How sad - 14 years old, 2 owners adn it only has 4600 miles on it.

That means neither of the owners got to know and enjoy thte car.

That is the true pity about uber-exotics... you seldom get to use them - and in 14 years and 4600 miles you scarcely scratch the surface of the true nature of a car.

pity indeed RC, probably 80-year old owners

pato355, are u the guy who chases the f40 in a a3 i think (in chile) , and made a video?

i have that one!

The guy ran the Koenigsegg last year is actually quite famous, and owns China Whites in London.

As for the F40 - there are any number of reasons why this one has the mileage it does. So long as the major has been done and all of the recalls are in lpace, it's ok. But, the guy is asknig too much.

I have been searching for the right F40 for probably 6 months now and still haven't found it. These cars move very slowly, and obviously for those who know what to look for, a 90 car will not even be considered.

Nope its not me , and yes that is the F40 i am talking to you , a friend lives close to his house , but the cars are very very secured , f40 , f50 , a ruf and stuff like that , and the car who cahses teh f40 in that video is an S2 i think

That's an awesome video... I have it too. Do you know the guy's name? I can try to find out who he is.

The owner of the F40 ? Marcos Hites , his dad owns a department store which is very little , aimed to low income ppl , Marcos owns a Factoring , he is very known here , in the video you can see at the left an UNIMARC which is a supermarket , he sometimes parks one of his Ferraris , opens the doors and the engine compartment , and sits in the bonnet waiting for kids to go and admire the car .

By "move very slowly", are you referring to the purchasing of one, or its performance? I hope you're not talking about performance, as a F40 will wipe the floor with your 550.

The F40 is truely one of the best cars ever made IMO.

He is talking selling speed here... ;)

depends on who you are selling it to. if you sell to a teenager hes more likely to go for the 550 as its more sportier but if it was a car enthusiast as most of us here are they would go for the F40 i certainly would

UHm - how the hell do you peg a 550 as "sportier"???

The F50 would be the "sporty" one - the 550 the "cruiser"... in this comparison... ;)

PATo355
05-09-2004, 07:29 AM
Totally agree , the 550 is everything but sporty , its a cruiser , its the best GT in the worlds , but if you want something sporty get a 360 , if you are seriously into speed get the f40

How ignorant is that?

As I stated above, the F40 will anihilate the 550 in any race. As a matter of fact, I've seen a F40 beat a F50 and a McLaren F1 (tests done by Best Motoring....the F40 had the fastest lap time).

Yeah, dude, my 550 is so fucking bad ass, I have NAWS in it, and I have a turbo super charger with a triple intake and weber carbeurators! I smoked a Koenigsegg and then we traded cars cuz the guy said he has to have the fsting thing ever. I have a time slip with me doing a 1/4 mile in 4s at 270mph, but I dont have a scanner.

What the F*CK do you think I'm talking about?

With 1300 F40s produced (compared to less than 300 288GTOs), and only ~250 of those in the US, there are always F40s for sale. But, EVERYONE knows about them, and most of the cars are either garage queen b!tches that will take $30k to get running again (seriously - this is common), or they're abused and put away wet.

Either way, there are very few cars worth buying. I've seen maybe 15, and not one met my mechanic's standards. I'm fortunate int hat he is *the* F40 authority. I'm trying to find a car that won't win shows, but I can do 60, 100k miles on and be tip-top.

In general, the early cars should be stayed away from. I dont look at anything if it's not a 92, and then we start the nit-picking.

So, knowing a little bit abotu these cars, I think I realize that it's a completely different beast from my 550 - and that in performance terms, the 550 doesn't hold a candle. Same power / torque, but 1000lbs lighter and turbo-driven (as opposed to a big 12)? Cmon...

One of myf riends, a local guy, has what is known as the fastest street legal F40. It spent 11 months at my mechanic's place. This car, seriously, will DESTROY.

If you do a little research, check out the Virginia City Hill Climb. One of the most dangerous, intense, and absolutely brutal road races left in the country. Look at the car who has consistently, over the years, kept on pulling in 1st (and a few 2nds to the RUF CTR2s) - his F40.

AZNSunnyD: I think someone young would go for a 360 in a heartbeat. All flash and half the performance.

The 550 is much more sedate and mature. And honestly, hardly noticed. Discretion is good.

B/w a 355 and a 360 - I'd take a 355 everytime.

would love to owne one of these but you have to be VERY wealthy to drive it. Even if its your sunday car you can easily drop $25k a year on service.. and heaven forbid you should crash the thing.

bobafett

Actually, if you're running it regularly enough,t hey get cheaper to maintain. It's the cars that aren't driven that have problems. That's the biggest myth about Ferraris.

I drive mine maybe 1200 miles / month, and it's rock solid compared to 90% of the other cars I see. My maintanence ends up costing much less on an annual basis. yeah, it's still italian, which means they were dosing up on the chianti durin gthe assembly process, so shit's quirky, but overall, the driven cars are MUCH better than the sunday or worse cars.

For example, the best running F40 I know is my friends, he has 60k miles on it, has blown engines, etc. Fastest F40 you can find (I honestly believe it will put a GTE at its pace), and yet the most reliable.

Same with a certain someone's F50. 45k miles he drove it, rain or shine (yeah brotha, just like me - although I bet he didnt take his to a lumber yard to get headers like I have :D )...but his is the most reliable F50 out there.

So word of advise to the kids: if yiou buy a ferrari - drive the piss out of it, as god intended. It'll work better!

Yes, crashing an F40 will be expensive. The front hood alone will run you ~14k, if you can find one.

in the looks department i like the F50 more but no complaints of course. Both cars are outragous and just masterpeices.
