Thank you TT. That was kind of you to send me a Christmas wish back. I hope everything is merry and bright with you and yours! “Fröhlichi Wienachte” :x-mas: Michael p.s. Did I get it right? I did a big time search on Google to try and find the right wording!

Merry Christmas Michael!

Have a safe holiday, and let us all be thankful that so many we care about are here with us day in and day out. Kinship is the greatest gift that keeps on returning long after our toys have lasted thier usefullness.

Thankyou for bringing your passion to JW with a personal touch that so many don't even know exists. Your time here has no price; my only wish is that you recieve back something from us each time you visit.

Maybe even the ex can be nice for a day or few :P

gucom 12-23-2006 08:37 PM

Merry Christmas, although i suppose there'll be a seperate thread to wish it to all the JW members :)

BTW i think it should've been Fröhliche Weihnachte, but either way, TT is from the french speaking part of switzerland

TT 12-24-2006 03:54 AM

Sadly this is the worst Christmas ever for me. A very very very sad one, but don't want to ruin the warm atmosphere in here ;)

Oh, and actually my mother language is italian and I live again in the italian speaking part of Switzerland since July, so it's "Buon Natale" for me ;)

ae86_16v 12-24-2006 04:43 AM

Shout out from California! :D . . . Merry Christmas Michael.

TT. . . hang in there buddy :). We are a community here and we support each other. :)

Wutputt 12-24-2006 10:48 AM

Long time since I visited this thread. Looks like you made some changes to your car line-up. Congratis with the new Mercs and 955TTS and a Merry Christmas ;)

magwheel 12-27-2006 07:08 AM

Thanks For My Belated Christmas Gift!

Hey Everyone, I wanted to thank all of you for the belated Christmas gift you gave me. Although it was only, (I'm guessing 6-12 hours late), you guys did it. Since March of this year, the Topic I started has received 80,000 hits early Tuesday morning.

Your interest in my cars and the reviews I did, has put a huge smile on my face. :D Plus, the various friends I've made from all over the world is a great extra. I'm not a traveler since, (boy I hate to admit this), but I'm 'chicken sh_t about flying. :shocked!: I haven't been in an airplane since 1977. So hearing from people in different countries is kinda my way of being a 'world traveler'!

Again, thank you for the fantastic Christmas present! I hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and please have a safe, healthy and happy New Year! :smilecolors: Michael p.s. I still owe you guys reviews on the Mercedes SL550 and S550. I'll give you those next month. Thanks again. Michael

Stoopie 12-27-2006 08:12 AM

Lol magwheel you should try flying in airplanes nowadays :D I wasn't even born in 1977 but I am sure the planes are a helluvalot better these days! But then again, if you hate flying, the flying part didn't change. :P

magwheel 12-30-2006 10:37 PM

Almost here!

Well everyone, 2007 is just about here! :bday: I wanted to take the time out from my not so busy schedule and wish all of you a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year!

Except for TOBY passing away on Thanksgiving :(, it's been a wonderful year. I hope that everyone else had a great year too!

Everybody take care and stay out of trouble on New Year's night. :drinking: NO drinking and driving! Let the women chauffeur you around! I want to see one and all back here posting and arguing and conversing January 2nd at the latest. It's been my pleasure to meet so many new friends from all over the world. Since I'm not a traveler anymore, (haven't been in airplane since 1977 cause I'm too chicken sh_t to fly), you given me insights from countries everywhere.

So to all of you from all of us over here at the 'Animal House', Happy New Year and may God Bless You for 2007. Michael and Eunice plus our pets Raspberry, Whizzer, Shadow, Cassie (our 4 dogs), Winston (our cat) and Scooter (our wild rabbit). :smilecolors:

nthfinity 12-30-2006 10:46 PM

Thanks, and wishes of good health, prospairity, and safety to you as well :) :rainbowafro: :drinking: :roflmao:

MIHALS 12-31-2006 10:10 AM

wish you ALL THE BEST in new Year, Michael!!!

lol "Let the women chauffeur you around!" you're insane mike

Can't wait for other reviews, hope you'll get some nice wheels in the upcoming year, so we can keep drooling

"Fröhlichi Wienachte" is correct, it's real swiss german :good:
in germany they say "Fröhliche Weihnachten"

It's about time to get ready for the big bang - 17 min to go for New Year!

Happy New Year!

Pimp Racer 12-31-2006 08:18 PM

Hey Michael I read in your signature that you got yourself a TACOMA???

GREAT BUY MAN! How are you liking it so far? Any pics? Also what kind did you get? 2 or 4 doors?

Check out my Tacoma. http://www.motorworld.net/forum/showthread.php?t=41357

More pictures will be added probably in a few weeks time. :D

Starting Off 2007 With a Bang!

A little late but I guess you could say Santa made it! :x-mas:

Well.... TT and Jabba, I've got some more ammunition for your web site. It's gonna make some people happy and somebody mad. I traded the 2005 Ford GT and the 2007 Porsche 997 Turbo on a brand new 2006 Mercedes McLaren SLR!

I had first taken a SLR for a test ride in March of 2006 (You may remember my test ride review here on JW) and loved the car but not enough to cough up the :shocked!: 'beaucoup' amount of moolah to buy it. The thought of another huge car payment made me nauseous! But then every other month, the SLR bug bit my ass again and again. First I'd want one.... :good: then I wouldn't.... :bad: then I would.... and then I wouldn't! This has gone on and on and on for the past several months. So just this past week, I decided to cut to the chase and get off my arse and break open my piggy bank!

I called the Cleveland Mercedes dealer and worked out a deal trading in the 997 Turbo and the Ford GT. I feel I got a pretty good deal but won't know for sure until after I drive the car and try and wipe the drool and huge grin off my face! I'm hoping that the price drop of the SLR comes to a sudden halt soon and it starts to climb back up a little. Kinda taking a huge gamble on the future value of the car but sometimes.... 'You've gotta throw all caution to the wind and say the hell with it!' :wanker:

I bought the Crystal Laurite Silver with the Silver Arrow 300SL Red Leather interior SLR. I liked the Black one too but I think the Silver will show its body lines off better and will certainly stand out a little more in the sun.... especially with the red interior. She should be here Wednesday or Thursday at the latest according to the dealer.

The dealer also sent a few guys to pick up the Ford GT and the 997 Turbo Friday night.... guess they were afraid I'd suddenly change my mind on the SLR...... Who me? The bummer was, it was raining pretty good and although the 997 has seen a little rain, the Ford GT couldn't even spell rain! The thought of getting the Ford GT's engine compartment wet and dirty made me cringe in pain! :x

Unfortunately, right now, there's a couple empty parking spots in the garages!

I'll try and do a review of the SLR and a comparison to the Carrera GT shortly after I get the steering wheel is in my horny little hands! The Mags

p.s. I really loved the Ford GT (but hardly drove it.... only 1000 miles in 2 years), so it just didn't make sense keeping her. And even though I did drive the Porsche 997 Turbo a lot more than the Ford GT, I just couldn't justify holding on to the Turbo when I could have the SLR in its parking spot ! Did I do OK? :faint:

Pimp Racer 01-07-2007 11:14 PM

I can understand the GT but the 977 as well! :( Oh well its your choice. Its still good though.

TopGearNL 01-07-2007 11:15 PM

Wow Magwheel!! :D

At least you get the opportunity to do these kind of things! :D

I think you did well to start off! Your bang on about the Silver, the lines do come out best in that colour! And I love the red interior too, its the same type SLR they used on the TopGear Race!

Anyway I can understand why you put the GT and the Porsche away.. I fully can! If you can't enjoy them, why keep them :bah:?

You will have a Carrera GT, a racing car for the streets! And a SLR which is also a racingcar wen you want it to be..! If you just want to drive it normally put in in D and waft forever! :D

This puts such a big smile on my face, really does!

Again I think you did well, the SLR is the best and most reliable supercar ever made IMO!

Hope you will enjoy it for a very long time, keep us updated! Oh and Happy New Year my friend! :D

nthfinity 01-08-2007 12:05 AM

I felt this might be the trade up you were having in mind when i spoke to you in november or so.

Perhaps not the trade I would have done, but hey, its not my collection, now is it !!! :spaz: LOL But how can I say its not a bad choise either... particularly when the GT is still holding its value quite nicely :)

I look forward to your ownership review Michael... the content you keep bringing is undending, and utterly spectacular!

Mattk 01-08-2007 12:20 AM

A belated happy new year, Michael, and I'm glad you're still enjoying your cars. I'm sure the SLR will be great, although I was a bit surprised you traded in the 997, because you seemed quite enraptured with it when you bought it.

MIHALS 01-08-2007 02:20 AM

wow, as others are shocked - I can understand FGT, but 997TT? oh no  the best car in the best color... oh well, we might expect the 997GT3 then? :D

congrats for the SLR Mike! I think you've made a good choice even I wouldn't buy it, but that noise would change my mind pretty quickly I guess  :D
so enjoy your new baby and I can't wait for the PROPPER review
Happy new year Mike!

Erez 01-08-2007 04:11 AM

sad to see 2 great cars go! but hotdamn! an SLR! :D
i bet in a week or two we'll see pics of you with no panties britney next to you
andwho! congrats man!! can't wait to hear what you have to say after you had some more ownership time with it! ..and pics!
great way to start the new year!
congrts man! 0X your my new idol now  can't wait to the day (and it will come.. :P ) that i could have such a nice and exciting car life

Stoopie 01-08-2007 04:26 AM

Congratz on the SLR, too bad the 997 had to go :( Btw, your SLR is exactly the same as my avatar

cooperluke 01-08-2007 06:27 AM

No more 997TT??? :(

I like the Slr... but.... no more 997TT??? :(

You didn't like it?

Just a small question... you get tired of your cars very fast, don't you??? :)

stmoritzer 01-08-2007 06:39 AM

Well, though decisions you've to make magwheel

Congrats to your new ride, the SLR! - silver is the standard color .... that's maybe the reason I would have choosen another color like black for instance
IMO it's ok to trade the GT and the TT for the SLR.

mevistox5 01-08-2007 02:56 PM

Are you visiting the Mclaren factory for the SLR Expirience??? Take a look here:

Iwan 01-08-2007 03:06 PM

amazing, always thought I'm crazy changing 7 cars in 14 months,
of course different level but this just tops everything!

good choice on the SLR, have seen a couple in real life, the only thing missing
on that one is the sound output.

have fun with all your beasts!!

regards
iwan

Wow, it seems that you enjoy your cars for a bit and then theyre gone. Ill take the handydowns  .

I must be very nice to enjoy cars of this caliber everyday! I'm jelous, one day..... 0X

Congrats on the SLR, although im a little upset that you got rid of the 997TT, but hey, its ur money right

It's a one time opportunity. If you take into account what the car costs the airfare is pocketchange.

Z3uS 01-08-2007 04:44 PM

Wow, man... I want to be like you in the future

SLR is a great car, one of my favourites and i'm sure you will enjoy it. A pitty the 997T had to go, but it's all great when a SLR is coming though :P

Congratulations for the trade.

Must..... Not..... Flame.......

Stay....... on...... topic........ ugggggh.... so....... much..... hate..... of....... american cars.....

I think that it is safe to say that Michael hasn't been on an aircraft of any kind in at least 20 years... but i think even longer (sometime in the 70's) ;)

cooperluke 01-08-2007 04:48 PM

LOL... I think the money isn't the issue...

The problem is that an airplane has that "naughty habit" of taking the wheels of the ground... ;)

It would be funny... someone buying an SLR, and then not going to the factory to save money! :D

In fact.... almost as funny has someone having and driving cars that can do 300km/h, but being afraid to fly! :D

It is a whole lot of pages LOL... but its a nice way to spend a bit of time :)

Also, a friend who bought a CGT in early 2005 had one on order originally, stopped the order, and bought his at 40,000$ off MSRP... and didn't fly to Weissach, or Stutgart to do any of the available options for pick up, or pre-ordered costomer events, and is quite happy he saved 40,000$... but... I have another friend who has one, and is quite happy to have flown to Germany for the special costomer options, and doesn't regret it whatsoever...

different strokes for different folks :)

TT 01-08-2007 06:21 PM

While reading your post I was hoping for a "new" color and not one of the two original ones, but well, silver will do and damn, what a nice addition to the collection, although it's pretty sad to see the 997 already go!

sameerrao 01-08-2007 06:32 PM

I change my shorts about as frequently as Mike changes his cars... I guess it is time for my change then ... see you later :)

I have not been checking up on the comings and goings in this thread for ages. Sorry to read about the passing of your dog! Hope you have a nice 07

Oh yeah guys...... go ahead and just keep picking on my sorry 'old' spoiled brat ass! :prr: Just cause I'm afraid to fly (in an airplane) and not go over 120 mph or so in a car doesn't mean I'm a 'candy ass' or..... does it???

Heck... I use to drag race across the nation and once hit a guard rail at around 100-110 mph. Didn't roll the car (1967 Camaro Super Stocker) but the accident would have made a fantastic Coca Cola commercial. After I got out of the car and the "Hurst Safety Safari Team' got to me, they asked me if I was OK? I responded to them by saying "I'm alright... do you have a Coke?... gimme a Coke!" :shocked!:

You've guys got to remember, I'll be 59 next month. Back in the 60s, if I had these cars then, I might have been as 'wild and crazy' like most of you 'young shi_ts' are nowadays! :slap: You'll see, as you get older and wiser, you'll value the time you have left here on Earth and slow down a little.

Plus, if you promise be nice to me... I'll send you an autographed picture of me and the SLR signed 'The Beast and the Chicken'! :roflmao: The Mags

Erez 01-09-2007 03:29 AM

^ I know what you mean, even I in my age ( :P  ) am "slower" then I was a few years ago.. (could be tho its just the I now dont have a car and just drive what i can leech from people  and 3-4 years ago I had a some really fast wheels  , time will tell I guess.. :D )
anywho, will be waiting for those postcards or even an "E-card" :D ;)

PS- do feel free to share more stories   and be sure to take a Coke with you in the SLR, as you'll be doing 120 in no time

Hey Pimp Racer, Sorry for the late reply. I bought the 4 door extended bed. Most of its use will be for getting corn and bird seed :D and occassionally hauling items too big for the Toyota FJ. I usually haul 800 to 1000 lbs. at a time and she has no trouble!

I had a 06 Ford F150 but was tired of driving a 'big' truck  so I gave it to my girlfriend's brother to finish out the lease. He had some financial problems and I tried to ease his stress a little.

Enjoy your Tacoma.... I really like mine. I just installed a Sirius Stiletto radio in her yesterday. Their channel selection is really great. I love listening to Radio Classics (channel 118) which plays a lot of radio shows from the 40s and 50s. Take care. Michael
