Firstly, I am a huge M.Schumacker Fan!! On the first lap, where Montoya tried to overtake M.S., M.S. pushed Montoya onto the grass! Was that a legal action or not? M.S. had the racing line, and used it to full effect. I feal Montoya should have backed off before M.S. hit him. If damage was to be caused by them connecting, it must have been Montoya's fault!! Any Comments?

ur totally right, schumi just followed his racing line he was already on, if Montoya suffered any damage he owes it to himself

Just racing situation. I was surprised to hear montoya at the press conference.. but Montoya has a lot of temper and is a nervewreck as we have seen and read on many occasions. Stupid drug dealer..

Stupid drug dealer, thats the best Motoya joke i've heard in a long time! Yup, the press conference was defenetly surprising, and i would have thought Scumi would say something back, but it just shows who's the better man (and driver)!!

Yep, it's totally Montoya's fault. I watched the in car view in Michael's car, he's totally on the racing line. Montoya seems to moan alot when things is not coming his way.. :fist:

I think Montoya did exactly the same thing in the past. And not once.
So Shumi did the right thing.
Maybe if he would back up and Montoya would overtake him race would be more interesting. :)

Here is my analysis of start:
Montoya tried to overtake outside at tosa corner. Schumi took inside line when he was braking and let Juan to come to his right side. At corner, schumi kept his line and forced Juan to grass. I think its a fair race situation. Maybe not best place for Juan to try to overtake. Juan might have succeeded if front of him would have been some other driver than Schumi. I dont believe that Schumi gets a penalty for that. Did you notce that Schumi did a 'schumi' start again. No, it wasnt dangerous but nicely secured his start...
Yep, as far as I could tell Schumacher did nothing wrong. I also think Montoya should have backed off.
Montoya have been making some passing moves and attempts where he relies on the other driver to move out of the way, if not they often will touch. And he seems pretty grumpy when things doesn't go his way. Its not the first time he's like that on the podium and press conference.

When watching in car cam, schumi turns to right at the end of Tosa corner. Juan was at the right side too. Was it because of oversteering or forcing Juan even more to gras?
News: FIA didnt penalize Michael
"Michael had a poor start, he was slow, I went to pass him and he closed the door twice then came straight at me and hit me and put me on the grass," said Montoya. "He hit me on the side but there was no damage.
"It is disappointing to have racing like that and I will be surprised it he gets away with it. I understand he has to defend his position but how far can he be allowed to do this?
"He said he didn't see me, he didn't know I was there. He probably forgot to look. I got in front of him before Tosa. He didn't see me? He must be blind or stupid."
"Look at Indianapolis last year - there I was given a drive- through and that cost me the championship. I would be champion now - and he gets away with it. The rules are not fair. They should be for Ferrari and everyone else."

Now with comments like that he doesnt get any of my respect. Doesnt matter who he said it to, but in my book its a no no calling someone stupid on a proffesional level...very childish.

Let's say for the moment that M.S. did the un-racer like thing and yielded the corner to Montoya, (Never Happen). J.P.M. would have been retaken in short order, maybe before the end of the first lap. He just did not have the pace to compete, again!!! Montoya was not in Michael's mirrors at the finish. He never was a threat for the win, Button out paced him for second. Don't complain about the winner of a race fouling you when you could not even manage second place. J.P.S. once again wants to make Ferrari the reason for his lack of results and poor judgement. Keep pace and more people might care about what you have to say!!! If I were having this many problems getting my job done I would not say things that drew attention to that fact.

i laughed so hard at montoyas pathetic comments. take third thats all u deserve, what does he think? because schumi 'tapped' him on the first corner that this affected the rest of his race...? how come he couldnt beat jenson? JP is a little baby, and to say micheal cant drive when he sits beside him, winner of the race?!?! montoya is a little girl IMO 8)

just to know if montoya passed schumi at that corner the result would be so much differrent.....because it is a fact that in imola you cannot pass..
it is also a fact that schumi turned a bit right at the end of the corner forcing j.p.m at the grass....the weird thing(for another time)is why thid accident was not taken in consideration as it happenned with ralf-alonso...basically it was the same thing...here in italy they said that these accidents are typicall at racing but i donnot share this opinion....

Here's my $0.02 ...
I think Montoya just made himself look terribly immature by his loose comments. I admire his constant attempts in trying to overtake from anywhere and drive hard - however he needs to realize that this approach will not work always - he will sometimes get the short end of the stick - no one is going to just roll over and play dead for him every time.
I will not get into fairness of driving here but mere aggressiveness behind the wheel. I think there clearly are two types of drivers - the aggressive hell-for leather types like Montoya, Michael, Alonso, and Webber. The others are normally easygoing and need to be seriously provoked to do something aggressive.
My feeling is that drivers in the first group cannot and should not complain about others driving as they are also perpetrators themselves. Schumi was very stoic when Montoya forced him into a spin in Germany - he put it down to a racing incident while Ross Brawn was fuming publicly about Montoya's driving. I also remember when Montoya got inside Michael in Brazil on turn one in 2001 and pushed him onto the grass.
So Montoya .... Just shut up - it was a racing incident man!
And no point in bringing up Indianapolis - I see two critical differences to today's incident:
1. Barrichello was forced to retire - while here Montoya faced no problems during the race.
2. Montoya was behind in Indy and pushed Barrichello out by braking too late. Here Montoya was also behind Schumi outside the racing line, so he could not claim ownership to the corner.

Not really IMHO ... I think if Schumi lost out to JPM at Tosa, he would still have either overtaken him in the first stint or during the first pit stop. Button would have been caught by the third pit stop and passed. Schumi's fastest lap was 1.4 sec faster than JPM's and 0.8 sec faster than Jenson's. It would have been more entertaining to watch :)

I hate it when people try to pass in a Formula One race. IF Michael was so innocent why did he say that he "slipped" while Montoya was alongside him. If he was racing cleanly he wouldn't have to make up excuses. However, I don't believe he should have been penalized.

Well,
there wasn't any love lost between Michael and Juan Pablo on the podium after the race. Great to see such body language, Montoya was really pissed of. His current car isn't nearly as fast as BAR Honda with Jenson Button and Renault with Fernando Alonso is getting closer and closer whereas his team for next year is in complete disarray. So he's frustrated.
Best thing for him and his mechanics to do is to jump ship from Williams straight away and join McLaren in order to start developping the 2005 contender for McLaren if you ask me

perfectly legal, schumi was first, on inside of the corner and ahead, JPM was trying to place his car where schumi's car was going, JPM was super aggressive there, but good, i applaud a good fight, and schumi clearly went extra wide on purpose to protect his slow start, which was to block JPM from passing, but that was perfectly legal, clearly on purpose, but absolutely ok, i personally hate JPM, but his hot temper is entertaining and his attitude (schumi who??) is ok with me, because it makes him at times the only competitor able to challenge schumi, while everyone else gives up, i am glad jensen is soaring, schumi needs competition, after all he cannot race rubens all season long and call his team mate, his strongest competitor, because after all at ferrari, schumi will always be number one and rubens number two ... by the way that JPM video is great, i love it ... after the incident schumi picked up speed and went kaboom sonic on everyone else ... go schumi go

he's definately good driver but wsometimes he makes foolish statesments after the race.. and that is rightiously pointed out - after being "pushed"to the grass by schumi he did exactly the same on the STRAIGHT against he's own teammate. I wonder what would his explanations be and what face would have F. Williams have after they both had collided.. :)

Michael had to have seen Juan come up (ahead of) alongside him heading into Tosa, but he had the inside line and so should have just raced juan out of the turn. I think (for the web forum-philes, "IMO") Michael did too much blocking leading to the exit of Tosa, and from watching the onboard video clip, went out of his usual racing line, keepin on the curb a little longer which seemed to me he was intentionally driving juan off the track. I know this is typical MS manuevering (clearly did it to Kimi last year (Magny Cours, i think) and for the record, i don't think is Illegal or unsportsman, but added to the consecutive blocks at the start of imola, is borderline "unfair". Not "fair" in grade-school terms, but fair in the 'allow the opponent to race you if he's capable/competitive by not driving him off the track' terms.
but, regardless, if Juan did get around Michael there, Michael would have just past him in the pits...but then would he have caught Jenson??? yes, probably, that guy is too good.
- a Juan AND Michael fan, yes, we do exist

Anyway... Montoya could be a really good driver if only he stops crying at every bump, crash and so on...
He is like a child: "Booaaohhah... I want my mum... he bumped me... I want to win but he didn't let me pass... uuhuhahah".
And this is every time, everywhere and with everyone...

^^^^Yep, he doesn't has the charisma for it.
JPM is a whining pussy.
Never liked him in F3 or CART - don't like him in F1.
There are way more deserving "champions" and "drivers" who did not have the influencial breakls that kept JPM in the lime light over the years.
AFter this many years in top level motorsport, there is NO EXCUSE for his behaviour in the after race interview or on the podium.
