural Maple wood trim, Wood/leather steering wheel and shift knob Charcoal Alcantara roof liner and Black designo floor mats.

Plus to aggravate me even more, it has Distronic and Parktronic AND the Panorama Roof with Sunshade! 8) Great..... just great! My present SL550 is only 5 months old and they go ahead and put me in heat again by showing me this car.

I tell the owner, "OK.... I'll bite! What kinda deal can you make me?" He works on all kind of numbers and then comes back with a figure that's decent but not quite enticing enough. So I manage to beat him up for a few more dollars and...... we make the deal!

What's perplexing is that I was very happy with my Pewter SL550 and would have remained that way if they would have only left me alone. I hate car dealers!!! :prr:

Below are some pics of the new 'White Pearl' SL550. I think you'll see how much more the 'White Pearl' stands out from the Pewter. BTW.... I did go ahead last weekend and make a 'Virtual Handshake Deal' with an Ohio Mercedes dealer for his copy of the CLK63 BE. I hope that it's all Mercedes and the online car forums are making it out to be! :D Take care, Mags
