Yesterday I had an incredible experience in Montmel?? thanks to dani_d_mas. He offered my brother and me to take a ride as a co-driver in his race car, a Clio Cup, around Montmel??...well, I must admit that this car surprised me completely. The only thing this car has in common with the "normal" Renault Clio is its bodywork, anything else. The performance of the car is incredible!! :D When you are inside of it you notice that this is a racing car...The acceleration is awesome, and what to say about the braking and the speed in the corners??? You can feel how work the slick tyres in the very fast corners of Montmel??...
I also have to add that dani has very good skills at the wheel. I feel safe almost all the time (dani, you know why I say "almost" and not "all". Do you remember that braking in the first corner? I think you braked a little bit late... ) and I could see he knew what he was doing.
Well, I know that probably I'm so impressed because I've never had the opportunity to ride in a car like a Ferrari, a Porsche or even a better racing car than a Clio Cup. However, it was an incredible experience for me so I want to thank dani for giving me this great opportunity. :D

Thanks!!! :D :D :D

Cool! I new this was in store for you and yesterday it finally happened! Seems like a great experience to me. I'm jealous. :D

It might be "just a Clio", but I'm sure that thing is plenty fast and a lot of fun around a track.

I don't know exactly. I hope dani will tell us soon, but I think the max speed was about 200 km/h. However, the top speed was not the most impressive.

My mate raced in the british clio cup a couple years back (year before if fell flat on its arse with shit drivers (thanks seat cup!)) they r quick, wernt lapping that far behind the british touring cars whereva we went. I only had the oppertunity to back it into the garage a couple times, never drove it properly, and as it had no passenger seat (extinguisher in the way) i didnt get a ride out on track, merely a painfull one through the padock, sat on the roll cage lower bar!
What pads are you running on yours danni? Performance friction carbon metalics? Thats what the british ones were on, and they braked pretty well. Lift off oversteer is fuckin snappy on the clio's tho, i saw about 4-5 written off on the exits on fast sweepers, lost it, ran out of lock, snapped the other way, dug in, and wehey a nice expensive barrel roll!!
I was informed by the team engineer that these cars arnt nice to give rides in as they r a bit twitchy even at %90?

Youve got a different air filter set up to the ones i saw, they used an enclosed cylindrical filter in an airbox, with a ram air feed.
You play with the suspension settings much, i saw some very varied camber settings from driver to driver and race to race when i was following the season.
Oh, and youve got standard wing mirrors, the british ones had little carbon fibre motorbike style ones, that vibrated about all over the place, so were pretty useless by most accounts!!

Yeah, i think the problem was that the standards have the glass which can fall out and smash, where as the motorbike style ones dont shatter.
In the clio cup, the times were soo tight that suspension setting alterations were the only way to eak out those precious tenths over the others. Mostly ran with a lot of negative camber on the rear, and not as much on the front.
Depends on the track, and driver tho.
