Car service question

Ok. I have a 2002 Mercedes c230 (I've posted pics already, so chill :P )

I took her in for "Service B"
25,000 Miles.

The folks there told me that I need new brake pads and rotOrs for the front, and new brake pads for the rear. And that I also need 4 new tires.

Total cost of a little over $1,500 (around 450 for the front, 150 for the rear, and 860 for the tires)

I don't think I drive that bad....new rotors at 25,000 miles? Needless to say, I'll get the work done (if really needed) elsewhere.

Thoughts?

Not sure where you're living and you didn't mention wether or not 'the folks' are an official Mercedes Benz outfit. But, generally speaking, I think you're taken for a ride.
Go to another workshop and ask for a 2nd opion with respect to your front discbrakes and brakepads. Tyres should be available for much lower prices anyway, assuming you're running standard sized wheels.
Isn't there an internet community of C320 enthousiasts in your country :?: If there is they will be more than happy to share their experiences with you and give you practical advice with respect to you problems.

I'm in Florida. It is a brand new Benz dealership/service center (down the road from my house).

I'm definitely not going to have them do the work. They have the car now (Since saturday morning actually). I'm hoping they don't F*ck things up on purpose.
I'll look for an Internet group also.

definitely check with another services centre before letting them to do the work
coz' rotors replacement after 25000 miles sounds strange to me...

If I recall, my mom's car needed pads pretty fast, but not rotors...

25k sounds pretty early for rotors, but might be only a tad early for pads. Just because its a Service B doesn't mean you automatically change stuff. They should be checking the pads for wear...and the rotors should be "turned"/"resurfaced" if possible...the manufacturer will have guidelines for that.

Check the tires yourself...how do your wearbars look? Generally, tires will be cheaper from an actual tire place...

Good luck, but definately get another opinion, from a reputable service place...a dealer that's been around longer that people like...the convenience of a dealership down the street, might not be worth it if it's $1000 more...

Thanks. I took it to another benz(Where I got my car). The never mentioned anything about the rotors. I got the pads done (front and rear) for a grand total of $457. They said I needed tires, i'll definitely get that from another place.
