Yeh it was a great way to open a new series. I love it how the DB9 beat the train to the south coast of France! Did you see he was doing over 120 mp/h in parts of the episode!!

Yep, this episode reminds me why I like topgear better than 5th gear.

The story about that bad Indian(rover) car was funny.

Two things I hated about this episode: firstly all the BMW bashing, and second that irritating excessive patriotic bullshit.

Also I noticed that they stole a joke from sniff petrol about that fast Ford hatch.

What I did like: The DB9, the Exige and the Apache. Jeremy may say it's ugly, but to me that means it's design is purely based on efficiency, and that's why it's such a cool and deadly machine.

I also noticed that Jeremy still can't drive properly, and that it stays the best car show in the world.

I really enjoyed it, this was fantastic after all those months. But there are even better ones to come!!! Those previews at the beginning of this episode were showing us there will be really great cars on the next shows. Like the Carrera GT, SLR, 360M CS, GT3RS etc. !!!

Topgear is back again!!!!!!

I didn't hear when he said something about the ford's. :(Yes i think he is....

anyway, i think Jeremy cheated... wasnt the agreement that he could only use the car? he took the boat across the channel, i dont know if its possible, im not british, but if it is, he should have driven across 0X

As we are an Island unless the car can either float or fly then it would have been one hell of a jump over to France if he had not taken the seacat.

Yeah he is getting his Ford GT so he can say what he likes about Ford now  I don't know whether he'll keep the SL55 AMG though as i think he said he wanted a Aston Martin DB9 AMV8 aswell, i think the BBC are paying him too much

Jabba
05-10-2004, 07:14 AM
I heard he had to pay an out of court settlement to someone recently after he trashed their book.

The figure an amazing £200,000...I knew he was doing well...but I had no idea that he was making enough to shell that sort of money out.

When he had his own chat show thing i know he had some huge million plus contract and the BBC were pretty desperate to get him back on Top Gear so he might be on more now, anyway he's worth it, so funny and un PC last night though i think some might object to the friendly fire jokes. My TV card picked the perfect moment to actually work for once and i've already watched it again it was that good!! :D

he7lius
05-10-2004, 07:27 AM
Well he must get a lot of money, cos from what i know he has a very expensive house and didn't he put on his front garden a fire fighter???
I know it was cheap compared with the cost o a normal fighter but i think it still cost him £30, 000.
£30, 00 for something u can't use?? It's like throwing it way and to through away that amount of money u have to have o lot.

I think i heard this on a TV show but not sure.

NIce episode, though I think that Jeremy's obsession in putting british steel, british engineering and british everything to the very top position just because it is british, is totally amateurish. Sure it is funny and pleases most of british... No doublt that aston martin DB9 is hell of a car. one of the evry best but to put it where he did... not very cool.. and scaglietti was uncool because of dude was named "ken" ?? redicilous. Same as to say that aston is uncool because the motor oil it is using is produced in a factory where some guy is named "ndikfbngdsfk".

Otherwise great show!

I think you need a "sense of humor" to understand the show properly.

I totally agree with you but i think if the show was politically correct them it wouldn't be much fun.

I think bcs of the wall thing the celebrities chart (the people with the fastest time are the better people- So simon much be the best person in the world.   ) and the british stuff ( but not every time. Look what they did to rover, ahahahaha) makes the show so popular.

I love the show.

Of course he would get one.

His a celebrity, only talks about cars, and has a great sense of humour = Ford get publicity for free.

If the sold it to a no one, no one would talk about the GT 40, but bcs its Jeremy, Ford end a great public image. Common sense.
And i bet because on this Ford is one of the most spoken words in the show.

Aye, I understand that politically correct shows are more boring. Just IMHO this "everything has to be british" is sometimes a bit worn out. Rememeber the episode with RR Phantom? I TOTALLy agree with Jeremy there - it would be better if it were 100% british.

And to calm all UK residents - I am actually huge fan of British history, British empire and lots of other things thar are "british".

LOL jabba!! for sure a Jeremy's humour may not make sense to everyone but he's one of the funniest people on TV and the Cool wall is a perfect example of that. He put the 612 in uncool because it was designed by someone called ken!!!- how funny is that, the show was the most me and my flatmates laughed since we saw Peter Kay live at the bolton albert halls!!. And as for saying Aston Martins are the best cars, well he changes his mind every week anyway! But its not just blind patriotism, if a British car firm makes a crap car then he lets them know so- thats probably why rover 'supposidly' wouldn't give them a city rover to test, James was harsh on it but i hate to think what jeremy would have said!!

I think Jeremy overdoes this too, but it is part of his character and persona. If he was PC and very unbiased the reviews would be poor and the show un-entertaining. :D

Oh and please remind me what is "totally amateurish" about Jeremy :?

PS.. Jabba is right when he says "you need a sense of humour".... i also think a sense of perspective is required

If I remember properly he said once that the SL55 AMG was a gay car, and them he has one??

U have to laugh at what he says but u can't take them serious.

Yeah me too, annoys me that. He gets to drive all the best cars in the world and does pretty much nothing else but drive cars. And he still hasn't managed to learn how to drive at all!!

Good at talking bout them though. So ill let him off. Thats why it was such a shame to loose tiff to 5th gear. He can drive a bit!

His agreement was that he cannot get on any kind of TRAIN and May (James) and Richard not get on any kind of CAR.

And even if you are not British, you should be able to formulate a thought that anything shallow for a car to get across is not called a channel. And how dare you. Would you get your Aston get wet? Just think about what kind of damage can be done to leather from salt water.

well that is a problem because he should be a reporter more objective...he realy pissed me when he talked about the new 1 series bmw.....
he said that makes 0-60 to 11 seconds...i thought 10.8 but there is no difference...anyway the cars at this category doesn't make less..take an audi a3 1.6 or a golf 1.6 or the new astra....and he realy pissed me when he ssaid that all they should buy this car are stupid silly and they will buy it only because it is a bmw.....come on...and about the looks....jeremy judges the looks when he sold the f355 for a sl..... :?

I enjoyed the exige bit more when the Apache AH-64 put so much down force, in air on the exige it blew it out lol. I would like top gear somtime have shows covering old cars from diffenert nations, like for old USA cars. Them driving the 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 and so on and so on for other nations, they would need to do them for the main Car nations.
